Man what is more annoying than getting waxed tonight is seeing all these Celtic nut huggers holding onto false hope. Guys if Boston was going to win this series, they would have done it tonight. Destiny is not on their side. Plus that Perkins knee injury looks bad. I don't see how any of you can be so confident in the Celts right now.

Well, all the intrigue has been sucked out of what should have been a very good game. It's not confirmed, but apparently Perkins tore ligaments, which means he's more than likely not playing in game seven. So once again, the fucking Lakers get lucky, as their unprecedented run of luck continues (they've blown the late 90s Yankees out of the water in this regard at this point).
Every time they need a bailout or someone/something to jump to the rescue, it happens. It's unbelievable, uncanny and all too convenient that it's happening for them.
Bynum, who's been hanging by a thread for weeks, of course he's still playing. Since there's a good chance that Williams receives some minutes in game seven, if I were Rivers I'd send him to start the second quarter when Bynum returns and replaces Gasol and I'd have him get locked up with him in a battle for a board, pretend to slip or trip and unintentionally intentionally smash into Bynum's leg. That or if Bynum has a dunk and Williams is in the vicinity, hard foul him as hard as he can. The Celtics have to attempt to level the playing field or they've got no shot in game seven.

Typical Lakers fan. Let's pretend all of their success over the years is just because they've been better than everyone else. It had nothing to do with luck, officiating, mysterious "trades", a constantly bloated payroll, players taking less to play their and if you want to go back far enough, players playing their because of where it was located and what it would mean for their earnings off the court. No, none of that factored in, it was all just because the Lakers were run better than anyone in the league.

This is your reaction: "What, you mean you're now in awe of the Lakers and aren't bowing down to them and kissing their ass? Is this allowed. We're not used to this, particularly after the three hour blow job of Bryant/the Lakers that was ABC's coverage".

What Laker fan denies those advantages?
NY, LA, Chicago are always going to have those advantages as big markets. Boston too to some extent.
The Lakers have the added advantage of being an attractive destination -- well run, historic, glamorous, etc. Helped bring Shaq no doubt. Probably Malone and Payton, too, though that didn't end well.
Where your whine runs dry is in overlooking that much of this advantage has been mitigated by the new CBA. Superstars don't change teams via FA much anymore. It has been a long time since a superstar signed with LA because of the reasons you gave.
The NBA, like life, is not entirely fair. It will never be. I think the league has a duty to make competition as level a playing field as possible, but it can't make LA mid-market or unglamorous. It can't make NY obscure or a boring place to live. Why fans of SA and other small- and mid-market teams don't just appreciate overcoming that obstacle and enjoying it rather than whining about it doesn't quite add up to me.
I say this as a fan of the Minnesota Twins. Mid-market, the Yankees have innumerable advantages over them. Ain't fair and throw in a CBA that doesn't protect competition like the NBA does and it's almost comical. Just makes me appreciate 1987 and 1991 all the more.

Something freakishly weird like... being outscored? ISTR this happened last week. Why is it so far-fetched?
Just like after every game, overreaction to one game. These teams are still very evenly matched.

You can't just look at the end result. To gauge these teams you also need to look below the surface at how the teams are winning. The Celtics never dominated games like the Lakers did in games 1 and 6 and it took an unusual record setting performance for the Celtics to win game 2 in LA. The Lakers were in every game they lost. These things tell me the Lakers are the better team, particularly on their home floor. When the Lakers play desperate on their home floor the Celtics cannot match them barring something weird like Ray Allen going 12 for 12 from 3.

This is my thinking too. Him getting hot yesterday could be a double edged sword for the Lakers meaning that he may be trigger happy Thursday when he doesn't need to be. I mean if he is still hitting fine, but I don't expect him to keep shooting like that.

Plenty. Most of you act as if the Lakers are what they are based on the fact that they're just better and smarter than everyone else, like everything they've done is their doing and not largely based on myriad other factors.
Where your whine runs dry is the Gasol "trade". Maybe superstars don't change teams via free agency much anymore, but they do via trade and they've also been known to attempt to control where they end up in the draft, such as a certain arrogant puke some fourteen years ago. I know it's been a long time since a superstar signed with the Lakers because of the reasons I gave, which is why I said "if you want to go back far enough".
It's one thing to overcome that obstacle when the playing field is relatively even, but when they have a front line that's like men against boys compared to almost every other team, the margin for error is almost zilch. And on top of that front line, they also happen to have a top two-three players in the league on the perimeter. It would be one thing if they cultivated that front line legitimately, but in the case of one of them, the best one of the three, they didn't. Everyone knows it and it's completely altered the landscape of the league since.
Had this happened for an obscure small market franchise, I don't think anyone would suspect any wrongdoing, but the Lakers? Conveniently it happened the following season after the previous summer that diva (who happens to be one of the two biggest stars in the league, so obviously they didn't want him leaving their precious Lakers) whined for more help or else he wanted to be traded. Come on, it was all too convenient and to anyone without bias and with a brain, highly suspicious.

Pretty close. It's Joey Crawford, Danny Crawford, and Scott Foster.
Figured they wouldn't give Joey a 3rd game, since no official had worked 3 games in a single Finals since 1994.
It's Joey's third straight Game 7 -- he was on the crew for the Game 7's in 1994 and 2005.
