One thing I didn't understand about the "clear path" foul - when the refs were looking at the replay, they kept emphasizing "See, this is when he actually gets possession of the ball" as though you're supposed to wait for that and then see if there's a clear path.

That's utter bull shit. You're supposed to look at the instant the foul was committed.

The foul happened (ball was bobbling at the time), the Jazz player takes a long stride and then gains possession of the ball, and the refs act like that constitutes a clear path because no defender was ahead of him at the time he gained possession.
