Exactly. It was just the dumbest signing I've ever heard of. I don't know how many other clubs were bidding on Torres (I know there were a few), but I wonder how much they were offering. They couldn't have ALL been willing to shell out 40-50 million on this guy, could they?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/57/Rosicky.jpg/300px-Rosicky.jpgArsenal’s Tomas Rosicky and ref Phil Dowd accused of match fixing

Referee Phil Dowd and Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky’s “suspicious money transfers” are allegedly being investigated by the Interpol, according to a report by French news source Footanglais365.
A rough translation of the article states: “The crazy game between Newcastle and Arsenal on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League (4-4) has not finished talking. Today, it would even turn Interpol, to look closely at this meeting that saw the Magpies to join the Gunners, who led 4-0 after 26 minutes though gambling”
“Strong prevailing climate of suspicion around the game, which would have been on the sidelines of sports content with strange movements of money. Tomas Rosicky, the Czech midfielder for Arsenal came late in the game and led to two goals for Newcastle, would include in the viewfinder of Interpol.”
The match ended in a tie despite the 4-0 lead at halftime. Newcastle rallied versus Arsenal and even posted four goals which remained undefended.
The rally was given momentum during the second half when a red card was given to Arsenal’s Abou Diaby after he reacted to the tackle by Joey Barton, grabbing the midfielder by the neck and shoving him on the ground.
“Inconsistent refereeing needs to stop.its killing the game.if Diaby goes.whats the difference between that and Nolan on our keeper!?? #joke,” wrote Jack Wilshere on his Twitter. The tweet was however quickly deleted as it could give rise to a possible punishment for Wilshere.
Wilshere was referring to that incident early in the match when Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech was thrown by Newcastle’s Kevin Nolan to the ground by the scruff of his neck. Official Phil Dowd chose to send only Diaby out of the game even if the actions were similar.

IMO that's why Hugo Sanchez was one of the most talented center forwards to ever play... he must of scored at least 20 such goals over his career.

Highly underrated in terms of his legacy simply because Mexico as a whole isn't much of a futbol powerhouse.

Congrats Birmingham, congrats Muser. It wasn't even an undeserved win, although Szczesny (and Koscielny) gifted Birmingham the second goal in a way that no other team seems to be able to do this amazingly besides Arsenal.
Szczesny was pretty bad the whole game, though. And it is terrible how shaky and vulnerable Arsenal look on the defensive end. On top of that, they sometimes are too fucking stupid to put the ball in the back of the net.
Well, the Carling Cup is not a trophy that will make or break the season for Arsenal, but on a mental level, it must be pretty devastating to know that you failed yet again to produce when it matters most.

Well, there have been plenty of games this season where I thought they finally found the toughness that seemed to elude them in big games so often in recent years. But somehow, it always turned out to be some kind of fluke again.
Of course Arsenal can beat United at home, but given the importance of this game, I won't get my hopes up too much.

United blank the media after Anfield loss

Manchester United failed to provide any post-match interviews after the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, with Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant Mike Phelan refusing to speak to the media.
Sir Alex Ferguson's fall-out with the media has reached new heights (GettyImages)

• Kuyt: Hat-trick is best feeling ever
• Jolly: Dalglish rewarded for birthday boldness

Ferguson cancelled his pre-match briefing on Friday in protest at the coverage given to his post-match quotes at Chelsea on Tuesday that have landed him with an improper conduct charge, plus the furore that surrounded Wayne Rooney's elbowing of Wigan's James McCarthy last weekend.

In a pre-planned move, United also blanked the media Sunday. Ferguson did not speak to host broadcaster Sky Sports, either before or after his side's third Premier League defeat of the season.

Phelan, did not carry out his usual post-match engagements with the BBC, arranged due to Ferguson's long-standing feud with the organisation, while radio rights holders talkSPORT were also left without any comment from the visitors.

Should any of these organisations complain to the Premier League, the governing body will be forced to act, escalating the problem between Ferguson and the BBC, with the fines for his non-compliance still waiting to be made public.

And for the first time since 2005, even United's own television channel, MUTV, left a senior game without any reaction, which is an embarrassing situation in itself.

It is not yet known whether the media blackout will continue this week, ahead of United's FA Cup quarter-final with Arsenal, although discussions are bound to take place behind the scenes.

The only comments came via a club spokesman, who confirmed Nani will be assessed on Monday before the extent is known, and Rio Ferdinand, who was not even at Anfield, but offered an opinion via Twitter.

"Bad result today no excuses,'' the England skipper stated on the social networking site.

Really, I think Arsenal supporters by now should know they're simply not good enough. They're like the Atlanta Hawks or what the Suns used to be. You'll know they'll be in the playoffs, but do they really have a chance at the title?

They're not good enough. They won't buy the pieces they need and all that talent they develop eventually gets sold off. They're a glorified farm team.

It's not all over for Arsenal but they lack a winning mentality....I think they have all the tools. It seems like they crumble when they go behind on the scoreboard. ManU is the exact opposite.. They've been fucking lucky on so many end of game goals it's ridiculous. You have to play 90 minutes. Diaby and Denilson need to go....a consistent world class defender wouldn't hurt. Djourou is good but Koscielny's performances are like rolling dice.

With all that said, Arsenal could still win the prem if they win all their games. Will it happen...probably not.

US businessman Stan Kroenke agrees bid to buy Arsenal

American businessman Stan Kroenke has increased his shareholding in Arsenal to more than 62% and agreed to make an offer for the rest of the club.

A full takeover was triggered after Kroenke Sports Enterprises acquired the stakes of Danny Fiszman (16.1%) and Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith (15.9%).

The terms of KSE's offer have been agreed, with Arsenal shares priced at £11,750 and the club's value at £731m.

Kroenke first bought 9.9% of shares in Arsenal in 2007.

"We are excited about the opportunity to increase our involvement with and commitment to Arsenal," said 63-year-old Kroenke, whose company also controls basketball's Denver Nuggets, ice hockey side Colorado Avalanche, American football team the St Louis Rams, and Major League Soccer outfit the Colorado Rapids.
