At least 37 people were killed in Baghdad alone. Many of them died when a U.S. helicopter fired on a disabled U.S. Bradley fighting vehicle as Iraqis swarmed around it, cheering, throwing stones and waving the black and yellow sunburst banner of Iraq's most-feared terror organization.

It's unfortunate that the reporter got killed, I'm sorry for that.
But I think it's hilarious that some Apache pilot saw all those Iraqis there waving the terrorist flag and realized "I can wipe out a bunch of those little bastards with one shot."

Good stuff!

So, let me get this straight. The Bradley was disabled by a car bomb, no one was killed, and the wounded were no where near the truck, and we are now in the business of killing folks to defend an empty, burning fighting vehicle? Lost a few hearts and minds today, boys and girls...

Fearing the crowd would loot the vehicle of weapons and ammunition, American soldiers called for air support, and as U.S. Army helicopters flew over the burning Bradley ``they received small-arms fire from the insurgents in vicinity of the vehicle,'' a military statement said.

Most of the young Iraqi men and boys mingling around the burning wreckage of a US armoured car in Baghdad were unfazed by the clattering of an American helicopter gunship overhead. Moments later they were under fire.

Wait a minute, If the wreckage was already burning how could Iraqis loot the vehicle? Seems to me that some hot-shot pilot didn't like to see Iraqis dancing around a disabled U.S. humvee and decided to fire into a crowd.

Exstatic and NBADan, you've got it all wrong. This is a great victory for the US. Firing into crowds of Iraqis will make them love us. Democracy and flowers are just around the corner. The US will be withdrawn by the end of the month for sure.

No...you've got it all wrong! How would you feel if thugs just robbed, wounded, or killed your mother and father and set their house on fire only to have some more sympathizers stand outside cheering them on? This can be spun in either direction. Get off your soapbox!

I feel bad, and I sincerely grieve, for the children who were drug out their by their parents or who were allowed to roam the mean streets unsupervised or who have been deluded into joining a terrorist organizations.

But, the rest of them? Terrorists and reporters gather and celebrate (or report on) U.S. failures at their own risk.

Good job! Kudoes to the helicopter pilot for seiziing an opportunity and thinning the ranks of the terrorists just a little more.

Anyone who trots out a terrorist flag and dances around the burning hulks of American military vehicles deserves one between the eyes.

It blows my mind that some of you want our military to treat these assholes with kid gloves when they're being shot at and blown up in kind.

Typical libs.

A Bradley fighting vehicle rushing down Haifa Street, a major traffic artery near the Green Zone, to assist a U.S. patrol was disabled by a car bomb about 6:50 a.m., the U.S. military said. Two Bradley crewmen were wounded by the bomb and four were injured by grenades and small-arms fire as they fled the vehicle, the military said.

Sorry I forgot that part.

So, they blew up our Bradley with a car bomb, shot and threw grenades at or men while they were trying to flee the burning vehicle...and you're feeling sorry for the fucking terrorists that did it?

Life was so much simpler when Saddam was oppressing those people.

Depends on who was in the crowd and the rules of engagement. I'm sure it's being reviewed.

...and you're feeling sorry for the fucking terrorists that did it?

Do we know, FOR SURE, that the folks around the vehicle by the time that Air Cav got there were the same ones who attacked it? A car bomb could have been left there DAYS ago. ****, why not just shoot EVERYONE!!!!! Goddamn, you folks fucking scare me sometimes...this isn't bodies being dragged through the streets. There was a burning vehicle with no US occupants, and some idiots mugging for the cameras. Apparently that's a capital offense. Three cheers for freedom in Iraq.

Reports say they were carrying a flag adopted by the terrorist organization claiming responsibility.

And, yeah, like has been said, don't hang around burning or disabled U.S. military vehicles...we render them unusable at the earliest opportunity.

This is the article I was refering to where NbaDan and Exstatic viciously defended the insurgents. Do any other Americans see a problem with this?:next3

What? Spurster gets no love from you, Hook?

I take it as a complement to be castigated by such a simple minded fool as your self, who believes everything he's told, Hook.

I think they did an honorable job under the circumstances.
