I feel like the league has decided the Fakers aren't going to win it all unless they have home court advantage, so the refs have decided to screw the Spurs every chance they get these last 6 games.

shut up bitch... refs made Manu step on the line or Hill turn it over?

If the Spurs hit a reasonable percentage of the free throws they're given, they win how many of the games in this losing streak? Three? Four?

Well, they weren't quite as good as they seemed, but they kept winning at a torrid pace. Now, they are probably not as bad as they seem, but they are losing in the worst ways possible.

This isn't a slump. He had one ridiculous month and he has consistently declined since to the point he is an absolute liability. That doesn't mean he doesn't have good moments or the occasional good game. It means that overall, he is the most disappointing Spur ever (from what was expected and the lack of impact).

Well, they weren't quite as good as they seemed, but they kept winning at a torrid pace. Now, they are probably not as bad as they seem, but they are losing in the worst ways possible.

Manu is out of gas. RJ is terrible and Pop's decisions are very questionable. The rotation is jacked due to the style of play and the defense is really bad.

Agree with everything except the comment that they weren't as good as they looked. For long stretches they were playing gorgeous basketball offensively, and even put together some nice defensive stretches. We had amazing chemistry for most of the year.

All year long, Pop had Splitter sit on the bench because he didn't have enough experience.

Now Pop's afraid to play him, because he sat on the bench all year. Unfreakingbelievable.

It's like the chicken and the egg, only Pop has used the chicken to smash the egg and now the Universe has collapsed due to the paradox. :lmao

Six months of hard work to get the best record in the league and HCA throughout the playoffs is slipping away in a matter of two weeks. If the Spurs blow the #1 seed they won't win the title and the organization has no one to blame but themselves.

RJ/Ginobili/Blair/Bonner continue to play like shit. This is the wrong time of year to be slumping.

And Gregg Popovich might be the only coach I've ever witnessed who thinks he can get away with not using his best personnel.

:lol Things are bad because of the nature of the losses and now literally having no gap between the Spurs and LA, but the Spurs are not as bad as they look. They are not playing terrible, but they are regressing on defense and being severely punished for all of their missteps which isn't always the case.

However, they are bringing a lot of that on themselves. If Manu can get some extra juice, this team will still make the WCF imo.

Because Pop is waiting for Bonner to shoot his way out of his slump. It's that simple.

Pop is like that guy at the poker table who hit one big hand, and is just out of his luck since. He'll keep buying in, paying the blinds and losing his chips, just waiting for another house or flush to strike.

Sure, it's great when that hand flops. But you are never gonna run the table that way.

I still think this team will get to the WCF. But, it is all about the Lakers. For the Spurs to win the title, they have to beat the Lakers.

The Spurs can make that a lot easier on themselves by locking up that #1 seed. If they lose it, that will have lingering effects on this team, especially if they start a series in LA. Five years ago HCA would've been a non-issue,but this team isn't as mentally tough as the other Spurs teams. They need that #1 seed.

Some post-game quotes.

Rockets hand Spurs 6th straight loss with OT win (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2011040110)

Even a late rally couldn't end the longest losing streak of Tim Duncan's career.

Kevin Martin scored 33 points, including nine in overtime, and the Houston Rockets handed the San Antonio Spurs their sixth straight loss with a 119-114 victory on Friday night.

San Antonio hadn't dropped six in a row since April 10-20, 1997, and the big lead it held atop the Western Conference continues to dwindle over the hard-charging Los Angeles Lakers.

The Spurs lead the Lakers by only 1 1/2 games with another meeting scheduled.

"We're going to see what we are made out of, if we can dig down deeper," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "We'll see if we are worth the way we played this season or not."

The Rockets withstood the Spurs' best comeback efforts in the second half.

"In my mind, that might be the best one we've had all year because you have this team [Spurs] come in here and they lost five in a row, which they haven't done in decades," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "They are fighting the Lakers for the best record."

The Spurs, down by 11 points late in the third quarter, forced overtime on a free throw by Duncan with 18 seconds left in regulation that tied it at 108.

Martin took over in overtime, scoring nine of Houston's 11 points.

Luis Scola had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets, Kyle Lowry added 14 points, and Chuck Hayes had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

"It was a great game," Scola said. "The Spurs are the best team in the NBA. There's not one season where they don't play great. It's always a fun game to play. It's always a big game. It's a rivalry match. Because of all those things I like to play against them."

The Rockets are three games behind Memphis for the No. 8 playoff spot in the West.

"We're in a little playoff series," Scola said. "We've got six games left and we need to win them all."

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 31 points. Duncan had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Manu Ginobili added 23 points.

The Rockets took a 64-56 lead into the second half and extended it to 79-68 with 5:46 to go in the third quarter. Parker scored eight points over the rest of the period and cut Houston's lead to 87-85 heading to the fourth.

"They are all tough losses now," Parker said. "We are not making plays at the end of games. We have to stay positive and hope it turns our way. We'll see what we're made of."

The Rockets have won eight of nine home games since the All-Star break. Their one loss was to San Antonio.

Houston edged to a 31-27 first-quarter lead with a 9-4 run near the end of the period. Trailing 23-22, Lowry scored five points and Martin added four in the run. Parker kept the Spurs close with 13 points. Lowry had 10 points in the quarter for the Rockets.

Courtney Lee had 12 points for the Rockets and pestered Ginobili much of the game.

"Our sense of urgency is way up there," Lee said. "It helps being at home, protecting home court and the crowd and fans behind us helps us out a lot. So, we have to carry it over to the next game and just every game from there."

NOTES: Houston has not won a season series against San Antonio since the 1996-96 season. The Spurs won this season series 3-1 ... Scola was a second-round draft pick (56th overall) of the Spurs in the 2002 NBA draft. ... Duncan holds the Toyota Center record with seven blocked shots on Dec. 9, 2004. ... Popovich needs three victories to move into third place on the list for most career victories with one team. Popovich has 793. Celtics coach Red Auerbach currently is second with 795 victories.

Five quick takes: Pop’s late sideline eruption was perfectly understandable (http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/2011/04/01/five-quick-takes-pops-late-show-of-emotion-was-perfectly-understandable/)
by Tim Griffin

...Want to know how frustrating this skid has become?

Check out Gregg Popovich late in overtime when his team didn’t heed his call for a late foul. The way he slammed his clipboard might have been his biggest show of emotion this season.

It’s understandable why. San Antonio has squandered a seemingly safe 7-game lead on March 20 to only 1½ games only 11 days later after the Lakers’ 96-85 comeback victory at Utah later Friday night.

Watching your team fold like that would have made you irate, too.

Who could blame Popovich?

Look, you know I am not one for the "black and silver linings" in a loss. But I am stunned with how good Tim looks (hopefully his ankle is ok). Same with TP. If those two really can play at the level they have shown in the past two games (minus the boneheaded mistakes), Spurs are still going to be tough. That is about the end of the positives from me though.

I am very worried about Manu, but if someone is struggling, I would rather it be him because I trust that the fire in Manu won't let him quit. At this point in their careers, Manu more than anyone can still impact the game positively even when he is playing bad. I also trust Manu to work himself out of this more than anyone else. I am not saying that will happen, but that if anyone can do it, it's Manu.

Get/Keep the Big 3 healthy. Hold the number one seed. Hope the supporting cast just makes the shots they are supposed to make.

Here's what I don't get about all of the post-game reactions. The team could have won the game if Tim Duncan had: either completed his shot after getting fouled (he just threw the ball in the direction of the basket) for an AND-1,
or if he had both of his free throws.

Dammit. Tim is the guy making 22 million f'ing dollars a year. Stop blaming the losses on guys who are making just a fraction of what he is making. He wants the ball at the end of games? Fine. He wants the refs to call the fouls? Fine. JUST MAKE THE DAMN FREE THROWS!!!

48 Minutes of Hell

After the Spurs’ Game 3 loss to the Suns in last year’s playoffs, there was a scene from the locker room that has stuck in my mind. Tim Duncan was sitting on the floor with Gregg Popovich crouching down beside him. Their once great defense had been shredded for a third consecutive game, especially on Steve Nash-led high screen and rolls. The series had come unraveled, and they didn’t have answers.

I'm not sure he's making quite that much but I get your point. The big three are making over half of the entire payroll on this team, but they are playing exactly like they did last year when the Suns spanked them out of the second round. Pop needs to box Parker and bitch slap Ginobili and tell them that proper execution in the 4th means taking care of the ball and making the right plays(yes guys, you have to run the damn play and pass the ball to the open man). I don't care if the three of them score 75 in the first 3 quarters, a couple of bad plays in the 4th will over shadow.:nope

@Obstructed_View: You did bail on the Spurs. You should never hope the Spurs lose and LA wins IMO.

Them's fightin' words!

The voice of reason. Hope Tim isn't hurt badly, he's looking badass..seriously!

Damnit. Best season ever and in the end they still found a way to fuck everything up SMH.

Only the spurs could manage a low like this after such a great season. They are getting ready for the play-off run. Lower our expectations once again, do a bit of over-achieving and then give it away.

Grasping for straws here but saw some sort of flexibility from Pop when he went back to Blair starting in the second half. Too bad that faith didn't extend into 4th where it became Dice and Bonner time once again.

Matt Bonner complained of series of prank calls at Houston hotel: "Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe is NOT calling me at 2 in the morning."

Worst crank call, Bonner says, were the one claiming to have an emergency involving his mother.
