Bonner's lack of effort at getting to loose balls has been glaring. At least twice he's tiptoed his ass on the court and backpedaling instead of hustling and diving for loose balls.

And we re-signed him.......WHY??????

Situations like this are precisely why RJ was brought in. To provide a steadying hand, veteran leadership and talent when the Spurs Big 3 are struggling, or even out.

Hill/Blair/Neal are role players for a reason, they have flaws in their game. They're great role players and can boost a team for stretches, but not capable of carrying a team for a game (well...once in a while maybe). RJ has shown that ability in the past.

All the hard work during the season and this slide will likely cost us the lead in the standings. Slumping at the wrong time while other teams are tightening the screws. I have been patient with Pop this year, but this is getting fucking ridiculous. All the work the Spurs have done at the start of the season to obtain the #1 seed is now in jeopardy. If the Spurs somehow blow their chance to hold on to the top seed in the conference there is know way they will win the championship.

The starters have to play on Thursday, it is critical that the Spurs stop the bleeding now and get a statement win against a playoff team.

Complaining because he is a role player like you said so he doesn't have to shoot all the balls like he did in the 4th.

Hill was scoring pretty well but he didn't see the ball until it was too late because Neal didn't pass the ball to anyone.

Nevermind the fucking refs who received the memo to fuck us in the ass (40 free throws to denver, fucking bullshit foul on Batum which I saw live, no one touched the nigga, and now this bullshit with calling a jump ball when Hill was calling TO). The refs might just fuck us once or twice a quarter, but those calls lead to 4 point swings.

my thoughts:

-Bonner and neal should have been taking out early, and combined for a total of-26

- Neal completely throws GH3 off of his game, and that might explain why GH3 has played less aggressive this year.

-Neal shot selection was awful, and he took a couple very early in the shotclock.

-Green and Anderson played great and should have been rewarded with more playing time over Neal and Dick.

-Green and Anderson could turn into very good defenders for us.

-Splitter is a beast and could be an amazing addition to our frontline, wish we had incorporated him earlier, but its great to see him producing. Maybe he should get more touches in the post.

-Jefferson is completely unaggressive and missed some huge free throws.

-GH3 has remembered he has balls, and is playing great. If we need keep neal glued to the bench to see this aggression more often, then I am all for it.

LOL Pop doesn't want to play Splitter and you know it.

Tonight he was going to sit him for the whole 4th quarter again, but he looked like a total idiot at that point.

Andre Miller was outrebounding and scoring all over Blair in the post and it took Pop ages to make the change. If he was serious about winning the game he would have yanked Blair earlier and got Splitter in.

The defense totally sucks with Blair and Bonner, but at least Blair shows hustle.

Bonner was a faggot in the hustle department. Too many loose balls near him and he didn't even try to go for 1, not one single loose ball.

Portland Trail Blazers 100, San Antonio Spurs 92: The youngins keep it close, but fall short in the end (http://www.48minutesofhell.com/)
by Andrew A. McNeill
48 Minutes of Hell

AT&T CENTER – I wanted to do everything I could not to mention who played, and didn’t play, in my recap tonight. Unfortunately, it was the biggest factor in the game and has to be acknowledged.

Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were both expected not to play with injury. That wasn’t a surprise at all. But a little over an hour before game time, news came that Tony Parker and Antonio McDyess would join Duncan and Manu in street clothes.

I was at the game and the 3rd quarter energy was amazing. It was obvious the refs made a lot of shitty calls. But we were damn proud of the way all the guys hustled. They played hard-yes I had my complaints against Pop and Ginger-but I was shocked we were still in the game. This was a character building moment for the Spurs.

We will be alright. Timmy's fine and so is Parker. They were smiling and looked very relaxed.

Manu is the one really hurt. He was walking gingerly and he just looked serious and pissed most of the game. I don't think he'll be back Thursday.

Blazers hand banged-up Spurs 4th straight loss (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2011032824)
By Paul J. Weber

The Portland Trail Blazers knew they caught a break: Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were too hurt to play, and Tony Parker was a surprise late scratch, too.

Portland took advantage. Yet, it still wasn't easy.

Andre Miller scored 26 points and the Blazers, who trailed late despite San Antonio playing without four starters, rallied in the final minutes to hand the slumping and banged-up Spurs their fourth consecutive loss, 100-92 on Monday night.

"It was a trap game once we got to the arena," Blazers coach Nate McMillan said.

The Blazers beat the NBA's winningest team for the second time in three days, this time with Parker, Ginobili, Duncan and Antonio McDyess all sidelined. Parker (left knee contusion) is the most likely to be back Thursday against Boston, and McDyess (back) could also play after the 36-year-old essentially got the night off to rest for the playoffs.

Duncan (ankle sprain) and Ginobili (left quad contusion) are the question marks. Ginobili, who left Sunday's loss at Memphis early after being hurt, said he felt "much better" while jogging past reporters before the game. But his status and Duncan's remain unknown.

Gerald Wallace added 14 points for Portland and hit a crucial 3-pointer with 2:02 left, capping a quick 7-0 burst that put the Blazers back ahead. It was the finishing touch on a 15-1 run after letting the undermanned Spurs lead by as much as eight in the fourth.

"We ain't going to throw it out, because if we would have lost, we would've looked back like they didn't have their players and that was a game we needed," Miller said. "So we're trying to finish off and get some momentum going into the playoffs."

They also needed it to help their playoff jockeying. The Blazers (43-31) kept their hold on sixth place and are 1 1/2 games behind Denver for fifth.

The Spurs, meanwhile, are slipping.

George Hill led San Antonio with 27 points. The Spurs are on their longest slide all season, and their once-commanding lead in the West is shrinking with the Los Angeles Lakers surging.

San Antonio had a seven-game lead over the Lakers a week ago. But after the Spurs lost on all three stops on a road trip, and returned home to host the Blazers short-handed, the Lakers trail by just 3 1/2 games.

The Spurs (57-17) have eight games left.

"It's life. You have to deal with it and figure out how to get better," Hill said. "No one's hanging their head or thinking we're not as good as we've been all year."

Wesley Matthews scored 19 points, and Nicolas Batum had 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Blazers. Portland led throughout the first half, but lost the lead late in the third quarter when Danny Green hit a 3-pointer.

Green -- who had played all of 14 minutes this season -- followed by stealing the ball from Brandon Roy and coasting in for a wide-open dunk. After trailing by seven at halftime, the Spurs entered the fourth quarter ahead 72-67.

But Portland pulled together. Miller scored 11 points in the fourth while the Spurs missed seven of 10 3-point attempts, shooting themselves out of the game.

"If we could have added a little bit of (shooting) to the competitiveness and heart they showed, we would have been in great shape," Popovich said.

Rookie Tiago Splitter, starting again in place of Duncan, added 14 points for the Spurs.

Popovich wouldn't guess when Duncan or Ginobili might return. Sitting McDyess, meanwhile, was just playing it safe with the playoffs imminent.

"Money time is approaching," Popovich said before the game.

NOTES: Former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown and assistant Hank Egan, both former Spurs assistants, attended the game. ... The Blazers won the season series 3-1. ... The Spurs lost for only the fourth time at home this season.

+1. This extended playing time and experience might really pay off in a Playoff game. Whether it be Hill (who is starting to come around now), Tiago (who is getting more minutes and doing better each game, Novak (who can get hot from 3), or Quinn (who is a decent 3rd string PG). At some point one or more than one of these guys might be called upon for a shot here or a rebound there or a stop here in the Playoffs, and they wont be lost when called upon with this experience now...

Mugen

btw, mad props to Hill/Neal/JA/Tiago/Quinn/Green/Novak/and even Blair for not playing scared and actually trying to seize the opportunity.

Some of the guys were too hesitant to start out but the defense was spectacular in the third and they actually made a game out of it.

With that said, no time for moral victories this late in the season and the Spurs need to pop that win cherry soon.
