For players to be out the night before a game seven drinking till 1:20am? I just had to kick Rasheed Wallace out of the bar I work at. I found that very interesting. After all the talk that has been done about how much more focused and business like the Pistons are this guy is out tanking it up till nearly 130am.

They also had a small celebration this afternoon as a prequal to them winning the championship. I was stunned that even took place.

Are you making this up? If so, not cool at all. If not, what bar and why did you kick him out at 1:20?

texbumTHElife
06-23-2005, 02:40 AM
I am most certainly not making this up. I work at Steinheimers bar in the Westin La Cantera where all the Pistons players are staying.

Make sure you let me know if you decide to use this in any radio or anything cause I will need to cover my ass LOL.

I doubt this is true, but if it is maybe it's for good luck. The night before game 7 against the Heat the guys were out in Miami living it up.

Son, Rasheed Wallace was wearing a green and black t-shirt and drinking jack, watermelon pucker and gingerale mixed together. He was there with a couple trainers and staffers from the Pistons as well as some Spurs staff.

Our bar is a hotel bar. It is only open till 2 on Friday and Saturday.

In fact, last night the Pistons called the hotel as they left the SBC center and had the Hotel keep the bar open til 2am. Ben Wallace was in the bar that night and was apparently a very cool and friendly guy.

You think he'd be better off shitting his pants at the free-throw line ala Tim Duncan?? Or how about tony parker looking like a scared little boy in his pre-game interview today (technically yesterday). Not to sound like a jerk, but him being unphased by the pressure is a GOOD thing.

Well since you guys enjoyed this I have another little snipit for you.

Today Antonio McDeyess was sittign by the pool today sipping drinks. A fan walks up to him on her own and says, "You look like a basketball player. Are you?"

Dice answeres, "Yeah."

Fan asks, "can I have your autograph?"

Dice, "Where are you from?"

Fan, "Texas."

Dice, "Where in Texas?"

Fan, "Austin."

Dice, "Well since your not from San Antonio i guess so."

The fan in this story was a 7 year old girl who went up to him completely on her own because she was so impressed with him.

Take this story however you want. He did turn down a little boy earlier in the day who said he was from San Antonio also. Rasheed Wallace also refused to have his picture taken with a couple little kids in the lobby.

ok, now i definately don't believe you. Dice wouldn't turn someone down just because they said they were from san antonio. There is a reason the news writers around detroit call him "McNice". I could see Sheed maybe not wanting to take pictures if he was on his way somewhere because he gets it all the time. But, Dice not signing something just because a person is from San An? It's possible he said it jokingly to the girl, but you're just trying to spread bad rumors with this stuff.

I find it pathetic that people are buying into this. Why would the Pistons be hanging out with SA staff?! Why and how would they be in a bar with underage girls at 1:20 am? Why would Dice refuse to give an autograph to a little boy? Dice is the most fan-friendly person on the Pistons (well, at least him and Rip are).

I'm shocked that so many people are buying into this. Yeah, they could have been at a bar or something, but all the other stuff? Come on.

Dice is one of the nicest, most unassuming guys in all of sports, I find this really hard to believe.

Having said that I'm not sure how this has a hill of beans to do with game 7. NBA players are like rock stars, nothing any of them do is going to surprise me a whole lot. There are players that won't ever sign anything for anybody if they're out in public.

Lots of professional ballers drink before games. One of my great friends in Brazil is the reigning league MVP and is playing Game 3 of the national championship series at home this Friday. Still, he'll be at my house for at least the first half of tonight's game 7 and will no doubt slam at least four or five beers. And he'll get a triple double tomorrow night. Btw, Manu's old team Kinder Bologna is interested in signing him (Valtinho).

Why do people (more specifically FANS) care so much what the players are doing on their own time??

Ever had a drink or two after the work day, during the work week? Ever had a beer at lunch before going back to work? Ever go out to the bar on a Tuesday or Wednesday night?

Jeeesh, does Rasheed having a few drinks the night before game 7 really gets you hyped that much more??? Should he really be hiding in his hotel room, nervously thinking about the game and phased by the big moment?

Being in the service industry for the last ten years, I believe texbum. I don't have too much experience dealing with basketball players, but baseball and hockey players used to stay until last call all the time, even with a somewhat early game the next day. Granted, I've never seen a pro athlete in my bar during their league's championship, but I can't say I'm surprised.

If Sheed had four or five drinks 18 hours before game time like what was stated, I'm pretty sure his activities from the night before aren't going to hinder him.
