Dirk4MVP, what do you think of Tyson's argument that Dirk is ahead of Duncan?

It's fun to make big shitty jokes, but Duncan is the only PF (even if he is actually a C) CLEARLY ahead of Dirk. Any other PF, and there is a debate.

I would say that's pretty accurate. The Spurs have been on a slow decline for a few years now. They fought the young, physical Grizzlies hard, but they didn't have the guns, gas or legs to overcome.

The Lakers got swept (by another veteran team) coming off a championship season. I would call that a collapse.

The Spurs were the #1 seed in the best and most competitive western conference in recent memory.

Saying the Lakers collapsed instead of being completely outplayed by the Mavericks seems to be slighting what the Mavericks accomplished. LA was projected to come out of the West and win the title by most.

’’ But he saved his highest praise for Dirk Nowitzki, wanting to be so certain to properly frame the moment that he pulled from his pocket a list of “the 13 guys in NBA history who’ve been league MVP, Finals MVP and 10-time All-Star. Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson,

Did he list Tim Duncan, Shaq and Hakeem? He didn't in that interview and they've all done it. Do you have this list in print? I'll I've got is that audio on that video and Carlisle leaves out those guys.

Whoever said Dirk is ahead of Duncan has lost their fucking mind. Anyone else is up in the air as Dirk has one of the best offensive game the NBA has ever seen. But Duncan is > Dirk no questions asked, no debate.

I honestly didn't mean that as a slight to the Mavs. They absolutely whipped the Lakers. However, the Lakers, as a repeating champion, absolutely collapsed. They are not mutually exclusive concepts.

And . . . "ohmywrecker"? Really?

He gave the correct number in the exit interviews. So yes, 13 all in all.

True. Career-wise it's no discussion that Duncan is ahead of Dirk. Duncan is a sure-fire Top 10 of all time, guaranteed. Dirk is right now around Top 20, I think.
