The previous four minutes up till now is the reason we are going to lose this game.

Ginobili turning it over twice in 10 seconds, and only taking threes when he knows damn good and well he needs to get to the rack is the reason why people scoff the fucking shit out of him.

The team needs to find something inside damnit. Fucking stupid. If I see ginobili take another three I'm turning this shit off.

Great breakout game for Jefferson.

Even if this game ends sour, I love the fact that the spurs have 4 legit players who can get 30 a game, we got our defensive guard back (somewhat) with Bogans, McDyess and Blair coming into their own to help out the front court, Hill looking alright at the point, and Bonner playing decent basketball.

All that's left now is for Mace to get his shot back!

I am really thrilled about Bogans right now. He is playing near the max of what we could have hoped.

George Hill looks great on both sides of the ball.

Richard is starting to assert himself and is playing like the guy we need. These injuries might have forced him into being aggressive and hopefully it stays that way.

Dice is starting to slowly show what the Spurs brought him in for.

Matt Bonner had a hell of a game and deserves a lot of credit. He was put in an impossible position guarding Dirk all by himself, but he battled, rebounded and hit timely shots.

Keith Bogans' second 3-pointer of the first quarter came at the buzzer and tied the game 21-21. Josh Howard had eight points for the Mavs.

The Spurs have led by as many as eight points. Former Spur Drew Gooden just scored to cut the lead to 16-12.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by George Hill and Keith Bogans give the Spurs a 12-8 lead. First timeout at 7:07 left in the first quarter.

Spurs starters: George Hill, Keith Bogans, Richard Jefferson, DeJuan Blair and Antonio McDyess.

Yes it is. They can take the lead and then the team that was leading can re-take the lead and win.

Point is, unless the team on a run takes the lead during their run, they almost always lose.

Lots of heroes ion this game.. RJ, Dice, Manu had a nice shhoting stretch for a while.. Matt Bonner delivered and steadied the ship when it looked bleak, GHill also showed how far he has come from last year.. But Bogans gets my vote for setting the tone early with his defense then backing it up with consistent 3-pt. shooting.. a good win. Don't see Pop complaining much after this effort by the guys. In fact, I'd like Pop to take his time bringing back TP and TD.. let these guys build on the chemistry the past couple of games.

Yeah, that lineup should look like Spurs circa 2005 in terms of being able to defend flexibly and score from all over the court.

With Manu/George first 2 off the bench, and then Grizzly/Bonner/Finley/Ratliff/Mason depending on matchups and situations, this team should start to take shape.

Jefferson leads short-handed Spurs past Mavs (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2009111124&prov=ap)
By Paul J. Weber

Tim Duncan and Tony Parker couldn’t get San Antonio past Dallas in the playoffs, but the Spurs didn’t even need their All-Star duo this time.

Richard Jefferson scored 29 points and the Spurs won again without their two biggest stars, beating the Mavericks 92-83 on Wednesday night in the first rematch since Dallas swiftly booted its division rivals from the playoffs last season.

Back then, Parker and Duncan had virtually no supporting cast while the Mavs ousted them from the first round in five games, San Antonio’s earliest playoff exit since 2000.

If this was payback, most of the Spurs’ starting lineup had no score to settle.

“I remember walking out in the second half and we were starting four guys that are new for this team,” said Jefferson, who had his best game since being traded from Milwaukee this summer. “To have a little success, to give some new guys some extra minutes in the season, is good.”

Dirk Nowitzki scored 29 points and 12 rebounds, but the Mavs were done in by awful shooting. Nowitzki was 9 of 27 from the floor, Josh Howard was 2 of 11 to finish with eight points, and the Mavs shot 35 percent as a team.

Nowitzki, who scored 29 points in the fourth quarter a week ago in a win over the Mavs, had 10 in the fourth when Dallas cut a 15-point deficit down to four with under four minutes left. But the rally stalled when Matt Bonner’s 3-pointer pushed the lead back to seven.

Bonner’s shot came after a missed jumper by Nowitzki, who said he “pressed a little bit” in the second half.

“I probably took a couple of shots that I shouldn’t have taken,” he said. “But hey, we still had a chance.”

Jason Terry added 19 points for the Mavericks and Shawn Marion had 11.

Jason Kidd, who had five points on 2 of 6 shooting and nine assists, said too much fell on Nowitzki.

“We asked him to do way too much tonight,” Kidd said. “We asked him to carry the load offensively, defensively and that was just not right for us as a teammate and as a team to put him in that position.”

Manu Ginobili had 13 points off the bench while Parker and Duncan continued to rest their sore left ankles. Both were injured Friday night in a loss at Portland and sat out their second consecutive game.

Duncan participated in shootaround about an hour before Wednesday’s game but, like Parker, sat on the bench in street clothes. At least one of them is likely to play Saturday against Oklahoma City, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said, though he didn’t hint as to which one.

The injuries are considered mild.

George Hill scored 11 points in his second start for Parker for the Spurs, who watched the Mavs celebrate advancing to the second round following an easy Game 5 win the last time Dallas came to town.

This one didn’t look much like last time.

Aside from four members of San Antonio’s starting lineup being new to the Spurs there was Ginobili, who was 3 of 8 from behind the arc after sitting out the Mavs series last spring with two bad ankles.

Ginobili’s shot at the halftime buzzer—a 3-pointer heaved in front of the scorer’s table—finished a 22-8 run that put Dallas at arm’s length until the fourth quarter.

The traditionally defense-first Spurs have been anything but so far, entering Wednesday’s game allowing an average of 102.5 points per game, putting them in the bottom third of the league. Popovich struggled to explain the slack defense before the game but noted it was slow to catch on last season, too.

He’ll feel better about this effort: the Spurs held the Mavs to their fewest points this season.

Keith Bogans had 13 points for the Spurs and was 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

NOTES: The Spurs trotted out their third different starting lineup in three games. … Mavs F Drew Gooden, benched in his final game during his brief Spurs stint last season, scored two points in 9 minutes. Gooden was playing his second consecutive game since missing four because of a strained rib cage muscle.

Yeah, I'm having problems with it to. The thing is, I'm using the same computer, connection and everything that I did last year (when I had virtually no problems). I also only keep the game video up, but it still lags. I'm wondering if the NBA has more subscribers this year than their system can easily support (would that affect it?).

I don't want to watch the game on replay; I don't mind a slight delay, but I don't want to see the final score and then watch the game.

I don't like the number of threes, but you have to think that with Tony and Tim in the offense, that number will go down and points in the paint will go up.

Agreed. Live by it and die by it. I've seen many a game in the last couple of years where the Spurs 3 game was off and they got toasted because of that. When you can't spread the floor by hittng the 3 then the double teams on TD can be brutal. But without a big down low to be a scoring threat their options were more limited. Anyway that's mostly all Bonner can do and when Manu thinks his on - especially after last game can you blame him - then he lets it fly.

I don't like the number of threes, but you have to think that with Tony and Tim in the offense, that number will go down and points in the paint will go up.

:tu

Both will get their points which will reduce the others ability to shoot the 3 as often. Of course Pop will screw come butts out if TP and TD don't gettheir share of touches.

borders
11-12-2009, 06:21 PM
That was a nice slaughter by the Spurs. The Spurs are so good that they don't even need TD &TP to piss all over those faggots.

The Truth #6
11-12-2009, 08:28 PM
The Truth #6's Random Thoughts

To me the issue isn't so much that we shot a lot of 3s, it's that we're shooting mainly jump shots instead of getting points in the paint. The 3 has become much more popular because it helps spread a very small court and is much more efficient way to get points then shooting a long 2. The 3 by itself isn't the worst thing in the world, but an overreliance on jump shooting in general is my issue.

Having said that, I know that Tim and Tony will help improve this to some degree when they return so it's not that big of a deal. However, I don't think Tim is as dominant in the paint as he used to be, as evidenced by the declining number of double teams he sees. So, that means Tony is going to have to attack the rim as much as ever. Luckily, from last game we can fully see how effective RJ can be going to the rim. Whereas Parker magically evades contact (except with the floor), RJ is great at getting to the line through forcing contact, and with his strong frame, I'm less concerned with him getting injured as compared to Manu.

Anyway, I'm not sure what post player other than Tim can help us get points in the paint. So far the best candidate seems to be Blair, with a combination of his trash points and the rare post up. In fact, I think Pop should allow him a small amount of freedom to post players up just to see what he can do. I think it's a part of his game the team should explore. With room to operate he might do better than with his putbacks, where he's often found stuck in traffic and gets his shot blocked. If he has time to back a player down, he can use a somewhat reliable fadeaway.

Anyway, just some ideas.
