View Full Version : AFC WildCard: Colts at Ravens
DeadlyDynasty
01-06-2013, 12:15 AM
1:00 EST. Line: Ravens (-7)...O/U=47. Joe Flacco has won more playoff games (6) than any other QB since he came into the league (2008). Rodgers and Roethlisberger are next in line w/ 5 each. If Luck and the Colts pull it off, they go to Denver next week in what would be the most publicized playoff game in years. My pick: Baltimore 27, Indy 17

Don't care who wins this one, I'd like Indy to win being underdogs, but I'd also love to see Ray Lewis in the superbowl. I want Seattle to beat Washington though.

if I was a betting man, whcih I'm not because I quit sportsbetting, I'd take the Ravens. Love fading the public underdog... rookie QB on road, Indy statistical profile is very unimpressive. Seems to be a case of a bad team getting a lot of lucky wins. of course you can't take away their clutchness, but I digress.
Ravens are an average team themselves though.

Ohhhhhh yaaa, it's the playoffs, what's the playoffs about? It means it's the opposite of the regular season. Win or go home. Now, Ima go home regardless after the game, we all are, but what kind of home you wanna go to? You wanna go to a home where you are a champion? I saiddddd, you wanna go home, kiss the kids and pop some popcorn as a champion? Now, we all champions in life, but this is football. This is what we live and die for, but we ain't dying yet. Yes, that turnover hurt, but The Colts showed us all they can play in this game and move the ball. They will take their shots down field. If they can hold up at all on defense and this is close going into the fourth, you have to like their chances.

Big completion by Luck there to get them back into range. If they can go in tied at half, that is a huge win. You have to imagine Luck will calm down a little bit and have a few big plays. Question is can Colts D hold up - not sure. They are playing pretty well (even though Balt isn't really being very creative).

I've never used the comeback drive argument, it's pretty lame. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. A comeback win doesn't mean more than a normal win. My argument for ROY is that he took a team that went 2-14 last year to an 11 win season. How he got the 11 wins doesn't mean anything to me.
But to answer your question, no. His receivers suck.

tbh, I think Luck is a bit overrated, but also a good young QB. I think his team played well, and carried him at times, becuase of the Chuckstrong shit. They were a motivated team this year. But Luck deserves credit for his part, he's a good young QB i just think he hasn’t played as well as the hype suggests.
I don't blame this loss on him, though he could've played better at times. his team did drop some big passes, but i saw this same thing with Peyton's teams. Truth be told, Colts are playing above their means, they aren't very good, even during Peyton's last few years.

He (and RG3 for that matter) is far and away better than Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson lives off play action and is incapable of pocket passing.
Both Luck and Rg3 are really good, but Luck fits passes into windows that I've never seen RG3 throw into because he sees a lot more wide open receivers than Luck does.

I think Luck was pretty good in his first outing (...he's a rookie), didn't expect much with that core. They should be serious contenders with that cap space.
But yeah, this Colts team isn't that good yet. They were the only playoff team with a negative point differential (and only 11 win team in history to have a (-)ve differential). I think they won 9 of their 11 games by less than a TD and 9-1 overall in game decided by a TD or less (which honestly is more of an anomaly than simple 'clutchness'). Easiest schedule in the NFL. Still a great season, but let's put it into perspective.
I'm not really interested in the rookie QB wankfest rivalry. The NFL is gonna be fun to watch with these new crop of QBs (namely Luck and RG3), tbh.

Regardless of how weak the AFC is, the Colts were the worst team in the AFC last year and the 5th best team this year. Either the rest of the AFC got a lot worse in 1 off season, or the Colts got a lot better for 1 reason or another.
