Well, I don't know exactly what it is you are hung up with what a preacher says--so I can't discuss that-because preachers say so many things...
religion is a whole other debate...
I was talking about spirituality and truth...not about religion.
^ this man gets it. You can talk about afterlife without bringing in Jesus every 2 minutes.
Blake and others want you to hitch your points on the religion and Bible wagon so they can come down on you like johnsmith on a new gay pron site.
They have tons of links to use hoping you pull out the Bible card but it isn't going to happen.
And yeah, who didn't know this thread would become a science vs faith thread?

Very, very simple question.

You stated that I am full of it...then ask me to prove something you are hung up on...this doesn't make sense.
I also answered above...that if a preacher tells anyone that GOD said anything...then how can he be right...unless he personally met god and heard it directly from god's mouth---if there is such a thing.
This pretty much tells you how a preacher is misinformed. You won't hear a mystic or a zen master quoting anything that god said because it just doesn't make sense...how can love speak? Can the eye see itself? Can the knife cut itself?
You want answers that fit into your preconceptions and you want confirmation of what you already believe or don't believe...but that is not truth-seeking...that is just seeking to confirm what you already believe.
To see truth you have to be open to whatever you might discover--even if it means to discover that you have been taught wrong...this terrifies most people because they don't really want truth. They want truth--provided they can still keep this or that or only if it fits into the box that they subscribe to.

The bible is the word of God according to the Bible.
The bible says the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Who are you to question that God could say such a thing?
This pretty much tells you how a preacher is misinformed. You won't hear a mystic or a zen master quoting anything that god said because it just doesn't make sense...how can love speak? Can the eye see itself? Can the knife cut itself?
you don't understand how the bible works, do you.
The truth is that your belief system is no better than the preacher's that you consistently dismiss.
Why do you continue to insist that the preacher is misinformed and you are not?
If you have never seen or talked to God, how do you know that nobody else has or has not? Who are you to call a preacher misinformed/lying?
You want answers that fit into your preconceptions and you want confirmation of what you already believe or don't believe...but that is not truth-seeking...that is just seeking to confirm what you already believe.

#1) I don't agree that I am arrogant--but if you feel that way--that's your deal.
#2) The bible is a book that human beings attribute to god...but no-one in the history of human beings has ever seen or heard anything directly from him....have you? In that case it is perfectly normal to question this alleged word of god. If you swallowed the lie that god wrote the bible--then who is misinformed here? And who are you to confirm that the bible is the word of god?
#3) I am not aware of any fear that prevents me from being open to the truth. I don't cling to any religion, any book or any set truth. I am open to anything in regards to life/death/spirituality/god/love... I have no conclusions of where these things lead to and I have no fear if there is or isn't an afterlife...I am perfectly content to live my time and die when it's my time..I am not the least bit worried what awaits us after this life...why are you so afraid of the unknown?

1) you being sure of yourself and sure that others misinterpret "truth" makes you arrogant by definition.
2) You still continue to miss the point. I have not confirmed that the bible is the word of God and never will.
You, however, assume that God exists yet you assume the Bible is not God's word.
Why is this? Who are you to say that your God is the right God and a preacher's God is the wrong God?
3) You don't cling to any religion or any set truth, but you constantly refer to mystics as being the ones closest to the truth.
you claim that they are right and that preachers are wrong. I don't really think you understand how Zen Buddhism works.
you are saying a bunch of different things from post to post and a lot of it is just crap in which you apparently are trying to make yourself look enlightened.

#1) Agree to disagree here, apparently.
#2) Again--your idea of who or what god is differs from what god or love is--so we can never agree here either--you can believe in any god or definition of god you want--it doesn't make it any more true than someone believing otherwise and it has nothing to do with truth--only opinions.
I never assumed there is a god by YOUR definition of god---I said that I believed god is love-no more - no less.
#3) We're going in circles here as I said a certain instance of a preachers actions...if you would like to give an example of what a preacher asserts-then I can see if we agree or disagree with said preacher--otherwise...you just keep clinging to comparing a preacher to a mystic.
If I am full of it we don't have to continue...why would you care what someone who is full of it thinks or says anyway?

You called out the bible and preachers for misinterpreting the "truth". Ive been trying to give you the opportunity to confirm this claim. Through all of that babble, the most I received from you is that "nobody has talked to God that we know of, therefore the Bible cannot be true."
Normally, there is no problem with such an answer......but then you start talking about how mystics have it right.
This is what we keep going in circles over. I think at this point, no further posts are needed to confirm that your belief system is no more logical than a christian preacher's.
If anything, your belief system seems less logical.
