Cowboys are just a hard team to believe in. Their talent is over-hyped, and I cannot get over the fact they have a bad coach and seem to shoot themselves in the foot over and over.

They are a solid football team all around, but they have too many things going against them.

This.

Great win, great effort once they got it going. I might start to think they're legit if they don't come out next time and lay a big egg. They're still one historical Miles Austin performance from losing to the Chiefs in regulation two weeks ago. This team is hugely undisciplined and sloppy and their play calling is way too cute.

Think I've grown tired of Brooking's "enthusiasm".

If you're a Cowboy fan I can't believe you wrote this. You're lookingat the new defensive leader of the team - the defense made mistakes but the brought the fucking wood after the 1st possession of the game. Now the defense seems to be taking Brookings hard ass personality instead of Wade's weak lax personality they've had before. Still need to clean up the mistakes but that's on Wade for not working that shit effectively enough. They brought the hits and effort today now next step is work on efficiency. Overall I'm happy they brought the emotion and effort and beat a team I was sure was better. Just goes to show the potential on this team if it can be harnessed and controlled by a real head coach.

Actually, they are getting the "respect they deserve" for winning this game. I said it was a great win, and they gave great effort. If they don't do it for the rest of the season, then it doesn't really matter. The Cowboys have several of these "quality wins" from previous seasons that ended in disappointment. We all know they can win once in a while. Once in a while teams don't win playoff games, let alone championships.

A team that expects to go deep into the playoffs with a talented roster and a 3-2 record should be expected to win a game at home coming off a bye week. The only reason anyone predicted the Falcons to win today is because the Cowboys have done such a complete job of underachieving. What's sad is that they've put themselves in a position to have a "must win" game so early in the season.

If they come out next week and score on their first possession against Seattle and lose 17-13 are you going to be saying the same thing about today's "quality win"? I thought not.

Meh. I wrote that after I saw him do his stupid little "take a walk" dance to the offense after an illegal motion penalty/false start penalty/SOMEthin. Seems like overkill. I'm all for passionate O and D, but his antics were cartoonishly excessive.

Maybe I can't have one w/o the other, but I sure WISH i could.

that one made me :lol

but im starting to like this new team. Brooking seems to be taking the role of defensive leader and the players are all playing their asses off for a change and not starting any drama.

All is right in Cowboy land atleast for one week. Hopefully there's no let down against Seattle

i wish he would do that to our offense every time they get a false start/illegal motion penalty.

I will say I like this guy. His attitude seems to be rubbing off, it is almost like the young guys are gravitating to him and the older guys are starting to come along. In addition I like the fact that he seems to get on the offense to make things happen, we have been looking for a leader on offense, maybe that leader will end up Ironically coming from the defense.

Nope, Bradie James likes to call himself a leader but he really isn't. He doesn't step up and rally the D when things are a bit tough as evident by the Philly blowout last year. He's a good player but does not have the personality you want your defense to take on. Brooking does, and the defense looks to be beginning to take on that nastiness.

Be tired of the director of the telecast showing it all the time. Brooking's probably done that his whole career, and the Cowboys defense could use some fire from that position.

-- Cowboys Unlikely to Extend Wade Phillips during Season --
Wed Nov 11, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com

The San Antonio Express-News reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declined Tuesday to discuss whether he will exercise a club option in HC Wade Phillips' contract to extend it beyond this season. After getting off to a disappointing 2-2 start, the Cowboys have won four straight games to move into first place in the NFC East. "Since there's been absolutely nothing in my mind but the fact I have an option for him next year, that's as far as we need to go," Jones said on his weekly radio show. "And I'm proud that today we've had some success and that the things Wade can bring to the table are showing. It wouldn't benefit our fans at all for me to discuss his status for next year."

I hope this team is right mentally, otherwise we lose this game. We need to continue playing with the edge we've been playing with and not get to satisfied with capturing the lead in the BEAST, as Matt Mosely, ESPN NFC EAST blogger likes to call it.

Green Bay is reeling and is desperate for a win, especially at home. We need to come out and punch them, and Rodgers in the mouth early. Knock his ass around early and he gets rattled quickly.

At midpoint of season, Dallas Cowboys say overtime win was catalyst

Posted Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009

Star-Telegram staff
Four weeks ago, the Dallas Cowboys were at a crossroads with a 2-2 record. There were questions about quarterback Tony Romo regressing and there were calls for coach Wade Phillips to be fired.
Of course that was before they went on a four-game winning streak that lifted them atop the NFC East with a 6-2 record at the midpoint of the season.
Romo is playing like a Pro Bowler again. The Cowboys have a new star in receiver Miles Austin, and Phillips’ defense is playing better than anytime during his three-year tenure.
According to the Cowboys, they found their salvation in the midst of a storm.
In what was the defining game of the first half and possibly the season depending on how they finish, the Cowboys point to the 26-20 overtime victory against the Kansas City Chiefs as the foundation for their turnaround.
While it will long be remembered as the coming-out party for Miles Austin, who set a team record with 250 yards receiving and caught touchdown passes of 59 and 60 yards to win the game in his first start, it was at halftime when the Cowboys banded together as one.
"People came in and they were fired up," linebacker Bobby Carpenter said. "They knew that was the season right there. We were playing for our jobs. We were playing for our season. We were playing for our head coach, too. Everyone wanted to come out and get the season turned around. Losing to an [0-4] team and being 2-3 with the expectations we have here, I think that would have been a disappointment in everyone’s eyes."
Midseason team MVP
Miles Austin: It can be argued that the Cowboys wouldn’t be 6-2 without Austin’s yards after the catch. He is seventh in the NFL, second among receivers, with 296 yards after the catch, according to STATS, Inc. He has 27 catches for 612 yards and seven touchdowns for the season. The play the Cowboys credit with turning around their season was the play Austin made in overtime in Kansas City. He caught a hook from Tony Romo, designed to get 12 to 14 yards, broke free from cornerback Maurice Leggett and then sidestepped safety Mike Brown. The 60-yard touchdown gave the Cowboys a new life.
Biggest surprise
Mike Jenkins: He began the season as a co-starter at right cornerback with Orlando Scandrick. But Scandrick struggled against the Giants in Week 2, and Jenkins won the job by default. Since then, he has earned the job. He has 27 tackles, has defensed 10 passes and has a team-leading three interceptions. Jenkins has become what the Cowboys thought he would be when they drafted him in the first round in 2008.
Biggest sub-performer
Roy Williams: He was supposed to be the team’s No. 1 receiver after the Cowboys cut Terrell Owens, but he and Romo have yet to get on the same page. Williams’ 19 catches are fourth on the team; his 324 yards are fourth on the team; and his two receiving touchdowns are tied for second on the team. That’s not what the Cowboys expected when they traded three draft choices, including a first-rounder, for Williams in 2008.

http://www.star-telegram.com/332/story/1762932.html

So going by the Boys, that overtime win that some thought showed all their inconsistencies was actually what they feel started this whole thing. Apparently it got their momentum up.

Retarded. Austin wouldn't be so open without Roy Williams. He's the real mvp.

Could have said that in Kansas City...explain the rest of them. If you watch the games, you'd see that it's Miles breaking away from his competitor. Seattle put a Pro Bowler on him and he still broke away. And the guy gets away from people even when they've got their hands on him. He's slippery.

I don't think any of this will surprise you, but the Cowboys were the top answer in this week's Sports Illustrated (http://topics.dallasnews.com/topic/Sports_Illustrated) poll among the 296 players asked, Which team would you most like to play for?
The Cowboys got 11.1 percent of the vote.
San Diego was second at 8.5 percent. Pittsburgh (7%), Miami (6.6%) and New England (5.9%) rounded out the top five.

But things i wanna see this game

1 Atleast attempt to run it 25 times. I remember before the season we were all saying how we would transition to a smash mouth team. We did for the first couple of games but then Garrett reverted back to his old self.

2 Dont come out flat like last game

3 Minimize penalties

4 Hopefully Free can hold his own out there

Not too much to ask except for #4. Preferably Felix can get a lot of touches then ill be happy

I haven't seen very many 8 inthe box sets when they've played. They just get away from the run for no apparent reason other than Garrett panics and reverts to his QB ways/instincts of putting the game in the QBs hands.

Don't know what you've been watching - just like today the safeties have been playing back. Almost no safeties up today and it's been like that since week 3.
I will say I have noticed it today..we should have run a lot more. Of course the problem with us running so much is what happened in the first half. Things get stagnant.

TD!!!!

Defense gotta sack up. See if Cowboys can do what skins usually do to them, play like shit all game then steal it late

Man, this game really pissed me off, why is coach Wade celebrating a missed fg like he just won the super bowl? seriously the Redskins played better today and they should win, offense is just horrendous for Dallas

That was about as ugly of a win as I've seen in a while. I mean, I'll take it, but holy crap. The game was in Dallas, Washington sucks, and they were missing several key players. Honestly, who cares about being balanced? I care about winning games.

I loved the way we played!

I'm so glad we won in the fashion we did only because it was the Redskins and to rip their hearts out and pretty much end their season like that when we couldnt do anything on offense was priceless :toast

But seriously, after this tune up against the Raiders im gonna expect better :lol

The thing is - if the 'skins kicker (who was 13-for-13 before yesterday) hits one of those two FGs it goes down as a big fat L. Romo was incredibly ineffective again yesterday, missing his receivers time after time until the last drive. That's not going to get the job done against better teams.

It was cool to have the chance to see the stadium (thanks, Kori!) and I was surprised at the number of Washington fans in attendance.

The Raiders might not be pushovers. They're playing harder with Gradkowski and the Cowboys are banged up again at a lot of positions.

The advantage I'll give the Cowboys I'd that Oak just came off a hard fought w against a tough team and has to turn around and travel to play again in 4 days. No time really to prepare because of the travel.

The stupidity of the common fan is astounding. While I was running errands a while ago some fan called into a sports show and suggested Garrett needs to run the wildcat with both Romo and Kitna on the field finding a way to have Kitna throw the ball to Roy Williams since Kitna knows how to throw to Roy. WTF?

Questionable when he has a pathetic 36% catch rate. Shitty routes aside, the dude's got alligator arms. Of course he knows how to catch a ball; he's in the fucking NFL. But c'mon...
