And the first time he faced adversity/deficit this year (Minnesota), he became the Alex Smith we all know and love
So you really put that much into an early season road game?

Put 1/13 on the Packers and they are 0-5, EASILY.

You really don't know the NFL do you?

I can only think of one game where 1/13 didn't become useless when faced with a 2+ possession deficit, and that was at Philly where the Eagles kicker had 3 meltdowns and Frank Gore brought the niners back.

Do you really believe that?
Has the guy not been playing better than ever for awhile now? Hell what's the great Aaron Rodgers doing? The great Drew Brees..1-4. The guy is doing just fine.
Yes, no question he's playing better...but he still hasn't shown that he can put the team on his back and come from behind...Do you disagree?

Other than the Saints game last year...but that was an anomaly....Prove otherwise

Weren't they behind vs the Saints? Not that I like to use 2011 as some barometer.
The guy is mobile, can actually run, doesn't turn it over. I don't see any reason to think he can't do this or that. A couple fumbled kicks from being a SB Qb.

He had it easy in that game. Saints were blitzing leaving guys man-to-man. Basically 7 on 7 drills.

tbh, i'm just happy he's playing in the same system for the first time and growing in it. watching Peyton today, it still bothers me he went to denver instead. He's starting to play like one of the greatest again, and with this defense and special teams....shittttt.
but gotta roll with Smith. i understand you worries symple, we just gotta hope he does a good job managing games and getting better.

Gregg Williams blitzing with 40 secs left was the most embarrassing playcall i've ever seen.

I think he did it on purpose. He possibly couldn't be that stupid. There's a reason he ratted out Vilma and the rest of the defense.

This is a rational take....I absolutely hope he can get it done, but there just isn't any evidence that he can make the leap to the next level... You have NO IDEA how bad I want to be wrong about this. But when you watch Steve and Joe, or Peyton, Brady, Big Ben, and Eli, there just isn't any comparison...Alex is blessed with one of the best defense's in NFL history and has really only shown that he can steward a team that is in front. If that defense fails.....

He did come back in the biggest game of his career up to that point, to belittle it...???
He'll do just fine, no worries.

I hope you're right, but the evidence doesn't support your claim. The guy is a proven frontrunner, but being a frontrunner doesn't win SB's

He's 18-4 since Harbaugh arrived, no need to look for things to criticize/worry about. Smith fiinally has everything he needs to succeed don't get too caught up in pre Harbaugh.
