View Full Version : 40-16 Not even worried

When Stephen Jackson lost ball in a turnover and Nick Young made a 25-foot three point jumper for a 40-16 lead, and Bonner answered with his own 3 pointer, I felt calm and relaxed. I just knew this team would not lose today, I felt an almost zen like calmness, because I have a great confidence in the Spurs to win in a sweep.

This Spurs team is the most confident, well coached Spurs team in their history. I used to panic during games. just expecting some bad result when the Spurs got off to poor starts, and they used to have some stinkers even in their championship years. This team just will not allow themselves to lose.

slow start even with good open looks, we didnt make the shots in the first quarter

didnt help when it loook like the fix was in to get the clippers the win, with green in early foul trouble...took away our aggressiveness on defense....

probably the most epic part was right before the 3rd quarter started Tim, Pop and Tony where just chillin on the bench joking with eachother without a care in the world.

Their confidence is in another stratosphere.

I had to go pick up a friend from the airport at 3:30 and the Spurs were down 24 when I left the house. I put it on pause so I could watch them come back and win. In the past I'd have been too nervous to watch the game. I watched every second of it. This team is special, and that run in the third was legendary*.

*Legendary comebacks are only remembered in title seasons.

Exactly the same way I felt. I didn't watch much of the Suns sweep a few years ago because I just didn't have any belief in the team. I thought I was getting old.

The best part about this game was my friend coming over to gloat!!!

I open the door for him and he's laughing his ass off! I told you the old ass Spurs were gonna lose today!! Then he looks at the TV screen and we're up by eight and he goes, WTF!!! Today was priceless!! Someone has to make a name for this game, like the Memorial Day Miracle!!!!

I was confident the Spurs were going to comeback. The Clippers played out of their mind in the first quarter and couldn't sustain the defensive intensity. Plus the Spurs missed alot of easy shots and hadn't played that well.

same here, jim. I kept saying "just weather the storm, they can't keep this up." Never doubted they'd retake the lead at some point, just thought it wouldn't be until the 4th quarter. I laughed at Magic saying the Spurs "can't come all the way back."

I trully wasn't. I don't know if it was because I knew we would come back and win this one or 'cause I knew that no matter the outcome of this game we would win the series anyways, but I wasn't worried at all.

I was surprisingly okay with it. I had a feeling after it was 40-16 that was kind of like "Okay...no big deal. Tons of time left."

I had that attitude that most people have when they know something is going to happen and nobody believes them. That "Just wait" with the smile on your face attitude.

I was worried for the bench and the youngsters in the team.. I knew the Spurs would come back, but they needed help from them.

I was worried about a loss.. but honestly..

The Clippers played out of their minds in the first quarter and the Spurs did EVERYTHING wrong... it was only a matter of time.

seriously, I was playing Diablo 3 with my alarm clock radio on 1200 WOAI. I walked into the living room at the end of the first quarter while grabbing a drink and told my roommate "Ehh, its only 1 quarter, Im not worried." Went back to my room and proceeded to play D3 while listening to the game....

wasnt worried at all.

I was watching the Chelsea/BM game and flipped it over and it was 40-20 and I said to my step brothers wife, we will come back in the 4th and watch it when the Spurs have closed the gap. Well flipped ESPN.COM open and saw down by 10 at half and I knew what would happen. Then looked again later and up by 12 in 3rd. Told her score and she laughed. I am really not even into the Clippers series because one, I hate Blake and two, I know it was going to be a walk. Been watching my Kings take care of business against Phoenix more. Now that is exciting!

I felt the same as the OP. In past years I would've been cursing up a storm during that 1st quarter. Instead, I shook my head at the easy shots we were missing and the bullshit shots they were hitting, took a deep breath and just thought, "relax. There's 3 quarters left...we got this shit." Little did I know that they wouldn't even need the whole game to catch back up!
