I now doubt it, there have been a few articles stating Barca is no longer interested given Arsenal's such high price tag for a Cesc move to Barca, and Barca have pretty high debt as it is. I'm pretty sure he said he wants to leave England, and pretty much play in either Spain or Italy. If he moves to Spain, the obvious choice would be Real or Barca but I don't see him signing with Real, so maybe Italy. But perhaps if he really only wants to go to Barca after weighing his options some more and if Arsenal are willing to lower the price on a potentially disgruntled player who wants nothing more to do with Arsenal, maybe a move to Barca is yet again another possibility.

After a disastrous start, Arsenal at least tried. But they didn't know what to do with all their possession, as there was no one there to initiate the offensive game. Ramsey and Wilshere had a couple of decent passes, but they're not yet ready to control the attacking game the way Cesc and Nasri do. Apart from that, there is just too little movement without the ball these days, so they're just passing it around without gaining any ground, making it too easy for the opponent to defend.
That being said, Arsenal would have deserved a draw and they were really unlucky with the refereeing: a clear-cut penalty that was not given in the first half, a good van Persie opportunity that was waived off because of a phantom foul call, and finally a Chamakh goal that should have been given but wasn't.
Still, the third place is Man City's to take now, let's hope they drop points against Stoke.

Thierry Henry has urged Arsenal supporters to keep faith in the club's long-standing manager Arsene Wenger despite another disappointing end to the season in which the team failed to win any silverware.

The 33-year-old New York Red Bulls striker, who spent eight years at Arsenal helping them win two Premier League titles and three FA Cups, said that even though the team's sixth consecutive trophyless season had left him 'suffering', he feels his former manager is the man to lead the team back to glory.

In an exclusive interview with Goal.com, Henry said: "When you play for Arsenal there is always criticism. But I feel like any other fan. I’m like the rest of the team right now, I’m suffering.

"But we have to help and believe in that team. They had the potential to win this season, they've always been so close to winning but sometimes fall short. I think the team can do it and I hope that the boss [Wenger] stays because he is a very important person right there for that organisation."

Henry, who left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2007, said his heart still belonged to the north London club and is looking forward to playing against his former team in July's Emirates Cup friendly.

"It will be a good feeling. To see Arsenal’s people again, the employees who work there, the players, the fans, the boss.

"Arsenal is who my heart belongs to, so it will be an incredible moment, I hope. I played seven years at Highbury Stadium, so I can’t say that I even played a full year at the Emirates Stadium because I was injured a lot during my last year at Arsenal. So I think I played like 15 games at the Emirates, and with the stadium itself I don't have too much connection.

"But with the people... it's different, I love the people, the fans, the people who work there from the chef to the guy who takes care of the field."

Despite his nostalgia for Arsenal, Henry, who won both the World Cup and European Championship with France, says he is enjoying life in the MLS, where his New York Red Bulls side currently top the Eastern Conference.

"What I always say is that here [in MLS] we have a lot of good teams. The other day people thought that we were about to win easily the match against Chivas and we lost at home.

"In this league you never know, we have to work every Sunday or Saturday or whatever day the game is, we have to try to win. But teams -- here there are a lot of good clubs, good players. Teams in general are trying to play well. What I say is that it's too difficult to compare leagues. You can’t compare MLS with La Liga or Premier, but here the soccer level is good in general."

The Frenchman also says he has no plans to return to Europe and intends to end his playing career in the US.

"I’m happy here. I did what I had to do in Europe. I had the opportunity to win everything I played for in Europe, so I’m here in the USA, on an incredible team which is doing good things, trying to win its first title. So I’m happy to be here with them and if we can we are going to do that."

When asked whether he was considering a move into coaching, Henry responded: "To be honest, I don’t know yet. I have four years left and I’m going to try to finish them. I hope to win some titles. But after that I don’t know. Being close to soccer of course [that's my intention] because that is my passion, but even knowing that, I don’t know yet in what role."

Looking back on his glittering career, Henry said there was no one moment or memory he cherished above others and was simply enjoying playing regular football.

"At my age… people used to asked me a lot about the World Cup title and all that. But with the years passing by, I mean... how can I say this? I could play then and I can play now. You know, to me going out to the field and playing is always the best moment.

"You know why? Because when you know you are at a more advanced age you want to enjoy that that much more. And in my career, I've had a lot of good moments and bad moments. Oh, the bad moments! Still, the best moment is always when you go out to the field and can perform."

Henry also said he enjoys the relative anonymity that playing in the US gives him, but insists he still feels the pressure to perform to a high standard.

"Well, the pressure I always say is there. It's necessary to have pressure because the sport is like that. Sometimes I create the pressure myself. So in that aspect there is no problem.

"Now, on the other hand, it is true that off the field we're more at peace because people don’t recognise us that much and we can walk, go out to the movies or eat quietly and that to be honest helps me a lot in order to live a better life."

Tevez likely to stay

Carlos Tevez is likely to stay at Manchester City as he seeks to bring his family over from Argentina, according to his representative.

Tevez, who submitted a transfer request in December, had been expected to leave Eastlands this summer and recently told an Argentinean TV programme that he does not enjoy life in North-West England.

However, amid reports that Tevez has been told he will be allowed to return to Argentina on a free transfer if he stays another two years, agent Kia Joorabchian has now claimed the forward is hoping to resolve his personal problems and stay at Eastlands.

"I don't think speculation about Carlos leaving is fair at the moment," Joorabchian told the Daily Star Sunday. "I don't think money is a consideration. Maybe it's a case of his family coming over to him. That's something he's trying to sort out.

"I'm sure in the next week he will sort the family issue out. Once he does, he will announce it and everyone will be in a better place."

He added: "Carlos has always had a goal. The goal was that City needed to get into the Champions League and win a trophy, and they won a trophy and achieved that goal. Now that has given him a tremendous feeling. He held that trophy with a lot of pride.

"If you look at the team they are going to get stronger and stronger and, if Carlos stays, they would be my favourite to win the title. I'm sure that will be a factor in his mind and, the fact that City fans have embraced him, will count for a lot along with his great relationship with the supporters.

"I think all these factors will be positives for him to stay. Carlos has not made any decision to move. We have not asked to leave the club."

Tevez: I want to leave Manchester City

Carlos Tevez has once again asked to leave Manchester City.

Following a January stand-off with the club, Tevez now says he is finished with life at Eastlands, and followed up some recent complaints about Manchester life with a statement that his family life is the reason behind his desire to quit.

Currently at the Copa America with Argentina, Tevez, 27, says he spoke to City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak to explain his decision.

"It is with great regret that I have to inform Manchester City of my wish to leave the club. I would like to state that I have great respect for the club, its supporters and the owner, Sheik Mansoor, who has been nothing other than respectful to me," he told the Daily Mail.

"I hope that the people understand the difficult circumstances I have been living under the past 12 months, in regards to my family.

"Living without my children in Manchester has been incredibly challenging for me. Everything I do, I do for my daughters, Katie and Florencia. I need to be closer to them and to spend more time with them. I need them to be happy because my life is about them now. I need to be in a place where they can adapt.

"Being captain of Manchester City, qualifying for the Champions League, winning the FA Cup and finishing as top-scorer last season has made me very proud.

"I hope that most of the City fans will understand that I have given them my all on the pitch and that my dedication to the city cause has been 100 per cent on the pitch.

"I hope I have done my bit to help City continue their progress towards their ambition to be champions of England and to advance in the Champions League. I have no doubt that the players and management of City will achieve great success in the future."

Despite that desire to leave Eastlands, Tevez looks short of suitors. His move to City is said to have cost the club £45 million, and they wish to gain a significant return on that investment.

Links with Real Madrid have gone cold of late, as has Juventus' interest and a recently-mooted swap with Inter Milan's Samuel Eto'o has also hit the skids.

I watched the pre-season game between Arsenal and Cologne on Saturday. Nice debut for Gervinho with two goals, and for entertainment purposes, Jenkinson scored - in true Arsenal fashion - a bizarre own goal.
The defense still looks as shaky as ever, though. I hope Wenger will be able to sign a starting caliber CB to play alongside Vermaelen. Another LB wouldn't hurt either, as there are currently only Gibbs (still insconsistent and injury prone) and Traore on that position.
