U-G-L-Y. Hopefully Spurs got bad shooting game out of their system. Ball movement, ball handling, spacing were all poor. Maybe they were just bored or uninspired. It looked like Jazz figured out how to guard them pretty well.

Yeah normally they at least give you the ball if not the foul there...

Honestly I think we could have let Jackson run with the bottom 4 from our bench and done fine. Seriously, throw Mills in there with the burst of quickness and the Jizz wouldn't have known what hit them

But then we would have played 12 players, and Pop is far to smart to do that. :rollin

A Danny Green/Gary Neal pick-and-roll-led 2nd unit squanders a 21 point lead with 5 minutes to go. Manu gets a great look at a wide open 3 but just misses. Tony gets a great look near the rim but just misses a layup. Good execution (just missed some shots). Still end up winning comfortably. Prime bait for NASF/GNSF disappointment.

Can we give TDMVPDPOY's bold to TheSkeptic :lol? Skeptic brings mature, BNSF-type takes consistently. TDMVPDPOY calls TP a "fkn scrub" on his first off shooting night :lol

I mean seriously, your entire thesis essentially is "If Tony Parker's not scoring, then clearly he failed to adjust to the opposing team defense."

Parker had a lot of great looks that didn't fall. He pulled up for his mid-range jumper when appropriate (mostly. Off hand I remember a semi-contested pull up jumper by Tony when he probably could've passed to Stephen Jackson). He attacked the rim when appropriate. I remember at least 5 or 6 buckets that usually fall for him (2-3 mid-range jumpers, 1-2 floaters, and a late game layup that he just barely missed).

Bottom line is Tony didn't fail to adjust to anything. He missed good looks. The execution was there, though.

tp had 16 points last 4 quarter
had a pretty good game
tonight he struggled
but I almost but he was not very motivated tonight
the other team player said white flag!

so whats his excuse for allowing the scrub harris turning back the clock on him for the first 3 qaurters b4 going cold in game 3?

whether it was motivation or not, we cant afford to him have playin like shit like tonight game 4 with 11 pts, there will be nights the bench wont be bailin his or starters ass....

devin harris is a piece of shit who only turns up to play against the spurs instead of the other +20 teams in the league for some odd reason, whats his fkn beef

I know it's easy to lose focus when you're up by 21 points in the 4th and the series is pretty much in the bag and you're just trying to run the clock and not get hurt, but damn...they almost let that one get away.

Spurs should've won this game by 20-25 points. At least the close finish will keep them from coming out too cocky against the Clips or Grizz and getting their shit pushed in.

manu is the one that can not make an outside shot
0-9 from downtown

yes manu has been shit all season even with injuries, he wont get a pass from my bashin when we lose, yes we all waiting for him to hit his strides

even without hittin anything, at least he provides other things on the court the bench lacked which is handling the ball etc that guys like neal and green lacks...but that is slowly decreasing with the bench growing in confidence when his not needed....

tonight he was shooting well when the team blew a 11pt lead down to single digits only for him to shoot b2b 3s and blowing out the lead again....the change in momentum right there sealed the deal that the jazz couldnt hang with the bench....

When Neal hit that cold-blooded 3 to make it 81-60 with 6:16 left, I was thinking "game over". Then the Spurs went almost SIX MINUTES without scoring a FG. I know the refs were letting Utah totally mug them without calling it, but still...the Spurs should have at least put up a few token buckets. TP missing both FTs and then having the soft bunny bounce over the hole and off the other side was a little terrifying. That shit better never happen again, or it's a Spurs loss.

blowing loads has always been on the spurs radar, or else our team record would be higher then 50-16....

this team does alot of stupid shit when we have leads and cant hold onto it, whether its chuckers looking for their own stats or players continuing with the same move all over again when its been disrupted many times....

Isn't anyone going to give Stephen Jackson some love? Because I think there was a good possibility that the Spurs lose this one, or at least go to OT, if not for that steal he made happen with 24 seconds left. The lead was down to 4 points, the Jazz had the ball. They had been scoring almost at will, and the Spurs' offense couldn't make a shot if their lives depended on it.

Tony caught the ball and hit Manu for the uncontested basket. But it was Jackson who knocked the ball loose. If not for that, the Jazz very likely would have gotten it down to a 2 point game, with plenty of time left.

I know you can't really credit a win to one play, any more than you can blame a loss on one missed shot. But you can sure as hell say that Jackson sealed the win with that one play. He deserves some props for it.

no need to cause we know what jax brings to the table with his size and skillset, he basically shut down millsap all series or whoever he was defending...i dont think jax has any problems guarding undersized bigs, all he needs is hustle on the lowblock get them out of their comfort zone positioning and the pesty reach ins for steals....love how he puts the other spurs players in their place when they blow a defensive rotation...

Here's the thing. Manu got out of his funk, Bonner hasn't done any disappearing, Splitter's healthy, TD looks good, Blair hasn't done anything stupid, and the Pop we know and love is back. TP has been one of our most consistent players this past little while so it's ok for him to play badly once in a while. The starters aren't always going to be that bad and Pop has shown a willingness to let Splitter/TD do the heavy lifting when needed.

The Spurs can't afford to choke like they did this game. The starters will definitely have to play better. Even so, the bench salvaged the game for us and the starters were able to hold on. Pop won't even have to tell the veterans that they played badly and the team has a solid week to rest. It doesn't feel good to nearly lose like that but I'm sure the Spurs will be extra careful to avoid getting complacent in the second round.

One thing the Spurs are going to have to figure out in the next week is what to do about bringing up the ball when TP is resting. You could argue Neal should never be out there alone without Manu, but if I'm an opposing coach I put pressure on Neal every time Tony is on the bench and he is responsible for getting the Spurs into offensive sets. Apparently Mills isn't an option, but this is the only glaring weakness coming out of the series.

SALT LAKE CITY — Coaches torture themselves over success, and Gregg Popovich has been lately. He’s been wondering out loud among his staff that, well, wouldn’t it be better to lose a game?

“That’s why,” one of his assistants kidded him, “you are coach of the year.”

Manu failed to get the ball over the half court line in 8 seconds?

Replay shows that the clock started early. Manu got the inbounds pass with 21 seconds to go. I know it doesn't matter now, but FYI.

2. Basically fart around for about 6 minutes.
3. Win anyway.

Corbin said it was his decision not to play Raja Bell during playoffs and "on him."

Corbin said he's open to having Jerry Sloan help team out during future in any way he wants. Great to have Sloan back at ESA.

Raja Bell said during playoffs, referees and #Spurs coaches/players asked why he wasn't playing. They never understood what Jazz were doing.

Thing I least like about the likable Spurs: Stephen Jackson and Boris Diaw being rewarded for quitting on previous coaches, teammates.

-

Diaw never quit, his coach in Charlotte wanted him to be a 20 ppg player, never been that type of player, and benched him for not shooting enough.

Obstructed_View
05-08-2012, 05:48 PM
Charlotte wanted Diaw to be able to shoot 50 percent like he did when he was with Phoenix, but they wanted him to do it as the first option surrounded by D League talent. He actually improved on the previous year's numbers. Not sure where the quit is in that, as Charlotte are the ones that decided to start hoarding ping pong balls.

Skiles suddenly started benching Jack in Milwaukee. There's zero evidence that Jack ever quit on anyone. Brandon Jennings will probably leave because he didn't agree with the decision not to let Jack into the games when they were struggling. I still have no fucking clue why the Warriors fans booed Jack, but it can't possibly have anything to do with this season unless they really hate RJ as much as San Antonio does.
