I played that Turbo Tunnel so many times that I got good enough at it to beat it without dying about 50% of the time. It doesn't get easier after that though.

Silver Surfer is worse.

There was no reason to play SS because it sucked. Battletoads was hard, but awesome and a blast to play.

My brother spent a good chunk of one summer working towards beating that. Granted anything less than the Dark Queen coming out of the TV to strip and perform BJs would have been a let down after that much work, but he was just about ready to snap the cartridge in half after going through all that just for the standard "Congratulations! A winner is you!" ending.

I beat that goddamned level one time. I had achieved the perfect haze of reef, rum and Wendy's, and managed to fly through it like a champ. I'm pretty sure I flirted with ethereal realms on the final sequence as my fingers darted through the proper commands to complete the course. And then in a moment of euphoric gaming victory, I reached the final bar and the end of the course.

I, too, promptly got my ass handed to me on that following fucking ice level, and haven't played Battletoads since.
