Nothing is stopping you from saying that.
But if you truly seek the truth and do so with a pure heart, the truth shall be revealed to you. Many cannot see the forest for the trees. I see both.
And would you still see the truth if you never heard of the Bible or the Christian God?
I don't know why you speak like you know what you're talking about, yet can't come up with a single reason why the word of God condones slavery other than saying that it's Satan trying to trick us.

I already said I was not familiar with that scripture, which if you say it does not exist, I have to take your word for it at this time...so I have reading to do.

I'll bite... I would venture to say that you, like the majority here in this thread, don't really care about any of this, consider it all baloney, and simply enter such threads to turn them into mockfests and to continue to justify your own unbelief (amongst everyone's reasons)...
I don't feel I need justification for my unbelief. I am curious about what people believe, and why. I merely ask questions so that others may reflect on their beliefs and determine if they are held for valid reasons; that's not so wrong, is it?
NOW, as for your question... The answer unfortunately is "no"... Redemption after our ephimeral life here on Earth is not possible in the 'afterlife'... because at that point you would no longer be acting out of faith, but out regret...
I'm ok with that, with one exception. Why would you punish people who didn't have faith with you? I could understand God saying, "Look, you didn't have faith in me, so you're not set up for Heaven." That's at least debatably fair. But I don't see the justification for eternal punishment.

Because Jesus walked a path to salvation that we must all walk if we wish to be saved.

http://www.evilbible.com/do_not_ignore_ot.htm (Don't whine about the name of the site. If you think it's lying, look up the passages yourself.)
1) “For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV) Clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself. None other then Jesus said so.
2) All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)
3) Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)
3b) "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16 NAB)
3c) "Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)
4) Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old Testament law. Mark.7:9-13 "Whoever curses father or mother shall die" (Mark 7:10 NAB)
5) Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: “He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” (Matthew 15:4-7)
6) Jesus has a punishment even worse than his father concerning adultery: God said the act of adultery was punishable by death. Jesus says looking with lust is the same thing and you should gouge your eye out, better a part, than the whole. The punishment under Jesus is an eternity in Hell. (Matthew 5:27)
7) Peter says that all slaves should “be subject to [their] masters with all fear,” to the bad and cruel as well as the “good and gentle.” This is merely an echo of the same slavery commands in the Old Testament. 1 Peter 2:18
8) “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law" (John7:19) and “For the law was given by Moses,..." (John 1:17).
9) “...the scripture cannot be broken.” --Jesus Christ, John 10:35

I'm still waiting for bigzak to respond to all of those New Testament quotes that tell us not to ignore the Old Testament. If they are also inspired by the devil, then the entire Bible is.
Not to intrude on whatever conversation is going on between all the people debating here, but as someone passing by and reading the interpretations of the Gospel that you posted...there's a lot of bullshit in there IMHO. Obviously, anyone can read whatever they want into it (that's half the fun!), but I think Raptor Jesus intended something quite different based on his actions in the New Testament and that post just smelt of a biased agenda on account of whoever bothered reading those versions of the bible.
No one's going to get it all right, devil or Christ inspired, it's all an approximation.

There's no point in trying to have a discussion with Mouse. He dodges questions all the time and makes himself look like an idiot.
Mouse tried to discredit the Big Bang Theory because a science fiction writer came up with the name "Big Bang Theory." Keep in mind that this science fiction writer came up with the name to mock the theory because he didn't actually believe it himself.
After coming to the logical conclusion that a scientific theory can't be true if a science fiction writer named it, Mouse thought he "owned" me.

This thread is FULL of WIN. None of it from bigzax, of course - not in the way he intended anyhow.
There are so many things I'd like to say, Zack, but I'll stick with this:
Jesus the Christ was not the perfect Christian; he was Jewish, quite proudly so.
You really, really need to stop talking. You are only doing your cause harm by your ridiculous statements and back-tracking and totally made-up nonsense. Half the stuff you claim to believe isn't biblical at all (leaving aside the issues with things that ARE biblical); it's exigent philosophies. For that matter, your understanding of Lucifer is pretty skewed as well and not really biblical.
Which makes me think perhaps this is simply a smashing troll job.
That said - Jekka, my offer to marry you (and Manny) stands. I would totally go polygamous and bi-sexual for you.

I don't feel I need justification for my unbelief. I am curious about what people believe, and why. I merely ask questions so that others may reflect on their beliefs and determine if they are held for valid reasons; that's not so wrong, is it?
There is no way of proving your comments' sincerity... so, were I to take them at face value, my response would be, "fair enough."
I'm ok with that, with one exception. Why would you punish people who didn't have faith with you? I could understand God saying, "Look, you didn't have faith in me, so you're not set up for Heaven." That's at least debatably fair. But I don't see the justification for eternal punishment.
Eternal life IS defined by coming to know GOD, and acknowledging JESUS' role in the defeat of sin according to John 17. Those who reject GOD are basically turning their back on that communion. GOD basically says, "this is your choice? To reject my Son? To reject the gift of salvation that was attained by spilling the blood of He who knew not sin? Since that is your choice, and your choice alone - now you must live with the consequences of that choice - eternally apart from me".
After all, if our free will wasn't paired along with the accountability for our choices, then what would be the point of having it? In other words, if we don't willingly choose GOD; we've essentially rejected Him. Consider this, the demons that decided to side with satan are no longer redeemable either.
Another thing, you might not see or understand "the justification for eternal punishment"... but we are not GOD, HE is. Our reasoning and His reasoning aren't even on the same footing.

But what are you praying to, man? This is a pretty bizarre thing you've constructed out of random passages of scripture and philosophies you don't understand.
It's just unreal. Seriously - there is no logic in this at all. None. There is no support for your wild claims - Lucifer poses as God in the OT? The OT is unnecessary, because there is a NT? You don't believe it, but you do?
The contradictions you've presented here are nearly as astounding as those contained in the bible, which utterly fails as a hermeneutical exercise, btw, because of the internal inconsistencies.
You aren't bringing glory to God. You are being judgmental and asinine. Only True Believers, as defined by your half-assed, unschooled, scripturally inaccurate ideas, understand love?
You are delusional.
You want to make a difference. Live your life well. Stop preaching on the internet - that is the opposite of humility. You are utterly filled with pride, and you don't even see it. In fact, you'll give some ridiculous answer to this that tries to turn it around and lays everything at God's feet.

Another thing... it appears bigzak has been trolling everyone for months (years, if one accounts for his flip-flopping ways... going way back)... but the concept that the GOD of the Old Testament and the New Testament are somehow different is erroneous without the context of the Covenants GOD established between Himself and mankind...
The New Covenant under the grace of Jesus' blood, protects us from facing the consequences of our actions as would otherwise be required if we were still under the Old Covenant (under the Law).
GOD is HOLY and still demands payment for our sin; JESUS thus established a bridge to the Father whereby we are covered by His blood and aren't subjected to the only valid form of payment: death.
GOD IS forever unchanging.... our accessability to Him, however, HAS changed by virtue of those covenants.
That right there is the concept people seem to conveniently ignore as they ramble on about the supposed inconsistencies in GOD's nature. Only they don't really care to understand. It makes them feel better to believe that GOD can't exist if that ambivalent nature were to hold any weight. To each their own...

YOu don't even read the word of God, and you doubt it. If you have doubt of scripture, why not just be honest and question Jesus christ and his existence, or the validity of God?
Afterall human beings don't need lucifer to cause terror on this earth, man is already fallen to sin. Man is already biologically driven to choose death over life, to be whimsical, to think of the short term gain at the expense of the longterm gain, cheat, lie, and justify all in the name of self esteem. Why do we need a Ying and a yang, or opposing forces.

I am not certain, but I feel that God has a higher calling for me and that I will not see the year 2013 on earth. I have cried a bit about it this morning as I will miss my family, but I am accepting my destiny if it is in fact what I believe it to be.
As for Spurstalk, I plan for tonight to be my last night posting here. I know many are eye rolling at that statement because "no one ever leaves"...but I feel my work here is done and that it is time for me to move on and not look back. Midnight is what I feel is appropriate. So if I don't get to say it later, God Bless you all, and know that I truly do love you all.
You've got serious issues, dude.
If this isn't simply an amazingly thorough, longterm troll-job, then I truly do feel sorry for your wife and kids.
Perhaps you should consider smoking pot again.
Honest to god, I would feel a lot better about your poor kids if you've been trolling the shit of us for months now.

Leetonidas, I feel that the date is symbolic of us entering the age of enlightenment. I do feel the world as we know it is going to end one day, but I do not know that day or year...and I will say that when that day comes, it will be a glorious day, for the world as we know it currently, sucks, and I for one, look forward to it's end.

Jesus would not bestow plagues on the Egyptians. Jesus would love his neighbor as Himself.
Jesus would not collapse the walls of the Red Sea on the Egyptians to kill them. Thou shalt not kill.
Jesus staff would not turn into a Serpent, but perhaps a Dove. The serpent is symbolic of the deceiver.
"For GOD so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For I have not come to condemn the world, but that the world may be saved through me." - JESUS
Clearly, JESUS already extended salvation to humanity. His act of redemption, and His triumph over death occurred in the past, "once and for all eternity"... we simply have to believe and acknowledge it.
That said, read about what JESUS will do to those that don't believe in the book of Revelations (last book of the New Testament).
Jesus will say, "I do not know you. Apart from me!"
Jesus is described as having a sword in his mouth, and radiant blazing eyes like the sun. He will wreck destructive havoc on the enemy.
He will defeat satan once and for all, and cast him and all his followers to the lake of fire...
Again, RIGHT NOW, this very moment, we are living under the grace of the New Covenant. But GOD is Righteous and Holy. Sin will be dealt with accordingly because GOD's attributes demand as much.
Besides, Lucifer couldn't have orchestrated the Israelite's exodus out of Egypt... He had no idea about GOD's redemptive plan, how or when it would unfold. The mesianic template (archetype) left by the exodus events, mimic what JESUS eventually fulfilled in the New Testament. There's no way one can believe that satan would mimic GOD's eventual plan - when he couldn't have known its details (so many I don't even have the time to explain them fully).
Just come to terms with the reality that GOD exacts justice as He sees fit. Unfortunately, for many of those that lived before JESUS' earthly lifespan, those that lived during the time of the Old Covenant, they managed to see GOD's justice up close and personal.

The ONLY thing that made JESUS different had nothing to do with sin, salvation, heaven,hell,blah,blah.....
it was that he was AWAKE
that is it
HE WAS AWAKE
and THAT
is what this is all about
NOT: repentance, rewards,punishment, heaven,hell,satan.ad nauseum
it is to be awake,
because one is incapable of evil when one is awake
sinners or whatever you want to call them only commit evil when they are asleep---when they don't know---NOT in awareness
that is what is meant by ...forgive them for they know not what they do...
it was because they were not yet awake
and jesus was

There is no way of proving your comments' sincerity... so, were I to take them at face value, my response would be, "fair enough."
Thanks. I think that everyone should examine their beliefs deeply. (The important ones, of course. I'm not expecting anyone to reflect greatly on why they believe Mountain Dew is better than Coca-Cola.)
But "apart from me" isn't quite the same as Hell is usually depicted. If God is perfect, and our creator, I would assume that what is generally "moral" for humanity is moral for God. If I were to give a gift to someone, and they rejected it, it would be moral, of course, for me to decide to cut ties with them. We would not consider it moral, however, to punish someone for not accepting a gift. Agreed?
Another thing, you might not see or understand "the justification for eternal punishment"... but we are not GOD, HE is. Our reasoning and His reasoning aren't even on the same footing.
Yes, but with a statement like this, how can you justify his actions? If we can not "know his ways" as it were, then how can anyone say what is justified and what is not?
I believe in a system of morality based on rationality and liberty. Many of the Ten Commandments follow these guidelines, as did Jesus. But if God allows for slavery, punishes far greater than one would expect, etc etc, how can these actions be moral in any sense other than "It's God, so it's different"?

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

One need not look terribly far into it - the mere fact that multiple translations exist is evidence of the fact that there are issues.
Just compare translations - the word choice the translator uses influences the context and meaning of the sentence, sometimes in profound ways.
Like that favorite passage at weddings? I Corinthians 13? The great 'love is' passage?
The original English translation was Charity. And it is perhaps a better word choice from the original language. But there is a difference in meanings between charity and love.
Because love used in this passage could mean something entirely different from love used in another passage.
It's always, always worth remembering that the Bible is a translated work and it is translated by man. Leaving all the compilation (political image crafting) aside - that should make one wary of over-reliance on the Bible.
