Not even close. Go to Fry's in Austin, they have much better deals on screens actually large enough to see something on. This is not much more than a glorified PC display.

Failing that, try places like Sam's or Costco.

You should be able to get the 26" Samsung for not much more. I'd probably already have one as a computer monitor right now, but I wanted the option of a VESA mount.

If you aren't going to be be using it as a monitor and won't be too close to it (i.e., just a regular tv), there are plenty of fairly good 32" 720p lcds around for $300-400.

You don't need 1080P to be honest. 720P or 1080i will be fine and look great. If you can get a 1080p without overpaying, go for it. But I would not pay much extra.
