How many does Manu need to win the bet?
It's tough for Manu to score 20 points with the amount of shots/minute she is getting. 20 points on only 10 shots tonight is very efficient.

Manu is the man! Single-handedly took over in the last 4 minutes or so. Been a lot of bitchin' so far this season from the board, but I feel it's been pretty magical so far. Duncan and Ginobili continue to defy their age and we are relatively healthy. Now if only Leonard can get it going...

If Manu continues shooting as well as he currently is, it will be the second-best shooting performance of his career, tbh.

I legitimately wasn't even trolling when I made the bet with you in the first place, tbh :rollin. Manu had fallen so far not only from a health standpoint but from a confidence standpoint as well that I actually didn't think he could pull it off.
Now that we're here, let's hope he doesn't waste any more of his 20 point games in the regular season, tbh. If he busts out a slew of 20 point games during the playoffs then I don't even mind losing the bet.

yeah, I thought you were selling him way short. He's not the old Manu, but he still has a lot of game left. We don't play Miami every game. His health is the biggest issue at this point. I wouldn't mind one more 20+ pts game, tbh... enjoy him while he's still around.

I am so relieved with Manu so far. He may bet hurt again and theres a decent chance of that, but at least when he's healthy he looks good. Even when he was healthy last year, he didn't look good. He was great to start the season, the never recovered his shot or athleticism.
He looks damn good when healthy and that's all you can hope for.

That works against Ginobili, not for him. While it's impressive that he still manages to put up his numbers while playing relatively low minutes, the media just sees him having lower numbers than guys like Crawford. Not to mention that Crawford's impact shows up very clearly in the box score since he's a scorer. Ginobili's impact via playmaking doesn't always show up.
I think Ginobili is the best bench player in the league, but I'd be surprised if he won 6MotY.

Thought it was kind of common knowledge that the 6MOTY was Manu's to lose tbh, he's had a great season and Jamal has kinda just been typical Jamal. Manu has the narrative of bouncing back after a terrible postseason working for him.
On another note, Manu has been absolutely incredible most of the year and I'm so happy to be able to watch my favorite player, tied with Timmy, still doing his thing. Here's hoping to the same in the playoffs :toast

IMO I'd have to say no tbh. He's been riddled with injuries this season, and he couldn't even get close to scoring 20 for the few games that he came back for (until...surprise surprise!...another injury).
I think it's pretty obvious that he's going to retire after next season when his contract is up. The 3 year/$40 million contract was a lifetime achievement award contract, after all. There's no way the Spurs F.O. will give him 2 lifetime achievement award contracts, and no other team in the league wants a TOSB. He's not a pure shooter like Steve Nash, and his passing abilities will be rendered useless once the league figures out that Manu's no longer a scoring threat, so he doesn't really have any skills that will allow him to stay in the league beyond the age of 35.
He can't explode at the rim with his "toothpick" ankles (lest he wants another stress fracture). His shot is pretty much gone after his hand surgery (you can tell by the way his free throws clanked off the rim to the left and right). If he plays any more than 15 minutes a game, he'll be too tired to make a 3 point shot, so that's pretty much gone. By Manu's own admission, this is without question Tony Parker's team now, so even if you disagreed with everything so far, Manu won't be taking 15-20 shots per game because he's no longer the first option (or second option...or third option IMO).
Taking into account the fact that Manu will most likely have another season ending injury next year, and taking into account the fact that it takes him 3 or 4 months to warm up and get in a good rhythm (which he doesn't have this season), I think it's a safe bet to say he'll never score 20 again.
So what do you think spurstalk, will Manu Ginobili ever score 20 points again?
