Are the Brooklin Nets trying to jack the Spurs' swag with new color scheme?

I know the Spurs colors are "Silver & Black", but the jerseys and shorts have always been white and black. Miami is already copying the old school Spurs jerseys with the all blacks. What gives? Trend Setters?

Spurs have great uniforms, have a great fan-base, a model franchise and two of my favorite non-Lakers of recent years with Manu and TD. In fact, even Parker who I used to detest has grown on me. And of course Pop is the best active coach only thibbs is in the convo ...

The Nets are moving to Brooklyn for what? They're taking a terrible team to a different city, for what? All they're doing is shuffling chairs around on the Titanic. Putting lipstick on a pig. That is correct. Nets owner Mikhail Prokorov, and his competitive nature, is simply trying to hoarde into the market belonging to the NY Knicks. I'm sure he's trying to carve out his own niche in the premiere basketball market in the United States. However, it doesn't mean a hill of beans because this franchise is terrible.

Consider this: Last year, in a desparate move for credibility, the Nets mortgaged part of their future (Derrick Favors and a 1st round pick) in exchange fior Deron Williams. If Williams resigns with the Nets this summer, it's a good move. If he leaves, the Nets look very foolish.

Consider this: The Nets have deluded themselves into believing they have a chance at Dwight Howard. In order to get him, they will need to mortgage part of their future again (Brook Lopez, draft picks, etc.). If they get Howard and Williams resigns, it's a good move. If they fail to land Howard, Williams certainly will leave and the Nets again look foolish.

If Williams stays and Howard signs, they will have almost nothying to put around the pair and no draft picks to solidify their future. Make no mistake, this team is destined for years of futility - no matter what city they're playing in.

First, the Nets move to Brooklyn has absolutely nothing to do with winning basketball and everything to do with real estate. Bruce Ratner, the prior owner, had the twisted but cynical idea that to take over a prime piece of real estate in Brooklyn and make it into a huge real estate development he needed to be able to use eminent domain...and by buying the Nets and building a new arena (which obviously is more than an arena, it will have housing and business space) he could manipulate the courts to allow him to take over prime real estate in Brooklyn.

Ratner achieved that but lost some money along the way and because of the massive resistance to his actions, the time table became extended and he needed to bring in more money. That's where the Russian comes in...he's just another money guy, just like Ratner. This is a business deal that is manipulating the Nets to make it happen.

The Nets sucked before so they might actually improve from this new move, but that would be coincidence rather than intent.

So, I don't think the Russian guy has any specific interest in the team. Yeah, he wants high profile players to improve the team's worth, but he's busy with Russian politics. I never heard much of him during the lockout. My assumption was that he didn't really give a crap because it didn't affect his long-term plans.

Welcome to the new NBA where it's all about building new arenas no matter what.

This is all to say: thank God the Spurs actually are about basketball and the owner, for all his minor quibbles, is on board for delivering a winning product.

As Spurs fans, this is just another reason to say we have it good. :toast

About the team: The owner is a business man. A great businessman (he's a billionaire many times over) can own a business and hire the talent he needs to make it successful. He doesn't need to Mark Cuban it to death, though Mark has done a phenomenal job imo.
