Max Payne 3

So, I loved the first one, and the second one was ok. This one is not made by Remedy anymore, but was handed over to the same guys that did Red Dead Redemption. It even uses the same engine.

Anybody else looking forward to this one?

If Wikipedia is correct, Max Payne 3 is being done by the people who did Bully for the PS2 (Rockstar Vancouver). Rockstar San Diego (RDR people) aren't involved with this. Bully was a great game though but pretty amazing these dudes haven't done a game since then.

Never played any of the Max Paynes. RDR was amazing, GTA is damn fun although 4 got old fast, and La noire was a good game but I could never get into it.

The first one is badass, my favorite game of it's type for those consoles next to Manhunt (need a non-shitty sequal/remake to this too), but the second one was awful, Max didn't even look the same. Hope this one is better, but imo the game didn't really need sequels with the way the first one ended

I always thought I was the only one that didn't care for the second. The first was amazing, minus the dream levels.. It was one of the first great games for the xbox (ported from PC.. the PS2 version was shit).

I couldn't get into the Second because the story seemed complete to me after the first.. I had a hard time caring about the characters.. and as someone said it was way too arcadey.

I rarely finish games.. like maybe a dozen I have in my life and Max is one that I did.. The second I played for a couple hours and just never touched again.

So, Im interested, but it could go both ways for me.

But it isn't. Max Payne 1 had a compelling story, and was for the most part well done (perhaps the biggest drawback were the dream levels). MP 2 was closer to this.

Better to stay off live, especially if you run anything before release date.
That said, I've read people not really having a problem with it on Live. You just have to not give a shit if you end up getting banned.

And according to Professional Reviewers, the game is 98/100, which basically IS saying it's the best game ever. The majority of user reviews you pointed to ARE positive, but the general consensus is NOWHERE near 98/100. Saying it's a terrible game can't be any different from giving the game the highest score in history...

I dont see it as best game ever because honestly, its hard to determine that.

I see it as best game on the console up to that point and time. Honestly I think God of War 3 its the best game the PS3 has.

We have a different reading... I compared to what those guys had to say about the other games in the series (which, BTW, didn't get anywhere near as good paid reviews as GTA IV) and they didn't think it was THAT good at all either... at least nowhere near as good as the other ones.

Well, it wouldn't be 7.5 if it didn't have more positive reviews than negative. Otherwise it would've been rated < 5.0... That's simple math.

gta 4 was different but still fun. i guess gta 4 was mad men and san andreas was breaking bad. just more action. but that doesnt mean the previous wasnt good. i love that its in la again. they got the whole la thing perfect last time and they went all out with additions. they even almost added multiplayer but they ran out of time and disc space.

This game is really growing on me as I get into it. The first 10% or so is boring as fuck, but it gets way better once you start unlocking islands. The shows and activities are a nice addition, and the myspace is pretty funny.

GTA 4 was a freshly polished turd. The missions were terrible and the city was boring with the exception of the comedy club with Ricky Gervais. How do you go from Tommy Vercetti and Carl Johnson to faggot Niko also? Even Fido was a much better character. What the fuck are you going to preach for in a game based on stealing cars, robbing motherfuckers, and shooting random people on the street?

GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are still fun to play 7-12 years later, but even playing an hour of IV the first week after I bought the game was difficult. The gang wars in San Andreas are still some of the most fun ever put out in a game.

Looks awesome graphically, but then so did the last one. Since their track record in this series (not counting handhelds) is 3 incredible games vs 1 that completely sucked, maybe I have reason to hope this one will be a huge improvement.

It was fun most of the time, but allot of the missions feel the same as all other GTA games just in a new city and it got kind of tiring towards then end. I just wanted it to be over.


After a couple of weeks of playing this, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. IGN is full of shit giving this a perfect score when lower rated games such as Bioshock and COD4 are far superior.

This game just doesn't have the great characters and voice acting that Vice City and San Andreas had. The soundtrack is far weaker than either of those, also. It gets repetitive way faster than Vice City or San Andreas did, and the city is nowhere near as interesting as Vice City or Los Santos/San Fierro/Las Venturas. This is the most overhyped game I have ever seen.


I couldn't agree more, that really sums it up for me...


All in all, if you've played GTA before, it doesn't feel as fresh as it once did.

GTA 3 was my fave, even though I never really played it. The soundtracks were the best part, especially including Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires in nearly its entirety on K-Jah. Of course them finding out Scientist never received any benefit and Rockstar paying him out of pocket when they found out Greensleeves never paid him royalties made it even better.

Yeah overall, it was a good game imo. And I thought the driving was fun as hell because it was realistic and when you pulle a drift, it felt rewarding. Sure I miss the cartoon driving of VC and SA but the driving in 4 was good as well, just in a different way.

They really need to add back planes/tanks/vortex/bicycle etc. hope 5 is like SA in terms of customization(tats, hair, clothes, car mods) and stupid fun.
