I echo this sentiment. I am waiting on buying until then.
I just bought the Rockstar collection off Steam for $45. 15 games, all the GTAs, Manhunt 1, Wild Arms (meh) and both Max Paynes.
I will never play GTA for a console ever again.

RDR's world is TWICE THE SIZE OF GTA: SAN ANDREAS!
It's divided into 3 areas, and each of the 3 areas are bigger than GTA IV's Liberty City!
fuck I wasn't this excited for a game since...? I dont fucking know. It's been many years.

Where did you hear that? 'cause so far, all I've heard is a rumor based on an article in GameInformer where the game was said to be coming for both consoles and PC. Even than it only had "PC" written in the Platform section of the article and nothing else. Everything else is conjecture. There hasn't been any official confirmation of anything so far as I know. Do you know something?

well, they have a few that I am interested in. Stealing gold in a race vs other people, CTF modes..

Why no Lawmen vs Outlaws ? robbing banks and cops have to stop them?

Game reviewer Seth Schiesel at the New York Times wrote, "In the more than 1,100 articles I have written for this newspaper since 1996, I have never before called anything a tour de force. Yet there is no more succinct and appropriate way to describe Red Dead Redemption."[31]

As in the video review above, the horse control takes some getting used to, thats probably my biggest gripe so far, but hey, Im drunk. At least Im not out running into wooden fences with a car and shit. :lol
I DID decide to take the day off tomorrow to check this shit out sober so I will give the low-down after a few hours of play tomorrow. So far its been pretty sweet though and I just barely played the first few "missions" that basically set up the story.
For those that are playing it already, I just got past the part after the saloon and horse chase.

you should do some sidequests or something every once in a while. You can't beat ME2 in 15 hours, for example, unless you pass up every dialog option and completely gun your way through it.

I've never really been into the GTA series. I had some fun screwing around in the Vice City version but outside of that, nothing really. The missions got real repetitive and didn't hold my attention for very long. I found it much more enjoyable to wreak havoc through town rather than actually play the game.

I'd say it's about the same size as GTA: SA. It obviously takes a lot longer to travel around, cause there are only horses.
"I found it much more enjoyable to wreak havoc through town rather than actually play the game."
Back in the day (GTA3 first came out), I'd do the all weapons cheat and go blues brothers 2000 on that bitch. Tons of cops chasing, tanks, and me with a shitload of weaponry. Nowadays I much prefer killing humans but those were some of the greatest times I ever had gaming. The entire sandbox idea was so new and done so well for GTA3.

Started playing yesterday at about 7:00 and quit at 12:30.
I am the exact opposite player Mexican is. I have completed 3 "wanted" missions and couldnt figure out how to take them alive (in game tutorial is shit, btw). I shoot them in the knee, they just get back up and start shooting.
I couldnt figure it out. Turns out, you need to complete the Bonnie quests to get the lasso...and Presto! You can hogtie and lasso fools to take them alive.
Word to the Wise: New players, complete the Bonnie quests before doing anything. Or should I say, at least get to the "break a mustang" portion and get your lasso.
I didnt, Ive been all over, completing stranger quests, moving the story along with the Marshall, etc....all without a Lasso. Stupid.
I'll say this, the Xbox doesnt have shit on the PC. This game is going to look amazing when it hits for PC, because thats about all I can think about when roaming around, watching the sunset and sunrise, when the stars come out, hanging out at a random campfire with strangers. All I keep saying is "Man, this looks good/great on Xbox...this shit is going to blow shit away on PC." Maybe not Crysis standard, but one small step below.
I had an "oh shit" moment when on a clear blue sunny, desert day (i was killing rabbits or something), a big "BOOM" goes across my living room. A deep, bellowing "BOOM". Im looking around like "WTF?" Paused the game and listened to the house...nothing.
Unpause and "BOOM". ...and then a torrential in-game downpour ensues. My consoles are hooked through my surround system and I had never heard the coming rain before in the game. It was so incredibly spot-on it actually tricked me into looking around the house.
The sound is amazing in this game, the SFx are ridiculous. Voice-acting is on par with other major titles, nothing ground-breaking (yet, anyway), but still wholly satisfying and nothing that pulls you from the experience.
I kept hearing and reading reviews that say "This is GTA4 in the West". No, no it isnt Mr. Lazy Writer.
Its far from. The mechanics and controls may be the same or extremely similar, but the world, mission variety, scope, story-telling and subtlties are nothing like GTA4.
I have less than 5-ish hours played and have only seen Armadillo, MacFarlane Ranch and one other little town, I have done 3-4 side Stranger missions, 3 "Wanted" missions, completed all Rank 2 Hunter challenges and am well into the Rank 1 Survivalist Challenges, 3-4 Bonnie mission, 3-4 Marshall missions and have encountered 3-4 "little side mission events" every time I travel (you'll know what I am talking about).
GTA4 was a city that teemed with people, traffic and cool radio stations. Beyond that, people werent going anywhere or doing anything, youd hear soem wise-ass conversation theyre having on the phone, but that was the depth of character(s) on the street.
Already in RDR, the people live in that world. They go to work, theyre delivering messages, rounding cattle, heisting, getting drunk, carousing, attempted rape, attacked by wild animals, getting chased by the law, random bandits will enter towns and whoop it up, etc, etc, etc.
This is all the shit Ive seen in less than 5 hours (and no lasso, FUCK!). So far, an incredible game. Top notch....everything.

And that's why I won't be buying it until it's 29 bucks. Fuck GTA IV's mechanics, fuck em. It's like gaming in slow motion; controlling a latent puppet. And though I haven't seen or played RRD, I am still feeling burned by the similar 10.0 GTA IV reviews, my subsequent false optimism and my even more subsequent fall back to the reality of how shitty it truly was.
We'll see how this game looks in a couple months time. Until then, I'll get my mission variety, scope and story telling from Alan Wake.

Reading the Geek Zone has revealed that I am not a discriminating gamer. I buy and try everything, for every system, so long as the genre fits my tastes.
Sandbox games are the shit, to me. I still dont think theyve been done properly, but RDR is a very nice addition to the genre. FO3 and Oblivion are very high on my list and even very early into my play with RDR, I dont think it will be able to reach those games, but its a very solid game in my library that will be played ad nauseum.

Kill me, kill me now...

I barely got a chance to play it last night, but when I did the game already had me sold. I mean, I'm not one to really judge a game based on what others review because I like to enjoy a game on a level based on my own personal enjoyment. I have done only a few actual missions and have been wandering the countryside hunting and doing the stranger missions. The story is definitely keen on the Western genre. The Spaghetti Western through the Eastwood shift is on full display in RDR. I haven't decently gotten into this game, but I plan on giving it a go tonight after the game. I think I'm going to seriously get into the meat of the game.

Yea, I tried to get on it for a bit last night in free roam, but all those faggots on there just kept trying to run around killing everything. This is why I need a posse, otherwise I'll never be able to get anything done on there.

Yeah free roam multiplayer kinda sucks unless you have a posse and your in your "private" roam if not your gonna get killed every time you move around the place. Last night me and my friends were doing some gang missions on private roam. It was fun. They all had horses but I was stuck with a donkey because I didnt level up like they had previously. haha.
I played the single player for about a few missions. Wanna try to get back into it but multiplayer is taking away all my time.
Like dark reign said, the rain is crazy. And this game is beautiful
The multiplayer games like free for all, take some time getting used to. You spawn close by your enemies so you gonna be on your game. You just have to get all the techniques down. Like hiding behind a wall or box in the open and slowly moving to the side to shot some one. Also the gold rush is fun.
I'm not that great at writing reviews, but if yall have questions ask.

I'm in cowboy bliss right now. So far all my fears have been alleviated. This game is so much smoother than GTA IV. I saw the trailer where Marston shot a running bandit in the leg, lassoed them, jumped off his moving horse, and hog-tied them in one quick movement. I thought that there was no way to pull that off with GTA IV's shitty controls. I was wrong. While the same basic controls are there, it doesn't have GTA's clunky feel. Riding on horses felt awkward at first, but once you get the concept that you aren't controlling the horse, you're controlling Martston who's riding the horse, it makes sense and you quickly get used to it.
I haven't advanced far into the story (I don't think), because there's so much else to do. You get a lot of side missions and random encounters just by exploring. And you can work on several side missions simultaneously, while the story-line missions force you to do just those like GTA. Another nice thing is that if you fail a mission, there are convenient check-points throughout the it so you don't have to do all your traveling again like you did in GTA.
Anyway... I love it so far. Haven't even touched MP yet. Probably will tonight.

That is the best explanation I have heard of the horse controls.
It took me quite some time to get horse riding down-pat. First thing I did was change the horse control setting in "Options" to "Camera Relative" instead of "Horse Relative". Immediate improvement, IMO.
But the way you spur the horse on, control the gallop by holding "A", etc...your explanation fits.
Maybe an Irrelevant/Obvious Tip:
Most probably know this, but if you hold A at your designated speed, the horse will continue to ride giving you free reign to look about with the camera. Also, even when youre not holding A, the horse will continue its current speed for quite some time, also allowing you to look about (because holding A and manipulating the Right Stick tends to get awkward...I have to use my left hand on the Right Stick to do so, I hate that).
The Gemini Method
05-19-2010, 01:18 PM
Yeah, the horseriding too a second to figure out, but once you've gotten the hang of it, the task of riding and looking and aiming becomes second nature.

I hated driving the car in gta. I didn't play it long though. But I like the horse controls. Takes a little while to get used to like others said but not hard. Any one experience in multiplayer free roam that when you hold "A" down while riding with your posse you all don't go the same speed like your suppose to?

yeah i had trouble with that too
basically, you have to paint ALL 6 little crosshairs (to use all 6 bullets in your revolver) onto the enemy so your guy will shoot.
when the crosshair is white, its the most accurate. when its big and red, least accurate.
whoever paints all 6 bullets onto the enemy first while in dead eye, then shoots first
thats what i learned and now i never lose one

As soon as I joined public, not 5 seconds in I got killed. I respawned and immediately took out the guy that killed me. I proceeded to grief his ass, killing him 6 times in a row then got boot. Not sure because of the griefing or because of network issues. :lol
Next, my brother also bought a copy and he was playing in the next room. we formed a posse and started doing gangster hideouts until some other guys started fucking with us. We setup behind some rocks and me and my brother took them each out multiple times. they kept trying to circle us and get an angle but we are within earshot of eachother and where yelling to eachother what we where doing and were they where coming from. It was fucking awesome! :lol
We both managed to level up to lvl 14 or so mainly killing the same 4-man player posse. Had 39 headshots just in that one session and a kill streak of 29 before they killed me and my brother. 2 on 4. :lmao

Keep doing the quests for Mrs. Macfarland or whatever her name is. The one that saves your life at the start of the game. Eventually she will have you go out with her father to rope wild horses, thats when you get the rope.

I dont think level counts for much, I think it increases your damage, we ran across a lvl 14 guy when we where both level 7 or so and he would kill us easily if we where not together.... Even when we where together, he killed one of us most of the time before we got him.
So far, it seems, the rule for free roam multiplayer..... If another player is near you that is not in your posse, find cover (a rock or some shit) and shoot first, but dont expose yourself too much.
Yeah, the guy was twice our level but several times I was able to take him alone just using cover because he was a dumbass staying on his horse out in the open.
Seriously... I logged off and my brother fended off a posse of 3 players for like 30 minutes by himself without being killed, getting multiple kills on them, just using cover smartly.
*hint* use a repeater rifle in Multiplayer. They fucking own at range and most players right now dont use them.

Yeah, taking cover is the best way to go instead of running and gunning. You get killed a lot less.
Also if you didn't know after you skin an animal and collect the meat and maybe the horns and skin, in the general store you can sell them. so once you talk to the guy in the store you can press the right button and that prompts "sell" instead of "buy". don't know if it will benefit you to keep them over time and maybe sell them to people in the streets. but who knows.

I haven't gotten to the multiplayer yet, but I'll try it out in a day or two, then I'll try to complete the rest of the single-player 100% sometime after that.
I just have to say that this game was amazing...I've been playing games for years, and nowadays I'm usually picky in choosing video games because it seems as though I've seen it all, but not with RDR. It was a refreshing change, and yet it still has SO much untapped potential.
Too bad it'll probably take years for another full release. Hopefully the DLC can keep me going once it comes out.

The only thing I dont like about this game is the public/private multiplayer. It just seems barren compared to what you can do in single player.
In Multiplayer, you can do free-for-all duels, form a posse and face off against another posse, do bandit hideouts, or go hunting. Unless Im missing something, thats about it.
I really hope the DLC thats comming out expands the multiplayer so you can play poker and shit, do missions, stuff like that. You can only own so many newbs before it gets boring.
To me, public is a waste of time as it seems only 8 people can be in a session at one time.
I personally would like Rockstar to create a MMO out of this so we can see huge posse's going at it to control territory and shit.

The multiplayer is seriously fun. The maps are great since they're actual locales in the game and thus, tend to be sprawling and diverse.
I've never been a fan of autoaim games, though back in the day I played a lot of GoldenEye etc before I got into pc shooters hardcore. But, it turns out being okay in this rendition, mainly because you can use a shit ton of cover in the game and it takes a few shots to the chest from any gun to get killed, so the autoaim adds to what could have been a pretty patchy aiming system for a fairly fast paced multiplayer.
Overall, a really fun game, glad I bought it. btw I've seen 7on7 in a few matches I played (PS3).

I think my favorite part of this game is the contrast of a dying era/birth of the modern 20th century. The conversations John Marsten has regarding the skeptical ways of those who've settled the West and the encroachment of the East and the paranoia that some of the residence have. Now, I think the level of conversation is highly evolved and somewhat out of place for this type of setting, it does lend a sense of intelligence to the game.

I agree. I like that they chose the early 20th century route instead of the usual post-Civil War western. Rockstar (unsuccessfully IMO) tried to move into a more serious narrative with GTA IV. RDD works perfectly. As you said, there's a level of intelligence absent from other Rockstar productions, but there's still plenty of humor. I also like that fact that you can play the game while abiding all the laws if you so desire, that isn't possible on GTA.

Let's talk about the Strange Man, from the "I Know You" stranger encounters.
He's the Devil or the Grim Reaper.
He's there at John's .....barn moment. Look behind the men. He's standing there, all silently watching.
During his final encounter with John, bullets don't hurt him.
During his final encounter with John, he judges the ground he is on and says "This is a fine spot" ...... it just happens to be the very spot of a gravestone in the future.

Has anyone figured out how to do the gun duels? I feel stupid for asking, but the tutorial doesn't help me and I just can't seem to figure out how to actually shoot the other guy yet.
Right stick down then up. And shoot him when the little target is at it's smallest.
yeah i had trouble with that too
basically, you have to paint ALL 6 little crosshairs (to use all 6 bullets in your revolver) onto the enemy so your guy will shoot.
when the crosshair is white, its the most accurate. when its big and red, least accurate.
whoever paints all 6 bullets onto the enemy first while in dead eye, then shoots first
thats what i learned and now i never lose one
Just to clarify the exact mechanics of the Duel...
The important thing to pay attention to are the gauges on the right side of the screen and the Aim Reticle.
The Blue gauge is yours, the Red gauge is the enemy.
You'll notice that when you press fire, the gauge will fill by either small or large amounts (depending on the accuracy of your reticle and the area of the enemy youre hitting).
Every time you press the Fire button, a black line appears after the filling the gauge by a bit (or a lot, read further). Each black line is a bullet and every increment shows how "well" you aimed.
Who wins the Duel is determined by this gauge, not by the amount of rounds you select. I routinely win Duels with only selecting one shot (to the head or gun). So here is a step by step and its explanation...
After the stare down, you can use the Right Stick to put your hand closer to your gun (giving you the jump when it comes time to draw). You can pull first, which gives a small boost to your gauge but in doing so, you incur an accuracy penalty (the reticle cycles quickly). If you wait for your opponent to draw first, you dont get a boost to the gauge but your accuracy is FAR better (the reticle cycles slowly).
What I mean is, the reticle doesnt cycle nearly as fast (from red (inaccurate) to white (accurate), so its easier to paint the target with all accurate shots.
Basically, you can win every draw only painting one target (usually the head or weapon). When you wait for your opponent to draw first, just life the reticle and take your time to line up the shot, select it when its White and watch a one shot, one kill. Your gauge jumps through the roof so long as your shot is accurate and in a proper location.
I farm Fame and Honor by cheating in Poker, getting caught, and being forced to Duel. I then shoot the weapon out of the hands (one accurate shot = Full Gauge) of my opponent, which is +200 Honor and +100 Fame...every single time.
Side note: I figured out Dueling by proxy of trying to learn how to cheat in Poker. Seeing as I physically cannot keep the Cheat gauge out of the red, every time I tried to cheat, I got caught...which meant a Duel, usually with the General Store owner in Armadillo. Killing him in a Duel closes the General Store for 5 days, but worse than that was there now were only 2 guys at the Poker table (less $$$ on the table). SoI kept trying to disarm him in the ensuing Duel and couldnt do it consistently. After many tries and a lot of re-loading, I figured it out.
Just be accurate and pay attention to your gauge...if your first painted target fills your gauge to MAX (it certainly can if done right), just sit back and wait for the DeadEye time to run out, because you won with one shot.

I play as basically a law-abiding citizen in RDR, but criminals I get creative with.
My favorite thing to do with hogtied criminals is take them to a place with lanterns. Get close and drop them next to/on top of a lantern, step back and shoot the latern. There is a certain pleasure I get from burning a completely helpless, hogtied enemy alive for trying to kill me.
My next thing I want to try is dropping a hogtied individual off in the middle of Bear or Cougar country. Dont know if the animals will attack a hogtied person, but I hope they do. Drop a guy off near a pack of wolves and enjoy the screams.

Thank you for the write up. Let me ask you this though... when do you paint your crosshair on your opponent's gun if you're going for a non-lethal dual? While it's still in his holster? While he's bringing it up to aim? Or when he's pointing it at you? I can't seem to hit it. I always hit his face on accident or hit his right hand, which doesn't count for anything.
I'm actually trying this on Muller (the German guy in Mexico), maybe the game doesn't let you settle this in a non-lethal way???

I like Gun and all... but there is literally nothing to do on that game once you complete all the missions. You can't even play poker, because they count as side missions. Except for randomly getting attacked by bandits, the world of Gun is completely lifeless.
And the map is as tiny as it can be. You can travel from one side to the other in less than a minute on horseback.

I wasn't, until about a week before it came out, but I heard a lot that piqued my interest. More so since its release. It isn't getting blasted as broken or glitchy or anything, so I'd be curious as to what you found so objectionable within the first 7 minutes that you wrote off the next several hours?
More or less, I trust the opinions from the Joystiq Podcast more than any other gaming outlet's... and as they describe Alan Wake as a must play, I'm most certainly going to play it.

Horror games are not usually in my wheelhouse, but I'm psyched for 2 reasons-
1. I'm very intrigued by its episodic gameplay, the building of a real story in digestible chapters. In addition, the northwestern motif is right in my wheelhouse.
2. The gameplay pacing is (apparently if descriptions holds true) pretty amazing in its ability to build tension by the use of light. I'm pretty turned off by the typical idea of horror gameplay which throws shrieking zombies at a cumbersome and clunky player character, but I'm all for trying desperately to fight through darkness, just to get to the only safe point; a dot of light in the far distance. That's real fear and pacing. As opposed to a bunch of startling moments.

Might be pretty personal. I don't like/enjoy the theme to begin with. I'm the kind of guy that despises horror movies because they never manage to engulf me in their make believe. For whatever reason, the rare times I catch a horror flick and they're butchering somebody, in the back of my head I'm thinking: "Well, there's the camera guy filming this, plus the director, plus 20 other people there, including the guy holding the ketchup bottle that's gonna spray the floor to pretend this was some major carnage...". You get the idea.
Particularly about Alan Wake, I started playing it just like any other game, and I was really trying to like it. Especially because RDR was not due out for another week so I needed something to play in the meantime. It started kinda slow paced with this story set in the NW... then the meat of the game came about, and it was basically this linear thing, where you basically have to go from point A to point B, turning on generators, picking up notes and killing baddies, while recharging life in bright spots on the way. I mean, under the nice graphics and whatever the 'plot' is, that's all your game mechanics right there.
I play games to have fun. This thing became a repetitive 'job'. I've finished games like this for just the sake of going through the plot or looking at all the nice graphics. But I didn't think this game was exceptional on either.
So it was really disappointing. I ended up going back to Just Cause 2, a game I completed a long time ago, but being open ended and non-linear, and just flat out fun to explore, I was glad I didn't spend one more minute in Alan Wake. I seem to remember that the original concept of the game was to be open-ended. Maybe if that would have been the case, then it would have been more fun.
I would say rent it. And if you're ok with the game mechanics after the first 10 or so minutes, then go ahead and buy it. But you might end up sorely disappointed. I was.

:tu :toast on the review, because damn, I'll respect anybody's input about a game. But yeah, Ima still play it. Maybe I'll take your advice and make it a rental first.
While I respect your opinion though, I'd suggest, since you already dropped money on the bitch (unless you rented) that you check out the first few minutes of this week's X3F Podcast. http://xbox.joystiq.com/2010/05/24/xbox-360-fancast-167-recently-deceased/

Not trying to change your opinion or anything, because I haven't played the game and you're entitled to your own life, but hell, if you bought the shit, you might as well take said review into consideration.

The new generation is here, and gaming isn't for "kids" anymore. Many games have MATURE adult only content, such as Red Dead Redemption. Plus, our generation grew up playing video games, we aren't going to just stop forever :)
also, video gaming helps keep the mind sharp, constant mental challenges, puzzles, reflexes, etc.... should help with old age.

You bastards. Stop talking about how good this game is. I'm already playing League of Legends online, and I've got a half-finished Dragon Age at home. Plus a 7 month old kid I have to play with. Plus school. Plus a wife. Plus work.
I don't have time for all these awesome games!
dont worry two more weeks until the backlash, the overrated comments, etc just like gta 4

I'm already done with the game and I have nothing negative to say about it. Unless I nitpick. GTA4 was an abortion.

thats good, i still think the universal love for this game will die down after a while and a large segment will start hating it, and when they do, thats when the price drops to 30 bucks and i buy it used for 20 off cl.

I really think your going to be disappointed about your prediction. In 2 months you might find this game for your price when its used. I dont see it dropping below $40 for at least 3 months or so.
This game is what GTA4 should have been.

GTA IV looked pretty on the surface, but lots of problems arose once you took the time to play it. RDD fixed most if not all the major issues people had with GTA IV. Of course no one knows how people will feel months from now, but I expect the universal acclaim to remain consistant.

How you doing on LoL? How many wins do you have now? I haven't really played in a month, so I've been sitting on about 270 wins and something like 210 losses.
It's a damn tough game.

here is my guess after e3 but before july 4th i will get this game for 20-30 dollars

It would've been pretty nifty if you were able to re-name John Marston...you know, change it to Johnny Ringo or something. That pretentious West (Nigel) Dickens is annoying at times lol.

Man, I don't know if most game these days pay attention to details like I am seeing in RDR. I did that Cannibal (American Appetites) mission and when I was done with the mission I released the cannibal to see where he would go. To my surprise he was still running away with a strong limp (last victim broke the cannibal's leg). That attention to detail really keeps you immersed.
I would have figured once the mission was done that specific npc would have just been rebooted to be a normal npc (without a limp).

Just finished the main storyline + the final stranger task.
I guess I can't say too much. But Jesus, I love this game. I didn't think Rockstar had it in them to create a game that actually made you care for the characters like this.

it really takes something for a game to stimulate me. i usually get bored within a week or so of playing a game. it's weird. well actually it's not that weird. ADHD will do that to you. however, this game is just so much fun. there's just so much to do in this game, the graphics are great, and i'm really liking the story line and side quests. i'm at the point in the story where you cross over into Mexico, and the game just takes on a completely different feel as you cross back and forth.
one thing i would've liked for them to include are varieties of the species of animals. from what i've played, you can get buck antlers (from the wild bucks that run around in the country), but they are all the same. i wish they would have included diversity there, like some rare bucks that have bigger antlers then others, for more money, or to meet new challenges.

See my post about multiplayer on the last page. Yeah, its kind of boring. Hopefully the DLC thats coming out spices it up a bit.
If it takes you a couple of deaths, your doing something wrong. My first time on multi I got killed once in town and thats because I procrastinated on what to do. Never since.
Log in, take cover immediately, take fools out. Almost no one in multiplayer knows how, or cares about, using cover. Use cover smartly and you will own. Eventually the retards will catch on though.

Still, it looks incredible thus far. Starts kind of slow though. :|

lmao, I was riding across country along side some random NPC on a horse and all of a sudden he pulls off the road and dismounts. I stop as well to watch him thinking I did something to cause this. He walks across the road to a huge rock on the other side and proceeds to take a piss.
He then gets back on his horse and rides off.
Rockstar went all out :wow

I sold this game today for $50 cash off craigslist. met at a burger king near my home
the singe player is amazing. wonderful game.
the free roam sucks ass. once you do the 7 gang hideouts enough times, there is nothing left to do but shoot at each other. challenges give crap EXP and stupid Titles, and it's the same shit from the single player anyway.
the PvP modes like Deathmatch is boring
and Capture the Flag is shit. the respawn in this game is worse than MW2.
the hit detection is garbage, so many times i hit people in the heat, no kill. then 2 headshots, no kill.... resorting to go for body shots, which take many shots.
where is the creativity?
Where the fuck is the promised Survival Mode that was said to be like Horde mode from Gears 2? the hunting areas in free roam are a joke and they break ALL THE TIME because the animals get stuck behind hills or mountains and you just sit there waiting for the attack.
No trains in free roam
and why the fuck is there no POKER, LIARS DICE, etc in Free Roam?
and no fun creative modes? The world is there, the sandbox is BEGGING for Rockstar to make some cool fun modes.
they did jack shit.
amazing single player, free roam is great for a few days then its boring, and the pvp sucks ass.
im now putting my $50 and spending $30 to buy BF Bad Company 2. never played any of the bad company games, but everyone keeps talkin about them. I played both demo's, BC1 and BC2, and both sucked ass. maps too big, the gun play while on foot is inferior to MW1 and MW2.... yeh the vehicles are cool, but eh.
we'll see.
overall, red dead redemption was a little bit of a letdown. i expected more. they could have done so much more with the MP.

Any multiplayer that Rockstar includes in their games I consider a bonus. The singleplayer game is freaking amazing.
They are releasing a MP coop pack in July for free BTW (or is it June?).
