Let me start by saying that I think TP is an excelent player.
I just critizes him when I think he's not playing for the team. Wasn't it what you all have been saying when Manu went to the bench? That it was "better for the team, so be it"?? Well, so let me say now what I think is better for the team and may not be ALL what TP wants.
I dont want TP again and AGAIN trying to hard to be the man of the game, again forcing his shots, again playing like "this was my turn" (sic). I mean, i hate him when he implies in his comments he HAS TO carry the team every now and then.
I mean, he CAN do it when he's hot but needs not to TRY all the time to prove he's the 2nd option or something like that.
Spurs need him to play like a true point guard. Forget about his points, forget about Eva getting some Hayden, forget about whos second option, forget about who the fans like more. To make it short, focus on his job as a point guard, or somebody else will take it.
DISCLAIMER: Once again, this my view only and no way should be interpreted as a general opinion in Argentina. :)

Pop wants Tony to be aggressive, try to penetrate. When Tony goes for 20+ pts, Spurs nearly always win. Tony is the difference-maker, not Tim. Tim will nearly always have good game, but without Tony also having a good game, the W is in doubt.
One of the things Tony hasn't completely mastered is when to shoot and when not to shoot. Tony knows, Pop tells him (is why Tony is now left in longer in 1st qtrs), that he has to get his game going early for the Spurs to succeed, on average.
I can't say Tony was slacking off last night. He drove a lot, which is great considering the beatings our drivers have been taking taking, but just wasn't finishing. Tim wasn't finishing around the basket, either. Tony also played good defense.
Tony has a ways to go, esp in playmaking. He's really between 2 roles, scorer and playmaker. He's not "done", yet. Getting the balance right isn't easy.
With Tim and Tony having sub-average games, Spurs were lucky to get the W last night. Spurs just didn't play very well (eg, only 15 ASTs for 39 FGs vs season avg of 22 AST for 36 FGs).
Manu, and Nazr, stepped up big to be the difference makers. That's the kind of TEAM effort it takes to win.
I'm not worried about Tony as long as he keeps hustling and being aggressive. I DON'T want him to give up his scoring role to be a Stockton-type playmaker only (Stockton scored quite well). Tony doesn't have, yet, a top playmaker's floor vision, although I do remember Tony averaging 10+ AST in the Dec 03 W-streak, where he averaged a very JKidd-style double-double in that streak. I'd love him to play like that now.

I dont mind him penetrating or taking his shots, but sometimes that's all he does.
I could be wrong and Pop wants 2 shooting guards and no point guard, but i'd like him a little less worried about being the *STAR*.
Again, i could be way off here, but its the feeling i have after reading his comments.
Maybe Eva screwing around can cause some effect on TP's ego.

These type of comments are unnecessary and juvenile. I've asked them to stop. Warning to everyone, if you post them, your post will be deleted.

Just curious, can you reference where/when exactly Tony said and or implied that he feels it's all up to him to carry the team from time to time?

Both.
Ok then. But you can't close all newspapers just to avoid Eva making a fool out of TeePee.

People can talk about it in the Club if they want. There's a thread there, but the Spurs forum isn't a place for talk about the player's personal lives.
And just a side note, don't believe everything you read.

Look, you can read his post-game quotes and conclude whatever you want. I dont have the time right now to look back thru all his comments.
If you feel unsatisfied with my answer, i can tell you this...
I just made it all up. Tony is the biggest person in the world and his unselfishness spreads over the spurs... He plays cooperatively and carefully select his shots.

How would you feel if someone was taking the piss about Manu's personal life? You would insult him as the minimum reaction...what his life is outside the basketball court has nothing to do with what happened yesterday in the court.
Yes, Manu had an oustanding game yesterday, and Tony didn't but if you want Manu to have another Championship ring, you should support Tony too. The same goes to all other people critizicing (sp?) all other Spurs players. Barry, Beno, Tim, Nazr, Rasho....if we want another ring, we must support them in a blind faith manner until this playoffs are over. The offseason is where everything must be planned, what was good, what went wrong.

Look, that's private. You dont need to know who's the biggest hater here. That's personal stuff.

First of all, I didn't negate or imply that Tony was "The biggest person in the world and his unselfishness spreads over the Spurs, etc etc." So lose the attitude.
Second of all, Tony's post game quotes:
“We played great defense tonight and we were great on the boards the entire way. Nazr (Mohammed) and Man (Ginobili) both played great. It was just a really good team effort for us tonight. Hopefully we can keep that up when we go to Seattle.”
I don't see how that's implying that he thinks he has to carry the team every now and then. If you're gonna say stuff like that, try backing it up instead of arguing with sarcastic remarks.
