there was another thread that asked that... and i think so too. i dont think theres a guy who's ever come up big in playoff games like that who isnt in... no one. he needs to be in the HOF.

Now isn't the best time to ask.
First the Spurs have to win the series, which is still a lot of work left to do.
Then, look at his career stats, 26 mpg, 7.5 ppg, 5 rbg, 2.3 apg. I can't think of anyone else there with comparable numbers.
Michael Cooper, for one, has a bunch of rings and better stats and accolades (All-Defense, etc.) and isn't in the HoF.
xcoriate
06-20-2005, 01:13 AM
KC Jones a career 8th man made it to the Hall, with the following stats.
9 season average
7.4 ppg, .387 FG%, .647 FT%, 3.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists
Horrys season averages are better let alone his playoffs. I think the case can be made for him to be there and also for him to be the best role player ever.

Rings and MVPs are the top two methods for making the Hall...
The list of guys with 5 rings not in the Hall is a short one...Kerr and Salley won't make it...Sally will never make it...some people actually do think Kerr belongs since he's the greatest 3 PCT shooter in NBA history and he's got rings...but I don't think he'll make it.
And Kerr can't even come close to matching Horry's playoff game winners. I don't think anyone can...maybe Bird, Magic or Jordan and that's it.
If he gets 6th ring? I don't think there is anyone that has 6 rings that isn't the HOF(that's eligible)...
And there's one other thing too...
Horry owns a shit load of post season records..
Most consecutive threes...
Single game steals record in the Finals...
Most 3 pointers made in the finals...
I am pretty sure he set a couple of records tonight.
This guy belongs in the HOF.

ShoogarBear

K.C. Jones is a good retort, but even though I think he's a weak HoFer, even he has a few more credentials than Horry.
He made it in as a player, but remember the HoF doesn't distinguish between college and pro careers. In college he played on back-to-back NCAA Champs and the Olympic team. As a Celtic player, he won 8 rings. They didn't have All-Defensive teams when he played, but if they did, he would have made at least 4-5 of them.
Maybe you were joking, but he also wasn't a "career 8th man", he was the Celtics starting point guard after Cousy retired.

LMAO man this one was very similar to that one...he busted out with the same type of dunk...it's amazing how you think Horry's game is figured out and then he just does something you don't think he can do.
Poor Larry Brown, he was on the other end of that one as well.

21 fucking points...34 years old.
There is no one more clutch than Robert Horry...

I think Horry probably deserves a spot in the HOF. I'm sure if someone crunched the numbers they would find that his career averages in the last five minutes of a game are probably astronomical. With that said I wonder if he'll get that love from the voters.
And dear god I want to shoot Mason out of a fucking cannon and across the Canadian border and make those Canucks have to deal with his annoying ass. After hearing all the hoopla about this guy before game three I was actually kind of intrigued to see this guy at work, and I found myself changing the channel rather quickly. Maybe it's just that we Spurs fans are too "plain vanilla" to get it, but how on earth have the Pistons fans not got sick and tired of that annoying crap, risen up in an angry mob, and torn this idiot limb from limb?

I think Horry deserves a HOF spot, but I think his best chances of gettign it are a 2005 Spurs Ring.
Without it he'll just go down as a trivia question.
his Shoulder: I've seen him grab it all post season. As far as I know, from what I've heard, he has constant pain in one side of his body. Which sounds like a form of arthritis.. I don;t know the specific name of it but I do know that there is a type of arthritis that attacks one side.
At least he doesn't have anything to do durign the summer. He played well all this season.. I think he can keep it up for at least another 2, again, baring any major injurys.

Horry's shoulder is fixable...it's supposedly a bone spur type of thing that has been bothering him on and off since the all-star break...but at 34 he may decide that the risk/reward of surgery/rehab is not worth it...

Shoggarbear...I am not really trying to argue with you here...
Cooper was a great player but I do think Horry is better.
FWIW, I agree that Cooper deserves to be in the Hall...but the fact that he isn't has nothing to do with whether or not Horry deserves to be there.
I don't know jack about Paul Silas' impact in winning titles, he was before my time and I can't recall ever seeing him play even in my dimmest memories...
But Cooper? He played on teams with at least 3 other HOF'ers on them...
Ditto Silas.
And does Silas even have 5 rings?
If Horry gets 6 that moves him ahead IMO.
It seems more like you have an axe to grind over who isn't in the HOF...
Artis Gilmore deserves to be in the HOF...so does Nique...
I am sure there are others....but I'm just talking about Horry's credentials on a stand alone basis...he belongs there IMO.
