I would trade Artest for Ariza right about now. I would say they are both equal defensively, however Ariza is much better offensively.

Why would the Hornets make that trade?

Why would the Hornets make that trade?

it was a rhetorical statement.

Artest said a while back that he still doesn't understand the triangle offense, and that Phil told him just to stand in a corner, or he would get yelled at

Artest has never had much of an offensive game. No handles, shaky jumper, can barely finish around the rim. He's also a poor rebounder for his size. His only saving grace is his defense. Laker fans had to know what they were getting when that signing went down. They got a great preview during the 2009 playoffs when Artest shot his team out of the postseason.

And nobody could play as bad as Keith Bogans this year. He's worthless on both ends. Giving him a wide open shot is almost like a turnover. Thibs has finally started giving him limited minutes and increasing Ronnie Brewer's time on the floor.

He's just distracted thinking who is he going to donate the other half of his salary for this year...

he pretty much cant shoot but still focuses on defense, and is tough on the block, most games i see him boxing out everyone for a rebound. i even remember when he had a no jump layup.

Ron-Ron just needs to get traded to another team that runs traditional motion offense or high-low post offense like Miami.

Bogans and Mason are easily 2 of the worst players in the league.

And Spurs advanced to round 2 with these playing heavy minutes :wow

Matt Barnes, Shannon Brown, age, and another season of Phil Jackson is what happened to Artest (I don't think he and Phil are a good combo for 2 or more seasons).

Ron was never really the "perfect" fit with the Lakers at the small forward position. His skill set doesn't really fit the triangle. He's not a move-without-the-ball type of guy to find the open gaps in the triangle and he's not a pure three point shooter. He's adequate enough at both but certainly not the ideal type of guy. A better fit for the Lakers at SF would be one of Ron's former teammates, a guy like Stephen Jackson.

Artest's defense was obviously the appeal, and his size and strength do help against guys like LeBron and Carmelo and Pierce. But he's never been a really explosive athlete. He's got plenty of size, bulk, and strength, but he's not an elite run and jump athlete. Plus, his best years at Indiana allowed him to get some midpost isos where he can muscle his defender to the rim. He doesn't get those opportunities with the Lakers and with Kobe and Gasol and Bynum working the pivot. He's a spot-up jumper with the Lakers and that's not who he is.

I think maybe he's lost interest or is frustrated because he doesn't get to use the strengths in his game. With Fisher also falling off the cliff, Artest certainly needs to up his game.

I see Barnes starting in a few month's time. He's a snug-fit in the Tri

He's probably on his medication. When he's on his meds and balanced, he's not as good on the court. (That's not saying that I think he should go off his meds).
