That's going to be the true test. He's going to have his nights when his scoring is not there...and when that happens his whole game seems to suffer. If he can hustle and make plays regardless of how well he is scoring, he can really help this team.

If the amount of minutes were a sign of a player getting cut, he would have been cut a long time ago.
I'm guessing they know he can ball in this league from what he showed last year with the Wizards and want to see what Simmons has left in his tank. Or maybe I'm wrong, he's probably injured or in Pop's dog house although if either of these scenarios were true, he would have been cut already.

San Antonio Spurs 111, Houston Rockets 103: The preseason is over (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/)
by Jesse Blanchard
48 Minutes of Hell
AT&T Center–A little lighter on the roster, and a little lighter on their feet, the San Antonio Spurs ended the preseason with a 111-103 victory over the Houston Rockets literally running full speed ahead into the regular season.
The run and gun Spurs nearly doubled up the Rockets in fast break points, outscoring them 19-7 on transition buckets in the second half (30-18 overall).
That the Rockets shot over 50% in the first half brings cause for concern, but overall San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was pleased with the pace.
“We would certainly like to keep up the pace a bit, get a little bit longer outlets and attack a little more after makes,” Popovich said. “We will continue that, I think it helped us.”

I wouldn't hate Bonner if he were used properly.
My definition of "used properly" is he enters the game at either forward position when matchups dictate having a bigger body in there and he defends, grabs rebounds and shoots threes for a few minutes. If he isn't hitting his shots AND doing at least one of the other two things, then he's put back on the bench. This happens a maximum of twice a game. Rinse and repeat. Either Bonner gets 4 minutes of game time and goes 0-2 or he gets 15 minutes and goes 4-6. If he has one of those rare nights where everything's working, then you let him play 25 minutes, but he never starts and never gets put into the game for any reason other than to shoot the ball.

I don't mind Bonner getting minutes in the regular season when one of the three players are out (TD, Splitter, and Blair). He is a guy Pop doesn't need to coach on how to play the system. But that's just it, he is decent for the regular season but not good enough to play minutes in the Playoffs.

Popovich pleased with Anderson's aggressiveness (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/popovich_pleased_with_andersons_aggressiveness_105 581063.html?showFullArticle=y)
By Mike Monroe
Gregg Popovich liked the offensive aggressiveness Anderson displayed in the last couple of preseason games, especially in the fourth quarter of Thursday's preseason finale against the Houston Rockets at the AT&T Center.
“I thought James Anderson was more aggressive, looking for some shots,” he said. “It's a good sign that they're playing and taking what's available out there, not just going through the motions.”
