As bad as we've been doing, the Pistons have been doing even worse. This game will be a dogfight in Detroit. We need a win..Go Spurs!! I wonder @ TP. We played well in Denver with him resting.

Because the ball moves better without TP. If the injury is gonna bother him and limit him, I say they should go as long as they can without him.

Pistons Vs. Spurs Game 2

I miss the old days of a few years back as both teams are currently dealing with struggles that neither franchise are accustomed to. What was once thought to become a long time rivalry is now just another game on the schedule.

Both teams need a W. Obviously a W means a hell of alot more for the Spurs than it does the Pistons at this point though.

Rip and Tay both recently back from long injuries (they have missed a combined 59 games), are both starting to play very well. Rip especially has been putting up big points lately. This has however taken Stuckey out of the picture a bit. He's been looking to run the point more than score buckets. All fine, but he does need to find a better balance. His ability to get to the hole and draw fouls is more needed than we've seen from him in the last few.

I'm hoping to see each teams rooks go at it a bit tonight. Probably the 2 best 2nd rounders this year, Jonas Jerebko and Dajuan Blair both got game and have each carved out a role on their respective teams. Jonas has been our starting PF and done quite well. A Hard worker and probably more of a hustler than a 'skilled' player who can cause trouble for opponents. Works mostly inside getting rebounds and putbacks but can put it on the floor and also stroke it from 3.

Neither of our offseason acquisitions are playing great right now. Villanueva is hot or cold and Gordon is perhaps finding it difficult to find a rhythm with us having so many scoring guards. Injuries have also effected both of them.

The Pistons have started games off pretty well lately, but struggled with bench play. Someone needs to get it going for us to have a chance.

I'm looking for a Piston win today. We're not the better team but things are just aligning themselves for us. Parker won't play, and with Dice back in the Palace I expect Detroit to be a bit more lively. And I believe this is the Spurs 8th??? road game, ending the Rodeo road trip.

Pistons: 92
Spurs: 84

That's my take, giving Spurs fans a little Detroit perspective. Looking forward to the game, and hope like hell the Spurs get things going again to get Dice a chance to get that ring.

Parker will sit, have MRI (http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/courtside/2010/02/parker-will-sit.html)
By Jeff McDonald

Tony Parker will miss today's game at Detroit, coach Gregg Popovich said. Parker, who is battling a strained left hip flexor, will have an MRI on Monday in San Antonio to determine the extent of the injury.

Parker originally suffered his latest injury Feb. 8 against the Lakers, and it has not responded well to treatment. A firmer timetable for Parker's return will be determined after the MRI.

"I thought he was going to be OK after the Indiana game," Popovich said, referring to Wednesday's victory over the Pacers in which Parker had 28 points. "He scored a thousand points that game. Then he came up in the Philly game, he was hurting. So I told him, 'We're going to sit you.' "

In Parker's absence, George Hill will slide to point guard, creating a domino effect in the starting lineup. The Spurs will open small, starting Roger Mason at shooting guard, Keith Bogans at small forward and Richard Jefferson at power forward.

It will be Popovich's 18th unique starting lineup this season.

"Because I'm tricky and smart," Popovich said with a laugh. "This will certainly work, I'm sure."

In related news, the Spurs have recalled Malik Hairston from Austin to replace Parker on the active roster.

Malik Hairston: I try to bring my youth, athleticism and energy; I just want to be a real sparkplug.

It's no wonder Pop can't find the time for him . . .

Old dog dying a slow, painful death. Unfortunately, a large part of this team's decline is self inflicted, thanks to the poor job done the past few years by Pop and Buford.

I'm so sick and tired of watching undersized, unathletic, one dimensional players getting destroyed repeatedly. Why hasn't Duncan taken this situation into his own hands? It's fucking laughable. Any other player even near his stature in the league would have been making demands and threats a long time ago. He just allows this shit to go on. Unbelievable.

A disastrous start with a catastrophic small lineup, somehow reversed to restore parity. I am beginning to think that Coach Pop is losing his marbles by going for these stupid lineups. What a fall for a legend.

so we're going to have to wait 6 minutes before ever getting into a lineup that HELPS US WIN GAMES.

We've started the last 3 games going right into a deficit, why is Pop over-thinking everything this season.

We'll probably see mostly an 8 man rotation today, with spot minutes in the 2nd quarter for Finley/Bonner. Unless they're hot from three immediately, they'll (as always) be a detriment in every other area of the game, so if they're bricking, don't expect to see either the rest of the way.

Pop should give Hairston/Mahinmi those minutes, at least the energy/athleticism quotient would be at something resembling an NBA level.

You know, I didn't get on Mason after his disappearing act in the playoffs last season, haven't gotten on him about his struggles this season, but I've had just about enough. He needs to start making open shots to justify consistent playing time. He's probably the 8th most talented player on this team, but that doesn't mean shit if he doesn't produce. With the looks he get's and his shooting ability, I feel like at minimum he should be at 45% from the field and 40% from 3. Instead, he's at 42% from the field and 38% from 3. Not good enough. It's past time to start playing Hairston because the wing production on this team is awful.

Blair will be out any time now and when he is, he's done for the half. No matter how well he plays, he only get's about a 9 minute rotation each half, then sits the rest of the way. This senile coach is so used to coaching dead legged old men that he doesn't realize that one of the five most productive players on his team is twenty and though he's not in the type of shape that allows him to play a ton of minutes without wearing down, he can easily handle more than 9 a half. What's wrong with getting him a quick 2-3 minute blow, then letting him finish out halves?

Contention is least that you demand when you are a luxury tax paying team and when Tim Duncan is healthy. The Spurs had a great offseason, but their pieces never gelled as much to our/their liking. But bad coaching has also exacerbated things.
