He'd play all 48 if given the opportunity. At this point you want players who want to compete and win. Manu goes back to his 6th man role.

Shorten the rest of the rotation and keep Bonner off the court.

But then the bench has no one to guard Durant

Jack can't play whole game, he'll foul out

Tbh, it would have made more sense than starting Manu.

Kawhi can play 43 minutes like Durant.

Play Jack until he fouls out. Keep game within striking distance then allow only Manu to shoot in the fourth.

Benching Manu at this point is re ed. I may consider starting Jackson over Leonard though.

Starting Manu is re ed. You have to keep two of the big 3 on the court at all times. Pop ended up with that lineup due to that.

    I agree 100%

BTW, have you noticed your namesake is an asst. coach sitting behind the OKC bench?

No Pop ended up with the lineup because he insists on resting his players. This is a do or die game of the WCF's. Play them heavy minutes.

How do you pretend to play Manu 35 minutes (which is what Pop should do) while having him in the bench for the first half of the 1st and 3rd quarter?

That's 12 minutes right there. Do you expect him to play 35 of the remaining 36 minutes without a breather?

I don't think there's a single game in these playoffs where two of the big 3 were on the court at all times.

Seriously people, give it a little more thought. Are you really suggesting that one of the few players that haven't played like gets benched/his minutes reduced? It just doesn't make sense.

Tbh, this game is such an unlikely one to win that I'm rolling with the best.

No matter what, the only swingmen that play should be Jackson / Ginobili / Leonard. 96 minutes there, I'm going with 28 for Manu, 36 for Jackson and 32 for Leonard. Manu can take the backup PG minutes, which should be a maximum of 8.

No. Keep the same starting lineup from Game 5.

Neal/Jax/Tiago off the bench. Limited mins. for Gary and Splitter.

TP/Manu/Tim all need to play 36-42 minutes. Jack too probably.

Manu doesnt care if he starts or comes off the bench. Seriously. Spurs need him coming off the bench.

MB is correct here. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but that's why with injuries and such you see most coaches seemingly go with someone like Jax instead of Manu because it minimizes the changes to everything or multiple guys vs just one guy.

I was cool with Manu coming off the bench while we were winning but now I don't think that's the way to go.

Spurs don't need him to come off the bench. They need him to play as many minutes as possible without getting too gassed. Having him on the bench for the first 6 minutes of the 1st and 3rd when he is fresh isn't the way to do that.

Pop said in the presser that Manu starting had to do with giving him more minutes... I just never understood why can't you adjust your rotations so he still plays 35 mins even if he comes off the bench...
