Kawhi was shooting 60% from the line. Why would you have him in the game at that point? The guy who's normally gotten the ball in that situation has been Manu. In the past he would have closed the game out at the line. This time he was too busy running away from the ball.

pretty much how I felt. DPG was right, that series would alter people's perceptions of Manu, still doesn't change how great he was for most of his career, but what a disaster of a playoffs. I can't believe Kawhi made that single FT, i figured he would miss both considering how massive the moment was for a 21 year old. after the series, the only silver lining for me was Kawhi's growth, which was shatted on when people mentioned the tendonitis. Supposedly even RC commented on it in that Hardline interview, which I haven't listened to.

but people with expertise like Man in Black think the issue is not as serious, and is something that can be dealt with better training. Just hoping to see him reach his potential with this team.

He did just that, showing on several occasions he can be looked to as a primary scorer in a pinch, and he was at his best in the NBA Finals. Now we are once again hoping to see him take yet another step offensively. For what its worth, I'm glad he's finally healthy.

What are your thoughts on how he will fare this season, at least statistically? After averaging 7.9 points per game in his rookie campaign (8.6 in the playoffs), he brought those numbers up to 11.9 ppg (13.5 in the playoffs, and of course, 14.6 and 11.9 in the finals), while keeping his shooting percentage efficient (49.3 his rookie year, 49.4 last year, 54.5 thesee past playoffs, and 51.3 on the biggest stage).

A lot of players make "the leap" in their third year. Even though their games are different, a guy we always like to compare Kawhi to is Paul George. In George's rookie season, he averaged 7.8 ppg (Kawhi averaged 7.9). In his sophomore season, George averaged 12.1 (Kawhi averaged 11.9). Last year was George's 3rd year and he blossomed into one of the better players in the league. Now, Kawhi won't make that quantum leap because he isn't being asked to be the Spurs #1 player right now. His numbers won't match Paul George. But his development can. I would be thrilled if he can put up a consistent 16 ppg while continuing to hone is skills on defense.

He won't be the primary option, so probably fewer raw stats, better efficiency than PG. Really interested to see if his 3 point percentage holds up. My guess is probably 14-15 ppg, 6-7 rpb, 1.5 steals, 1 block as the number 3 option.

You can't live in the mid range unless your name is Nowitski. It's too inefficient, and the Spurs are all about the advanced stats. In SA's offense, it should really only be used as a change of pace to make them honor your shot, and not retreat too far on the drive.

Asked after the game Wednesday how the dunk felt, Leonard said, “It felt like any other dunk, it wasn’t anything special.”

I think KL may be my favorite player of all time, I've been supporting him against the haters since day 1, there have been a handful of others that have too seen the potential in this man possessed from the very start. It's been amazing to see him develop these few years he's been in the NBA and finally reach his goal of becoming an nba champion and finals MVP.

He'll have a target on his back next year, and the # of quality SF's in the NBA is stacked, but I think he can handle it. Things like becoming friends with his favorite player of all time (Jordan), meeting with all sorts of celebs, being recognized by his peers as a star etc. can do A LOT for him mentally. When you have supreme confidence you can do anything, and I think that's something Ky has gained these past few months.

I look forward to seeing his true ability next year, RIP nba.

Jimmer was talking shit all game and then he was a little bitter towards the end.


That's also pretty much what I heard. After Jimmer talking trash all game and losing 72-54, with 90 sec left, Kawhi banked a 3 and with time expiring Jimmer reminded him that BYU won the last 4. After the game KL said they had mutual respect .
