Rumor has it that it will be a close race but youth will triumph over old.

To what? I hope it was to zero, last thing this town needs is a soccer franchise that will fail in two years.

Those of you mourning Schubert should know that he would have done everything in his power to let development interests run roughshod over community interests.

I'm in the development field. I wish I could post some of the comments I've heard about him.

I really don't know much about the other two. After a little research, it seems like Castro is not really suited for this much responsibility. At best, he would be a mayor that treads water for his term, showing up at ribbon cutting and speaking in empty platitudes about San Antonio's brighter future, but looking good while doing it. Hardberger comes across as too rough around the edges; eager for reform, but not politically savvy enough to pull it off.

I think all the development money that flowed into Schubert's campiagn will shift to Castro. It's a safe bet, but more importantly, they see Castro as somebody naive enough to be easily manipulated; whereas they know Hardberger would be a huige pain in their ass.

True.

I see Castro winning this race big time for all the reasons mentioned in this thread.

BTW I'm hispanic and my vote will go for Phil.

Tpark, you didn't even know the first election was over!

you didn't even know the first election was over!

I hadnt heard the final numbers.

All I knew was that Castro was leading with hardberger and Schubert having pretty close second, didnt bother staying up later for it.

I live outside the city limits so im not allowed to vote in the election, but I wouldve voted Schubert, just for the fact im a conservative and he was the closest.

Castro is a whack, and I couldn't bring myself to vote for a damn lawyer. We have ENOUGH lawyers in government as it is.

You know, the only reason to vote for Castro is if you like a guy with greased hair who says one thing and does another.

But hey, if thats what floats your boat...

tpark, you do realize that all three candidates are lawyers, right? You might check into some of the cases they've been involved in before assuming that Hardberger as a lawyer-mayor will screw you but Schubert wouldn't.

I just want the hispanic voters to come out and vote based on issues

Exactly, that is why I'll vote FOR Castro.
I wish anglo & socialite wannabe voters would heed your advice.
