Parker is finally going totally down into the paint and then giving it to Tim, but it's too damn late, I think.

Cliff-jumpers: WAKE UP. In the scheme of things this game means very little. If this happens 3 games in a row, then you can panic, but right now Pop is trying to find lineups that can beat the Fakers in the playoffs. He's failed in this game, doesn't mean he will in the next one.

This really shouldn't surprise anyone. With the playoffs getting closer and closer, this was to be expected. Bynum is simply too great, and too dominant for anyone on the Spurs to stop him.
GG.
I never even watch the Lakers in the regular season. If they got Bynum, Gasol and Kobe healthy in the playoffs I know they will be good.
Anyone that thought otherwise is a moron.
I've been calling for tall ball all season. If Pop thought Blair would get it done then he's a retard. This needed to happen in the regular season as the Spurs have other options this time.

I might say he is afraid Splitter wouldn't make a difference and if that happened, he and the fans would have no hope misguided or not
What? Nobody's saying Tiago's enough to make a difference by himself. The point is we want both Splitter and Duncan to play together against teams like the Lakers at the very least.

Parker and ginobili both just played flat out bad this game but in parkers case he is just missing the shots he normally makes but still even though he is agressive right now it a bit to late

Yep...Pop's love for Blair/Bonner is the only thing holding this team back from being a serious contender. We can always cross our fingers that someone else knocks the Lakers out for us but we ain't beating them in a playoff series.

The thing of it is, we're not even playing that bad defensively. The Lakers are making absolutely every outside shot. MWP is a fucking awful shooter and he couldn't miss.
I'm a lot more concerned about the offense. Everyone settling for jump shots and the ball movement was abysmal. At least with the bench unit it's a little better, but the loss is completely on Tim, Tony and Pop, for not getting his head out of his ass.
If he can't realize that Tiago plays at both ends better than Blair or Diaw, I don't know what to say. He's just a stubborn fucking old fool.
This tbh. And I was so confident that he'd learned from the Memphis series.

I am not sure Splitter more minutes would make a difference in a game like this, nights like tonight Bynum looks like the most dominant inside force in the league
Follow the logic->He sees himself as this force->Bean is on the pine->Bynum thinks he should be Option 1->Spurs meet LAL in playoffd->Pop decides to employ 2 tower theory->Bean decides that the ball should stop in his hands and is still the defacto option 1->Bynum sulks because of it->Spurs win the series.

The problem is not losing
The problem is the fact that we're getting destroyed at home after resting our 3 best players. SA simply suck at rebounding. We had the same problem against Chicago and now we have the same problem against the Lakers. And we're gonna have the same problem every time we face a big front-court.

He has a perfectly good big that he sits on the bench and plays limited minutes per game.
Yes he does, and I bet he'll bring him out to play 25mins+ in at least one of the next two games against the Fakers.
The next Lakers game is in the middle of a back to back to back and it's at staples center.
Pop will rest everyone for that game.
I don't like his coaching at all. These guys look like total shit off of that rest.
We have a deep, deep team. That's how you rest people by using your depth, not giving them the night off and telling everyone else to bust their ass only to watch those three guys play like dogs when they get back.
I want Stern to start fining teams for doing this.
I doubt Pop will rest the Big 3 for the Staples Centre game - if anything, he'll play them short minutes the night before and rest them the night after. He knows he has to hit on some rotations that thrive against the Fakers, and that's what he's trying to find right now.
That last bit is BS. It's called roster management. Teams should be able to play whoever they like any time they like to minimise risk and get the most out of their players as they see fit.
Blue Duck
04-11-2012, 09:24 PM
I don't understand pop's reluctance to try this. This is a lineup that is going to be needed at some point in the playoffs. On another note TP should have played in Utah. I understand resting players, just not all of the big3 at once. As we see nothing is guaranteed and "tanked" games come back to haunt you.

Everyone will point to the Lakers hitting a bunch of shots late in the game and say that there was no way to defend that but that will be bullshit. This game was lost when you gave up 19 god damn boards to Bynum in the first half and allowed the Lakers to build a lead even when shooting poorly. Then when they caught fire the game was put out of reach but the Spurs let it get to that point.

I said this earlier in the game thread - but the Lakers got really loose shooting the ball because every time they missed, they got about half of them back off the glass. They didn't have to worry about missing shots. And, yeah, being loose definitely helps em go in.
