Did he just make the Hall of Fame?

I think he did.
Edited. If the Spurs win it all this year.
YES.
I haven't seen such a performance for a while.
The guy was Jordan-esque.
Unbelievable.
there was another thread that asked that... and i think so too. i dont think theres a guy who's ever come up big in playoff games like that who isnt in... no one. he needs to be in the HOF.
I would freakin' vote for him, if I had a vote.
How does he do that?
Probably Horry's best postseason performance. And that's saying a lot.
Robert came through like we hoped he would. And this was the best game of the series so far. This was exciting! Now to win on Tuesday!
Yeah, he should be in the HOF after he wins his 6th Championship.
Greatest roleplayer of all time, yeah, I think he should, but whether it happens or not, who knows?
Is his shoulder okay?
NBA record (or maybe it was NBA Finals ?) for most points in a game after being scoreless in the first half.
Now isn't the best time to ask.
First the Spurs have to win the series, which is still a lot of work left to do.
Then, look at his career stats, 26 mpg, 7.5 ppg, 5 rbg, 2.3 apg. I can't think of anyone else there with comparable numbers.
Michael Cooper, for one, has a bunch of rings and better stats and accolades (All-Defense, etc.) and isn't in the HoF.
KC Jones a career 8th man made it to the Hall, with the following stats.
9 season average
7.4 ppg, .387 FG%, .647 FT%, 3.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists
Horrys season averages are better let alone his playoffs. I think the case can be made for him to be there and also for him to be the best role player ever.
Did Jones make it as a player or a coach?
Maybe Getting closer but thank the heavens that I won't have to hear Mason anymore.![]()
Rings and MVPs are the top two methods for making the Hall...
The list of guys with 5 rings not in the Hall is a short one...Kerr and Salley won't make it...Sally will never make it...some people actually do think Kerr belongs since he's the greatest 3 PCT shooter in NBA history and he's got rings...but I don't think he'll make it.
And Kerr can't even come close to matching Horry's playoff game winners. I don't think anyone can...maybe Bird, Magic or Jordan and that's it.
If he gets 6th ring? I don't think there is anyone that has 6 rings that isn't the HOF(that's eligible)...
And there's one other thing too...
Horry owns a load of post season records..
Most consecutive threes...
Single game steals record in the Finals...
Most 3 pointers made in the finals...
I am pretty sure he set a couple of records tonight.
This guy belongs in the HOF.
I never thought Rob would ever top scoring the final 7 points of game 3 of the 2001 Finals to win the game, but he owned this game. What a performance!
K.C. Jones is a good retort, but even though I think he's a weak HoFer, even he has a few more credentials than Horry.
He made it in as a player, but remember the HoF doesn't distinguish between college and pro careers. In college he played on back-to-back NCAA Champs and the Olympic team. As a Celtic player, he won 8 rings. They didn't have All-Defensive teams when he played, but if they did, he would have made at least 4-5 of them.
Maybe you were joking, but he also wasn't a "career 8th man", he was the Celtics starting point guard after Cousy retired.
LMAO man this one was very similar to that one...he busted out with the same type of dunk...it's amazing how you think Horry's game is figured out and then he just does something you don't think he can do.
Poor Larry Brown, he was on the other end of that one as well.
This was his greatest finals performance though...period.
Robert Horry is an amazing player.
If he gets number 6, there is no question he is the most clutch, biggest game player in the history of the game.
IMO, he ranks up there with Jordan, Bird, Miller, others.
I can't think of anyone else in another sport like Rob. I mean, lot of role players have had a magical moment or two, a legendary game, etc... but Rob's done it so many times.
The definition of clutch:
Having your highest scoring game in 3 years....and all your points are scored after the 3rd quarter...of the swing game of the NBA finals...
21 ing points...34 years old.
There is no one more clutch than Robert Horry...
Did Jordan even put up that many in that amount of time once he hit his mid 30's? I don't think he did.
Sorry, but you're never going to convince me that Horry belongs in the HoF when guys like Michael Cooper and Paul Silas aren't.
Cooper and Silas nutrode great franchises...
Horry's done it with 2 different teams and counting...and his selection of clutch shots kicks the living out of theirs.
I don't know about Silas really anyway...
I don't think Cooper is a better player than Horry though.
