It's not about giving up, it's about the content, we can win vs scrubs team playing bad games, doesn't bode well for the PO.

First half content in a December game? :rolleyes

I'm actually pretty pleased overall, tbh.

We've missed a bunch of point blank shots that were great looks. We've had a couple go in and out. Non-issue, tbh.

I mean we can certainly do better, but Utah is in over its head come 2nd half, tbh.

Keep Blair on the bench and we got this.

jestersmash
12-12-2012, 11:42 PM
I hope Pop doesn't give Blair any minutes in the 2nd half, though. He hasn't earned a single second.

Boris had wide, wide open looks (albeit from 3) that didn't go. Nando had a couple of great looks from 3 that didn't go. Green had a layup bounce in and out of the rim.

And our defense is actually passable. Aren't we keeping them below 1 point per possession so far? That's about our average - good for top 5 or 6 in the league.

Utah is 8-1 at home, and were 25-8 at home last season. They're just a different team in Salt Lake. Fortunately for us, they're also a different team in the playoffs :lol

Utah won't be able to keep this up in the 2nd half. They're running up and down the court every possession while the Spurs are saving their energy.

All the Spurs need to do is keep calm and hit their shots, they'll be fine.

Utah doing a great job exposing the Spurs bench.

I think you need a strong 8 to win it all. Not sure about running with this depth approach in the playoffs.

Overall, the most worrisome aspect is that the Spurs looked tired. They admitted to being tired last game and again look gassed. I realize they've been on the road a lot but I'm not sure that's a legit excuse.

And it also doesn't bode well for tomorrow night either.

spurs1990

Man I hate to play this card but Spurs are getting hit hard by the scheduling.

OKC is on a 6 game homestand and play shit teams every night. The schedule is rigged to make sure they get the top seed.

TampaDude

That was about as bad a quarter as they've had so far this season. About 25% from the field. Were 1 for 9 at one point.

The only thing that sucks is if they lose tonight, they won't be able to tank against Portland tomorrow.

The Spurs should pull it together in the second half and win by about 7 or 8 points.

At least PHX did us a solid by beating the Grizz tonight. :hat

They must not be aware that Utah is actually a good team. 8-1 at home means they're tough to beat. I actually thought we would lay an egg at the start of the game considering how tired we looked against Houston.

Is Splitter hurt or something, why is Blair getting such minutes

jestersmash
12-12-2012, 11:49 PM
Here's a positive spin on if we lose tonight -

The Jazz are 12-10 and hold the 6th seed in the West, currently.

Lakers are 9-13, good for 12th place. Lakers are essentially fighting, at best, for seeds 6 through 8 right now.

If we lose tonight we give Utah a much needed win to maintain that 6 spot and therefore help separate them from the Lakers. A Spurs loss is unlikely to help the Lakers at all because the Spurs are essentially guaranteed a playoff spot as is (likely top 4). Losing to Utah now but beating L.A. down the road is in all likelihood the best way to maximize the chance of L.A. missing the playoffs entirely.

Still stick by this, tbh. Win-win situation for us.

Blair sucks, but it doesn't really do us any good to put Diaw out there and have them ignore him and double off of him. Maybe he's somewhat of a better defender when he feels like it, but when he's circling the 3pt line on offense it's basically 4v5. At least Blair.. well... he attempts layups sometimes... BONNER SUCKS

Young or not, they're still human. How would you like flying from city to city every other night and getting to bed at around 3-4 a.m on those nights when you land? While these guys are professional NBA players, they're not robots. At some point, fatigue has to set in just a little from all the flying and playing basketball...

Frontline getting pounded outside of TimThe Spurs have been strong in the paint this year. Tonight they are bad in this area, yes, but one bad quarter or half shouldn't spark panic, tbh.

Besides, the Spurs were great last year in the playoffs at defending the paint. That was one of their main strengths.

overated second unitI'm not sure how the second unit is rated but they've been pretty awesome this year so far.

TO prone. The Spurs take care of the ball when TP is in. Pop hasn't yet selected a backup point guard so it's not too surprising that the bench turns it over a lot.

This. I've always like him, he's a pretty good passer too. I think he's a lot like Diaw in the sense that he needs to be on a team like the Spurs so he can thrive. Diaw was dead weight on the bobcats, when when on talented teams with phoenix or San Antonio (or, when he feels like it) he's a real asset because of his passing. Hayward has a strong outside shot and is a good passer. Utah unlikely to give him up anytime soon though. Plus i love that the best game of his career came in a win against the lakers where he hit the game winner and stripped Kobe's last shot that would have won it

TDfan2007
