I didn't know this forum has a Cowboys thread. I am a Ciwboys fan but it doesn't look good for us. Hope Ware is ok, but without him the season Might be lost. I wonder if Jerry will bring Wade back if the Cowboys continue like this

:lol I thought I was the only one who noticed this. Every time he has a double move, it's some of the slowest shit ever. It looks like he turns his back like he's keeping his eye on some imaginary receiver, too.

Dallas was doing a good job of trying to hide December Romo all game, but it'ss going to become nothing but passing situations soon for Dallas.

December Romo is just a myth created by BSPN to hate on America's Team.

His shit is weak.

If SD can score, they would be smart to lock down on Austin and Witten and make the Cowboys run. There isn't enough time for Dallas to run it down their throat for two scores.

SAINTS UNBEATEN, NOT UNBEATABLE

7:40 PM Fri, Dec 18, 2009
Bill Nichols/Reporter

One reason I like the Cowboys' chances is that the Saints are coming down the stretch in their quest for a perfect season. Plenty of great teams have lost, against worse teams than the Cowboys, attempting the same thing.
Saints LB Scott Fujita said they don't use a perfect season as motivation. ``There really isn't a lot of discussion about going undefeated,'' he said. ``Obviously, everybody has it in their mind, you know, if we get by this one we've got two games left, then we'll have one more left ...''
The Falcons (http://topics.dallasnews.com/topic/The_Falcons) lost to the Cowboys, and despite suffering key injuries since then, almost beat the Saints last week. Is it that much of a stretch to think New Orleans can't be beaten by a desperate Cowboys team with plenty of weapons?
The Saints can talk about taking it ``one game at a time,'' but it's like the golfer who realizes he's on pace to shoot 59. Most fall short because of the enormity of the situation.

Nobody has been giving the Cowboys shit for not making the playoffs. It's actually winning a playoff game that's been the issue...something the Cowboys haven't done since the Christmas after I graduated high school(FYI...I'm over 30 years old).

Absolutely correct. The wins this month have been nice...but unless there is some playoff success this year, the same "hate" will be said. The thing I am curious about is this though....and this might come out snarky-sounding because its in text form and not verbal and can therefore be easily misinterpreted....if people don't care about Dallas, why are the other teams with equally as long playoff droughts rarely mentioned?

With the exception of you and a few others Mikey, the general douchebaggery that exists within the ranks of Cowboys fan makes them a desirable target. They consider themselves a notch above every other fan in the league because they root for "America's Team"...therefore pointing out the flaws brings greater satisfaction.

I'm not sure how it is in SA, but here in Tyler this is epidemic.

Fair points and I would agree with that. Someone acts like a douche, they deserve to be treated as such. What those people do not realize is that a few playoff wins makes it go away. Winning is the ultimate scoreboard but if run your mouth when your teams wins, expect to hear it when they don't.

Playoff scenarios for Eagles, Cowboys

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Matt Mosley
ESPN.com

If the Cowboys can beat the Eagles on Sunday, there's a good chance Philly will return to Arlington, Texas, the following weekend for a wild-card matchup. But with a win this Sunday, the Eagles can secure the No. 2 seed and an opening-round bye. Let's take a look at all the scenarios for the Cowboys and Eagles:

As we mentioned, the Eagles can secure a No. 2 seed by beating the Cowboys on Sunday.

The Cowboys can secure the No. 2 seed with a win over the Eagles AND the Giants beat the Vikings AND the Packers beat the Cardinals. The Eagles would end up with the No. 6 seed in this scenario and have to travel to Minneapolis to play the Vikings.

The Eagles will be the No. 5 seed if they lose to the Cowboys AND the Vikings beat the Giants AND the Cardinals beat the Packers. They would return to Arlington for a first-round matchup against the Dallas in this scenario.

The Eagles would be the sixth seed if they lose to the Cowboys on Sunday AND the Vikings beat the Giants AND the Packers beat the Cardinals.

Dallas would be the No. 3 seed and host the Eagles in the wild-card round.
The Eagles would be the No. 5 seed if they lose to the Cowboys AND the Vikings lose to the Giants AND the Cardinals beat the Packers. Philly would travel to Minnesota in the wild-card round.

The term Americas team is corny. I hated getting stuck watching Dallas every week when there were far better games going on so thats why I dislike the Cowboys.
If that's why you dislike the Cowboys, it's a stupid reason. Dallas hates that term. It was given to them by Bob Ryan, the now VP of NFL Films. Here's his quote...

"I wanted to come up with a different twist on their team highlight film. I noticed then, and had noticed earlier, that wherever the Cowboys played, you saw people in the stands with Cowboys jerseys and hats and pennants. Plus, they were always the national game on television. I saw all these fans in away stadiums. Hey, they're the most popular team in the country. How can I use that? Why don't we call them "America's Team"?

I'm a bit concerned for next week. If they play like this minus the few coverage fuck ups they were fortunate to get away with then it'll be a win. They have too much muscle for Philly when they don't make killer mistakes.

Oh, and LOL at the rookie pussy Maclin watching the safety the whole way and not even trying to catch the deep ball. That was funny I wish someone would gif that.

The worst matchup in the NFC playoffs for the Cowboys is the Packers, but since that game would be at home i would still give the Cowboys the advantage of not playing in the ice.

Dallas' matchup to Minn is in Dallas' favor - old QB with history of playoff chokes, Rb who is great but puts the ball on the floor a lot, young WRs like Philly who haven't been on that stage, and not to mention a coach who is worse than Wade Philips. Minn is already starting to crumble and Favre in playoffs will complete the crumbling, whether against Dallas or somebody else.

Ok, now you've outed yourself as a hater with that beyond weak take. Favre doesn't have a history of choking late season or in the playoffs? Try looking at just about every season since 1997. He's thrown huge picks at the worst times and makes horrible decisions in the playoffs, and it's been proven over and over and over again for more than a decade now. What have you been watching, futbol? Cause you've certainly not been watching football.

Minn defense better than Dallas? :lmao Dallas has pitched two straight shutouts and has held everyone but the NYG to well under their scoring averages. They dominated the Saints on the road when the Saints were undefeated. Who has Minnesota stopped? Jay "Pick 6" Cutler? :lmao

Peterson is a great back, but to think he'll run all over a defense that almost never gets run on is ridiculous. More than likely Peterson, the guy with more fumbles for turnovers than any non QB in the last 2 years, will put the ball on the ground at least once while Favre throws a pick or two and it'll be game over.

Thanks for the laugh, rascal.

Once a Cowboys fan, Vikes' Adrian Peterson wants Dallas downfall

http://i.usatoday.net/sports/_photos/2010/01/14/petersonx-large.jpg

By Skip Wood, USA TODAY
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been exposed to the skinny on the Dallas Cowboys virtually ad nauseam this week.

Peterson may as well have been back in Texas, where he grew up idolizing the Cowboys, who visit his Vikings on Sunday in an NFL divisional playoffs.

He fondly recalls the exploits of his heroes, among them running back Emmitt Smith, cornerback Deion Sanders and wide receiver Michael Irvin. The posters hung on the wall in his bedroom.

"That was before," he said Thursday with a grin at Vikings headquarters. "I was a Cowboy fan, and yeah, I root for those guys (but) when they come up here it's strictly business.

"Can't be a Cowboy fan on Sunday."

One win away from the NFC championship game, he and the Vikings take on one of league's marquee teams, but for a change Peterson views his idols as just another bump along the road.

He knows full well what he really wants. "A Super Bowl ring," he said. "That would be lovely."

It also would bring pleasant closure to a season that, for the Vikings, has been squarely centered on one facet: quarterback Brett Favre.

His arrival late in training camp became a subplot all to its own, and Peterson has experienced the trickle-down fallout.

He still is among the league's better rushers, but his numbers have been diminished.

When Favre is in the backfield, looking to make a play any way possible, that's to be expected.

Peterson led the league in rushing last season with 1,760 yards, and that was coming off a rookie season in which he was second with 1,341.

Last season he had 363 carries. This season he has had 314.

His 1,383 yards are fifth-best in the league, well behind leader Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans (2,006).

"I don't worry about those things," Peterson said. "I mean, why?"

Vikings guard Steve Hutchinson doesn't worry, either.

"Brett's done a lot for us, but that doesn't take away from what (Peterson) means to us," he said. "I really think that goes without saying."

What Favre has been saying this week is of particular interest to Minnesotans, if not the Cowboys.

Namely, will the 40-year-old legend return next season?

"I haven't thought about what next year will be like — or what I will be doing next week," Favre said. "… I don't know what will happen from the end of this season on, and the good thing is our success this year has been very helpful in not having to talk about that. We've been more focused on how the team is doing.

"I hope that continues because, once again, that's the only reason I came back, and I know this opportunity doesn't come around very often."

Such sentiments make Cowboys coach Wade Phillips wary.

"He's had so many big games and won so many big games, put the team on his back so many times," Phillips said of the player who was a Green Bay icon before one season with the New York Jets and now the Vikings. "He just has great experience, and everybody has seen what a great player he is. And he's come back and played probably just as well as he ever played this year. So he's in top form."

Peterson believes the Vikings, as a whole, are in top form, as well.

"This," he said, "is what we've been getting ready for."

Vikings coach Brad Childress thinks his team is ready, following a bye week. "I can see a spunkiness," he said. "(That) is what you want this time of year. Guys that are bright-eyed, mentally and physically."

Brett Favre: 'It will be a shock' if Vikings lose to Cowboys

Four days before playing the Cowboys in a divisional playoff game, Vikings QB Brett Favre said today he expects to return next Wednesday for his usual mid-week press conference.

Only next time he envisions talking about his preparation for the NFC title game against the Saints or Cardinals.

"Honestly, I see us sitting here next week having this press conference again," Favre said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "If that doesn't happen, to me it will be a shock."

Favre, who has retired -- and unretired -- after each of the past two seasons, said he doesn't know what will happen when the Vikings season eventually ends.

"All I want to do is beat Dallas and to even think about next year is doing myself an injustice and this team," he said. "I came here for one reason and that's to hopefully lead this team to the Super Bowl this year. Not next year."

Favre said that, win or lose, he won't devote energy to thinking about potential plans for next season this week. -- Sean Leahy

Pat Williams Guarantees’ win over Cowboys

As it becomes clear that the Viking’s opponent next week will be the Dallas Cowboys, things start to sort themselves out and the focus returns from the week of inactivity.

Vikings defensive lineman Pat Williams was asked to give his input on the upcoming event.

“The Vikings will win their first playoff game. It’s a guarantee.” said Williams.

Here’s how it came about:

Williams was asked on Monday, “Joe Namath waited until the Super Bowl to guarantee a win. You want to guarantee a Super Bowl win today?”

“No, I ain’t (giving a) guarantee (for the Super Bowl). We just have to win this first game. I guarantee we win this first game, though,” he said.. “Yeah, we’re going to win this first game.”

The Vikings now realize their opponent will be the Dallas Cowboys but the opponent doesn’t matter to Williams.

“We’ve got to (win). We’ve got to. We’ve got to,” Williams said. “That’s everybody’s goal. If we second-guess ourselves, we’re going to lose. We’ve got to (win), and we will.”

Vikings DE Jared Allen: 'We kick butt' vs. Cowboys

01:32 AM CST on Friday, January 15, 2010
FROM STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

The bulletin board material continues. The latest comes from Vikings defensive end Jared Allen.

According to profootballtalk.com, Allen made a prediction to KFAN Radio in Minneapolis.

When the radio host asked him for a prediction to Sunday's game, Allen said, "We kick butt."

Allen's comments follow Vikings QB Brett Favre, who said Wednesday, it would be a 'shock' if the Vikings lost to the Cowboys.

The next day, Favre said he wasn't making a prediction.

Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh responded with confidence when asked about Favre’s comment. He said Favre “might be on the losing end.”

If they're going to be realistic about it then yes, they should realize they're going to get their asses kicked and just admit defeat.

Actually, in all seriousness they should just say nothing at all about it. Nothing in the rules says you have to run your mouth and make predictions. Ask Desean how his mouth helped his team last week.

Just a good ass kicking is what it was. Specificaly the O-Line. They got dominated at the line of scrimage. Worst played game they have played all season.

Of course that was the best D-Line they played all season long. Credit Minny. Romo had no time back there. Marc Colombo got beat on damn near every play by Ray Edwards. Every single time it seemed like. I remember seeing Pat Williams run right by Koiser on one play. Disgusting display by that O-Line.

The offense not scoring put the D in a tough spot. You have to score for Farve to start making mistakes. That didn't happen.

Got one playoff win. Something to build on.
