I think RJ is having some of the same troubles Mason had. RMJs game went to crap when he played out of position at the point. He just couldn't get comfortable playing his game. The same goes for RJ when Pop keeps trying to play him at the PF.

TD 21
01-16-2010, 09:08 PM
Once again, Pop rushes to put Duncan back in and is well on his way to repeating his mistake of last night: overplaying him in a game the Spurs are likely to lose either way. I realize Ratliff and Mahinmi were playing horribly, but too bad. They need to chew up minutes in a game like this and does it really matter if either is in foul trouble? If it's close late, neither will be on the floor and neither is going to be used for 30+ minutes.

I don't get this coach, he has no problem running Duncan into the ground, yet he pulls Jefferson every five minutes. Leave Jefferson in, this is the type of game that should be tailor made for him to shoulder the load offensively. I realize he's playing terribly; too bad. The Spurs need him in a game like this and by benching him they're only letting him off the hook and taxing others simultaneously.

Once again, not nearly enough minutes/shots/production from Jefferson, Ginobili apparently thinks he's Nash and even when he does look to score, he's become very inefficient as a scorer, Parker, clearly the guy wants to be doing just about anything but playing basketball right now and Duncan, as usual is playing like it's a must win game and in the process is logging too many minutes.

We knew the Spurs were going to blow that fools gold early 11 point lead, but a 20 point swing in less than a half? Wow. Pop should give this team the first 5-6 minutes of the 2nd half and once they prove that they're not going to win this game, concede immediately by pulling the big three.

Well then prepare to be officially worried. I'd be surprised if the Grizzlies don't blow it open in the first five minutes of the half. If Parker didn't want to play early, then what's his motivation going to be with the Spurs down 10, less than a half to go and a win unlikely?

This team needs to stop feeling sorry for themselves. They've had probably as easy a schedule as anyone to date, only now are they really being challenged and this is how they respond? One guy on the team is logging 32 mpg (barely), so the fatigue excuse shouldn't fly. Honestly, what does a guy like Jefferson have to be tired from? Parker just doesn't want to play. That comment about "playing too much basketball" said it all. I know he meant it in terms of being physically drained, but he's also mentally drained. You can tell, the guy just doesn't want to be playing right now. I suspect he'll pick it up come playoff time, but it looks like it's going to be '03 all over again from here until at least the playoffs, with Duncan playing at an MVP level and carrying what otherwise appears to be a mediocre, underachieving team.

Why is Jefferson out again? I want to see him run into the ground...get the big three out of there, it's over.

:lobt2::lobt2::lobt2::lobt2:

Nobody wants to win more than me, but it's obvious it isn't going to happen tonight. If you've followed the team for any length of time, you'd know that. So why tax the already gassed looking big three? Get them off their feet, because the games continue to come fast and furious. There is no 3 day break on the horizon. Jefferson, on the other hand, I'd play the majority of this half. Sometimes you sit guys because they're consistently playing lax or not producing, etc. to teach them a lesson and sometimes you do the opposite and you run them into the ground to teach them a lesson. For Jefferson, his punishment should be the latter.
