The thing that has me worried is the Thunder making a legendary closing push in the fourth quarter. They've been doing it too much in these playoffs for it to be a fluke.
But hopefully the Spurs will use the crowd's energy to be hitting on all cylinders. And hopefully the Thunder's bigs don't hit 20 of their final 21 shots :lol :cry :lol

I am worried. Every game something happens which is not normally the case ... Fisher hitting many shots ... Spurs turning the ball over 20+ times ... huge offensive rebounding for OKC ... Tony and Manu having a sub-par game together ... Ibaka hitting 11/11 FGs .. and so on.
We always say this and that is not gonna happen again. This might be true, but I got the feeling then just another thing will occur which nobody believed could happen. Hopefully e.g. it will not be a total dry spell of the Spurs offense.
So, lets see if home court is the advantage in this series and kick some Thunder butt ...

Hollinger thinks Pop will move Manu to the starting lineup. This would in theory move Thabo onto Manu and RW back onto Parker. And then Green would defend Harden. This sounds great, but....would this make our 2nd quarter woes even more pitiful?...or does Pop just shorten the rotation now and Neal with it, so to speak?
Go Spurs. I hope our "others" play as well as theirs did in OKC. I'll looking for the combo of Blair, Bonner, and Splitter to go 22 of 25.

As if Ginobili can't start and play with the second unit . . . he's only done that virtually every time he's been a starter in his career. And Garnett's been doing that the entire second half of the season for the Celtics. All that is required is for Ginobili to be subbed out at about the 5 minute mark, then return around the 2nd or 1st minute mark, then come back out again sometime around the middle of the 2nd quarter -- like at the 7 minute mark, then return at the 5 or 4 minute mark. Problem solved.

We'll see. Manu should be able to handle the increased minutes but he hasn't really played over 30 mins that much this year. Not to mention Pop probably wants to save him for what most likely will be a close 4th quarter. Your idea makes sense on paper though.
In regards to KG, I don't see that having any bearing on what Pop decides or Manu's ability to play extended minutes.

Damn Right.
Jax is absolutely right, they haven't played like a team fighting in the WCF and potentially the finals during the past 2 games. They need to man up and play with some balls and stay focused for every second of the game, cannot slip up and lose your man for a second. Gotta be aware of everything going on.

We can't have more shitty games from the big 3. They need to play like they know how every game. In games 3 and 4, the Spurs got 4-5 subpar-to-shitty performances (1 per player per game) from the big 3, and that simply can't happen. Manu and Parker need to step up, without both of them having solid games I do not see the Spurs winning. They know this, I think they'll be up for the challenge.

Damn, I'm so bloody nervous my stomach hurts!
You guys are right - we've been too nice the past two games, time to unleash some animal and take it at these young bucks rather than letting them dictate everything. We especially need Tony to get his frown on, Manu to let it roar, and Tim to get quietly furious like the 3rd Q of game 7 2005 when he carried us through the doldrums and out the other side.

In regards to KG, I don't see that having any bearing on what Pop decides or Manu's ability to play extended minutes.
He'll live if he has to average about 35 mpg in the last 2-3 games. If he can't handle that though, then the Spurs have little to no chance. Pop is an idiot when it comes to being overly cautious with him, so whether he "saves him for what most likely will be a close 4th quarter" or not, I'm sure they'll come a stretch of about 3 minutes in the fourth, when the game is in the balance, that Ginobili is sitting. He'll chance the entire season and probably their last real chance at a championship, just to buy Ginobili a reasonably extensive secondary break. Meanwhile, he'll have no problem running Parker and Duncan into the ground.
Obviously, Garnett has no bearing on what Pop decides to do with Ginobili, it was just an example.

I think Manu starting is fine.
They won't put him there for 8 straight minutes in the 1st Q.
He will be there for the big opening punch in the mouth to OKC, and then take his seat after a while.
Just to keep the team from potentially lagging behind by 10 points again before the quarter closes.

It's overblown to say Manu starting will hurt the bench. Doesn't anyone ever remember him starting a game before? He still plays half of his minutes, if not more, with the bench.
He's the first starter off the floor, around the 6 min mark, and back on the floor to play with the bench guys around the 2 min mark.
Don't be surprised if the guy he checks back in for is Tony.

I don't know if I like the move with Manu starting.

It's a good move. Starting Manu gets him to play the SG position without having to worry about ball handling and creating from the first minute he is out there. Less chance of turnovers.
Also, Manu playing only 20-25 minutes a game is a joke. Instead of 10-15 minutes of suckage from Danny, Manu should get those extra 10 minutes and it can get him into a better rhythm from the get go.
I believe in Danny, and I think he will be OK off of the bench. Bottom line is though that Manu should be getting more minutes instead of splitting them with Danny.
BatManu20

My first instinct was that I don't like what that will do to Green's confidence but to be honest he hasn't looked good for most of this series. I don't think there's much damage to do. It will force OKC to play the matchup game, reassign Thabo and let Parker get off to a better start.

This "Green will lose confidence" is kinda BS, I feel.
He doesn't seem to be that type of personality.
He's calm, mature and he plays within the system, with no complaints.
He's not like those bratty primadonna crybabies who gets insulted by not starting.
He's struggling offensively, so he knows what's best for the team at this time.
Not starting him won't destroy his confidence at all.

Manu starting is a good move. And I prefer Diaw to keep starting as he's a superior defender to Grizz, and Grizz should have a better chance to make an impact against the secondary OKC bigs who are undersized like him (Collison) or poor defensively (Nazr).
