Was she a model or something? I knew she was pretty, but I didn't realize that.
Even though it wouldn't be as bad (for the Spurs) if it were a former teammate's wife, it would still be damaging. I bet Brent was good friends with some (if not all) of those guys. I hope it's not true.

Banging some french model is one thing - but a teammate's wife? It doesn't matter whether it's a current or former teammate. If this was another NBA team, this would be easily brushed aside. However, this is the Spurs. The organization that routinely flies "under the radar". The Spurs have built their culture and organization around family values. If TP did do this, this would somewhat akin to bedding your brother's wife. And would've screwed up not only his family, but that of a teammate - where kids are affected.
If this is true, the ramifications could be great. TP will be looked upon quite differently by his friends, fans and more importantly - his immediate family - his teammates. How's that going to look?
After that, I wonder WHEN the pressure will start getting to him. We've already seen the end results that this type of scandal had on the great Tiger Woods, who some have compared to Michael Jordan, in terms of his mental toughness.
If this is true, and I hope it's not, there's just no telling what affect this will have on his performance. This could be real, real bad.

I think if it's with one of one the main Spurs players (any starter or important role player), past or present, it's going to have some effect. If it's a former player...I'm not so sure it will effect the locker room too much. I know that a guy like Manu has standards that he lives by and will definitely form his own opinion over something like this, for example. But if it's with a former player's wife, I don't see Manu (for example, because he's more outspoken than Tim and no other core players have been here long enough to be truly pissed at something like this) creating drama over this, simply because we all know how much this dude wants to win another championship...just like most players on the team. I think he'd be the type of guy to factor this in to any potential decision.
If it's with a current player's wife, then I have no idea how this plays out. It's also pure speculation at this point, no one really knows right now.
I just can't believe it at this point, what a fuckin clown.

That was my first reaction too. But in view of Brent's and Erin's local popularity it is only slightly better.
Don't get me wrong I'm not getting all moral like some other people in here. Adultery is an unfortunate fact of life. But there are certain things that are just too big to simply try to ignore.
IF it is true, I'm not going to judge what he did (not my place), but I do think he needs to be away from the team.
Brent and Erin have nothing to do with the team. Yes, it's unfortunate for the community.

So, let's stop for a minute and answer a few questions:
IF it's with Erin Berry, does it hurt Spurs chemistry?
IF it's with a current player's wife, what happens?
I mean seriously, if he truly cheated with another player's wife, how's that going affect the team currently? I don't know about the atmosphere around the Spurs, but how will Duncan and Manu react?
BL
Anyone think Manu and Tim, probably his closest teammates, will view TP differently now?

If it turned out to be with a current player's wife... Shitstorm city.

Otherwise, cheating is a thing, but cheating with a women with 2 kids...

I think yes. I remember reading about Timmy and how Amy didn't want to marry him because she was afraid she'd be one of those NBA wives who got cheated on because the husband was away so much of the time. Timmy spent the better part of a year convincing Amy that wouldn't happen to her and that he'd be faithful. So I think it's safe to say Timmy values fidelity - and I think he'll be upset with Tony. I get the impression Manu is a real family man and I think he'll not look kindly on Tony's infidelity.

I think the culture of the lockerroom is professional enough to separate what's on and off the court. What could lead to some tension is the media shit storm this is going to attract to a team that seemingly prides itself on drawing as little attention as possible. Unlike a situation say, a drug bust or something that really only boils down to one party involved, there's a lot of players in this little drama. Tony can sew his mouth shut and there's still going to be plenty of people who could be ready and willing to keep talking and giving this story legs. Brent and Erin might not, but Eva's got plenty of personal and professional motivation to spill all the secrets she wants to. I could see guys like Pop being pissed to the point of disruption by all this.

Manny,
It doesn't matter if it's TP & Erin Barry, or Joe Lopez and Juan's wife..
A person who does something like this has zero repsect for thier friend or spouse..

This stuff happens, whether youre offended by this (understandable) or not, this is the world we live in. Nothing new to see in this thread and those that are upset by this... it wont be the first or last time you read about this stuff.
This. Also, if this is true (and nobody can say definitively at this point), it's likely that this is a case of two people that were in situations that were not gratifying for them and they gravitated to one another as a result. Shared experience.
Is it the right thing to do? Of course not. But does it happen? Of course it does. And in numerous situations beyond infidelity.

Yeah, it's a lot easier to count the squawking chickens than the names that don't appear in these threads.
Definitely sad for the couple, but nobody knows what really happened but them. 18 pages of speculation is a bit much. They seemed happy enough, but living clean under the Hollywood lights is tough.
All that really matters to me is all of this better not fuck with Tony's head or game.

Yeah that's why she didn't file in Texas. In Texas, she couldn't get spousal support unless there was abuse (since they have a pre-nup).
Anyway, yeah she is definitely bitter, spilling their business to Mario/the press. It's crazy to me that she did the interview with USWeekly about the texts (in the issue that came out today) ahead of time, and then filed for divorce on the day the issue came out. That's why her reps denied the divorce yesterday -- the rumors were ruining her plan to reveal it today :lol

I think it's safe to say that 99.999% of the people here at Spurs Talk are not personal friends with any Spurs players.
I know a couple of our members do have regular contact with them, but the assumption that none of them are in the loop enough to know exactly what's going on with Tony and Eva's marital situation is not a reach in the slightest. So unless someone would like to come forward and say they have insider information and want to share it on SpursTalk, what Manny said is accurate.
