View Full Version : Start Stephen Jackson

Marcus Bryant

He'd play all 48 if given the opportunity. At this point you want players who want to compete and win. Manu goes back to his 6th man role.

Shorten the rest of the rotation and keep Bonner off the court.

But then the bench has no one to guard Durant

Jack can't play whole game, he'll foul out

Play Jack until he fouls out. Keep game within striking distance then allow only Manu to shoot in the fourth.

Starting Manu is retarded. You have to keep two of the big 3 on the court at all times. Pop ended up with that shit lineup due to that.

I agree 100%

BTW, have you noticed your namesake is an asst. coach sitting behind the OKC bench?

No Pop ended up with the shit lineup because he insists on resting his players. This is a do or die game of the WCF's. Play them heavy minutes.

How do you pretend to play Manu 35 minutes (which is what Pop should do) while having him in the bench for the first half of the 1st and 3rd quarter?

That's 12 minutes right there. Do you expect him to play 35 of the remaining 36 minutes without a breather?

I don't think there's a single game in these playoffs where two of the big 3 were on the court at all times.

Seriously people, give it a little more thought. Are you really suggesting that one of the few players that haven't played like shit gets benched/his minutes reduced? It just doesn't make sense.

Tbh, this game is such an unlikely one to win that I'm rolling with the best.

No matter what, the only swingmen that play should be Jackson / Ginobili / Leonard. 96 minutes there, I'm going with 28 for Manu, 36 for Jackson and 32 for Leonard. Manu can take the backup PG minutes, which should be a maximum of 8.

Mugen
06-05-2012, 12:39 AM
No. Keep the same starting lineup from Game 5.

Neal/Jax/Tiago off the bench. Limited mins. for Gary and Splitter.

TP/Manu/Tim all need to play 36-42 minutes. Jack too probably.

Marcus Bryant

Manu doesnt care if he starts or comes off the bench. Seriously. Spurs need him coming off the bench.

MB is correct here. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but that's why with injuries and such you see most coaches seemingly go with someone like Jax instead of Manu because it minimizes the changes to everything or multiple guys vs just one guy.

I was cool with Manu coming off the bench while we were winning but now I don't think that's the way to go.

Spurs don't need him to come off the bench. They need him to play as many minutes as possible without getting too gassed. Having him on the bench for the first 6 minutes of the 1st and 3rd when he is fresh isn't the way to do that.

Pop has to always have a fresh Jax or Kawhi on Durant. I think he needs to consider even using Danny Green to keep the guys fresh.

This.

The reason to play limited minutes all the year is TO PLAY HIM NOW.

He was the best player at least in game 1 and game 5.Watching how TP dissappears it seems Manu still being the go to guy when it counts.

benching Kwahi might be a good idea for now. He's been playing great, but we need more offensively, and Kwahi's hasn't been confident in his 3 pnt shot as of recent, doing a lot of pump fake and drive.

Might be a good idea the key the game will be to have a lead at the half. I think the best shot will be starting sjax he's got the toughness.

But, I'd try anything now to get Tim one more ring.

Jax and Manu should eat Neal's and Green's minutes completely. Just by starting Jax and if those before mentioned don't see the court, Manu should play 35 off the bench.

Start: Tony-Manu-Jack-Diaw-Tim
6mins: Neal or Green for Manu
10mins: Manu for Tony- Leonard for Jackson- Tiago for Duncan

2nd Qtr: start with the Line-up that ended the 1st: Manu-Neal/Green-Leonard-Diaw-Tiago
3 mins: Tony for Manu- Jackson for Leonard (or Neal/Green)- Duncan for Diaw
6mins: Manu for Neal/Green (or Leonard).
7mins: Diaw for Tiago.

Repeat the pattern on the second half.

Diaw: 40 minutes
Tony, Tim and Jackson: 38 minutes
Manu: 34 minutes
Neal/Green: 18/24 minutes
Tiago: 18 minutes
Leonard: 10/16 minutes

Of course this is expecting everybody to play as expected. If, for example, Leonard is playing better than Jack, KL should be the one getting more minutes.

I've come around on this idea

Its risky in terms of foul trouble, but manu off the bench gives that second unit more punch

And Jackson wants to play

Problem still is can heplay a full game? The intense ball Jackson had played recently, I've seen him gassed after 28 minutes or so

I don't know of he can sustain great play for a ton of minutes.

We've got to keep someone who's fresh on Durant to wear him down. That's why I'm frustrated with Pop unwilling to use Danny Green on him.
