Imagine how you'd feel if Amendola didn't go to Tech.

I would think you'd be even more animated about New England choosing someone else over Welker.

It matters because Welker being a former Tech player is the only reason you care in the first place.

Apparently the Amendola deal was agreed to on Tuesday before the Welker to Denver talk. Now it's starting to make sense how this happened. Welker was asking for 8-9 million, Belichick went with his contingency plan because he expected a retarded team to give Welker 8-9 million a year, and then it was too late once Welker figured out he was only gonna get 6 million since having him and Amendola would be retarded.

That explains how everything transpired, but it makes Belichick look even more stupid for buying into the bullshit that Welker would get 8-9 million in the open market. I said all along he wouldn't get close to that regardless of how many receptions he had.

Yeah of course I keep up with him, root for him because he went to Tech. Same with Danny. I already said this deal makes no sense at least twice. Should i have said it in caps to appear less like a homer?

Here's my honest opinion as honest as I can make it:

If the Pats let Welker go because they don't want to pay when they already have Edelman, that would make absolutely perfect sense from a cap standpoint.

But it's retarded to offer a less proven player with no chemistry with Brady more money.

Happy for Danny getting paid at the expense of the stupid Pats, feel bad for Wes getting financially fucked, although getting passes from PM will be pretty cool.

Pretty much it.

Amendola's contract saves them cap space (initially) over Welker's contract. The fact they agreed w/ Amendola before they had any idea they could get Welker for 6 million a year also explains this one.

Amendola's cap figure for the next two years will be lower than Welker's cap figure. Welker's contract is also entirely guaranteed while Amendola's is only 33% guaranteed.

How did Welker get financially fucked? He got the best available deal in the open market. Is it really that hard to wrap your brain around the reality no team thought Welker was worth more than 6 million a season? Did the Patriots owe him more than his market value because he's such a tough lil' guy?

Monostradamus

btw the contract NE offered Welker was incentive laden and could have gotten him to the 8-9 million range, but i guess he wasn't so confident he could reach those performance levels. I guess if "don't drop routine passes in playoff games" was an incentive, it makes sense to turn that offer down.

New England had better use every last dollar of cap room because that's their only excuse. Brady obviously did his deal to help keep Wes.....not help send him to a rival QB.

Long term deals are given out based on expected future production, not past production. Teams don't pay players for what they've already done. This concept seems to evade you like any remotely analytical concept evades Wild Cobra.

Welker is one of many veterans Brady has seen leave the team in spite of him taking a contract well below what he'd get on the open market. Maybe he's a little disappointed, but he's not pissed.

Now you're totally changing the subject. Whatever personal grudge there was between the Patriots and Welker has nothing to do with why the 31 other teams in the NFL didn't want to offer him more than what he got. Are you now resorting to Longhornfan level of homerism where you use Jeff Fisher as the reason why Vince Young can't get a job with the 31 NFL teams not coached by Jeff Fisher?

As far as what transpired, it's pretty clear now. They moved on and went after Amendola on Tuesday because they thought Welker would command 8-9 million a year (which was obviously a retarded conjecture on their part). If they thought they could get Welker for 2 years/12 million before they committed to Amendola, they would have done so.

I think some flak really has to start falling on Belichick. The Patriots have had too many high draft picks, too much cap space, and too many players wanting to take discounts to play for him for them to lack as much talent as they do now. Either the Patriots aren't bringing in the right players, or the coaching staff is failing to develop them properly. As far as I understand it, both of those things fall on Belichick's shoulders.

How do Pats fans feel about their team needing another off-season to address needs they've had for years now? Am I wrong in believing Belichick has been off the last few years (at least with the defense)?

The Chiefs' grotesquely overrated offseason rolls on with the signing of Sean Smith, easily the most overhyped corner in the league.... he was graded only 52nd in coverage among all cornerbacks last season by PFF, yet there was somehow a decent market out there for this guy and he was considered one of the best in free agency, tbh.... Yes on defense, no on offense. Their O-line picks have been pretty good, and of course Gronk and Hernandez. Their secondary picks have looked good for a year or two then fallen off. I think their secondary coach must suck, or hteir process for picking those players suck, or some combo.

I think Bill understood where the league was headed, he just had a shitty gameplan. if you have a top QB and an elite offense you can win a title, you really don't need an elite defense to win. The Saints and Packers proved that. What Bill did wrong was in his defensive scheme. If you want to win with a weak defense, your D has to be overly aggressive at forcing turnovers, like the Saints and Packers. Bill not only had a shitty defense, but he played it ultra conservative and never tries to blitz or have his DB's jump routes. So instead of getting burned on big plays all game but force 2-3 turnovers as well, his defense just gets burned nonstop.

As bad as his talent evaluation looks, his player development on defense has been even worse since 2007. The amount of 1st and 2nd rounders he's wasted on defense would have gotten any coach/GM who isn't regarded be the general public as a football genius fired. His problem is that he tries to address needs on defense every year but creates new needs by changing the defense every year and never properly developing players.

His big problem is a lackluster coaching staff on defense. He let his ego get the best of him for years when he was head coach/defensive coordinator. A lot of the players he's drafted had talent falling out of their ears and had promising rookie seasons, but they regressed and were eventually cut due to a lack of development. As I just said he also enhances this problem by switching between a 4-3 and a 3-4 every year when he's got one of the youngest defenses in the NFL that needs continuity and stability to develop.

Belichick fucked up with all of these defensive players either by misjudging talent, developing them horribly or some combination of the two-

Ras-IR Dowling

Patrick Chung

Maybe his drafting on offense hasn't been as bad, but there are a few big needs on offense he's been completely unable to address that aren't as noticeable because of Brady, namely an outside receiving threat to replace Branch and Givens after they left, which is especially important since Deion Branch and David Givens wouldn't cut it at receiver in today's NFL. Outside of being gifted Randy Moss by the worst organization in the NFL, he's either signed free agent receivers who suck or drafted receivers who suck. His most notable fuckups here were picking Chad Jackson over Greg Jennings and Brandon Tate over Mike Wallace. Shane Vereen is good, but picking a backup running back over Torrey Smith was also pretty fuckin stupid.

The offensive line was also extremely overrated for years and it was basically addressed by accident. Dan Koppen had been horrible in 3 straight playoff games (2007 Giants, 2009 Ravens, 2010 Jets) and he only lost his job because of a season ending ankle injury in 2011. The garbage they had at right guard from 2007-2010 also wasn't addressed till Brian Waters fell into their lap as a cheap pickup right before the season started. Additionally, as good as Logan Mankins is, he's a choker. He was beyond bad in both superbowls against the Giants.

This, and additionally those Saints and Packers teams had talent all over the field on offense. Their receiving corps consisted of more than a bunch of athletically inferior midgets who "Run really good routes!"

I think the Patriots defense is a dinosaur. The front seven is big and consists of guys who specialize at stopping the run. Chandler Jones is one of my favorite young players, but I don't think he fits there. Meanwhile, the secondary can't cover, and the linebackers can help them due to their lack of athleticism. In a passing league, that's a recipe for disaster. Not to mention that teams that specialize in running the ball can still do so on that line. The Ravens got several good runs straight up the middle, and even more by bouncing to the outside and outrunning the defense.

On offense, there's no reason why the Patriots still lack legitimate receivers. They've had the picks and passed on Torrey Smith, Randal Cobb, and many others. They should have to rely on so many free agents.

Anything is better than the midgets that we had last year. When you have the worst statistical defense in the history of the NFL, you have nowhere to go but up. Lewis has size and great instincts. I think he had the 2nd lowest completion percentage of all passes thrown his way last year.

However, the Saints biggest problem still remains a pass rush. When a QB has all day to throw the ball, WR's are going to get open against even the best CBs.

Emmanuel Sanders is visiting today. Pats would have to give 3rd rounder to sign him.

Also, Amendola's deal is for 27.7 million, not 31 million. His total cap hit this year will be $3,500,000 so having him over Welker does initially save $2,500,000 in cap room.

Bill not only had a shitty defense, but he played it ultra conservative and never tries to blitz or have his DB's jump routes. So instead of getting burned on big plays all game but force 2-3 turnovers as well, his defense just gets burned nonstop.

This, although I think that BB trusted his secondary and pass rush so little that was a reason they played conservatively. When we got Talib, we became much more aggressive with the pass rush and it worked in our favor. Losing Talib against Baltimore hurt. (Which shows how shoddy the cb's are for us.)

Honestly, the New England defense is built wrong right now. We've got a decent ability to stop the run, and no ability to stop the pass. Whereas with our quick strike capability, we shouldn't care if they move the chains on the ground.

This, and additionally those Saints and Packers teams had talent all over the field on offense. Their receiving corps consisted of more than a bunch of athletically inferior midgets who "Run really good routes!"

.....I asked a rival offensive coordinator about that yesterday and he replied: “Numbers don’t lie. They score all the time. The reason they aren’t winning Super Bowls anymore is they don’t have a physical defense anymore. There’s not one guy on defense we had to game plan for.

“In ’03 and ’04, you worried about (Willie) McGinest and (Mike) Vrabel and (Tedy) Bruschi. You worried about (Rodney) Harrison and (Ty) Law and (Asante) Samuel. I almost forgot (Richard) Seymour and he’s the one you worried about the most. Change their offense? Why?“If you’re going to change, why bring in (Danny) Amendola? He’s the same guy as Welker, just not as tough or as good.”The idea that offense is preventing the Patriots from another Duck Boat Parade down Boylston flies in the face of the facts.

Despite the middle of the field allegedly being littered with too many receivers, the Patriots led the NFL in scoring two of the last three years and finished third the other season. In the two years prior, before the alleged glut of receivers over the middle, they finished sixth and eighth in scoring and seventh and 13th in passing touchdowns. So the fact is the offense scored*more points*with Welker, Gronkowski and Hernandez as the main focus.........

He was New England's best corner his rookie year and then fell apart afterwards (like LnGrrrR said, our secondary coaching staff is horrible). I'd say he just needed to find the right team in order to realize his talent, so it wasn't a lucky stretch.

Probably not since Tom Brady alone enables them to win 12 games and the AFC east every year. The AFC and particularly the AFC East is so weak that gimmicks like whoring your slot receiver is all that's needed to make the playoffs.

I don't pretend that wide receivers make the QB and I wouldn't want to over pay receivers myself.

But letting your QB's favorite security blanket walk at the savings of a couple million is unspinnably stupid. The chances are very high the offense will not be as good as usual for at least first half of the season.

Imagine how you'd feel if Amendola didn't go to Tech.

There are some ways it makes sense even though I would have just kept Welker rather than risk Brady having to mesh with a new slot receiver. Welker's contract has more guaranteed money, Amendola is younger, bigger, and faster, and Brady hasn't developed a habit of forcing balls into good coverage when throwing to Amendola.

Who said they were better off with Amendola instead of Welker?

On Ed Reed, his plan is to be patient with this, as much as he can be ... No plans to visit anyone else at this point, but that could change
Expand

I'm starting to think that Ed just wants to experience what it's like to be a marquee free agent. He's been a star for a long time, but he's been under contract for six years, and he was on his rookie deal before that. Just like Ray before him, he wants to be courted by teams. I think it's Reed's preference to stay in Baltimore. The Ravens won't really have any cap room until Boldin comes back to the States, takes his physical and officially gets traded. So even if the Ravens and Reed agreed to a deal, they can't sign it until a week or so from now. Why not take advantage of the benefits of being a free agent while you can?

That being said, there's talk that the Ravens don't really want Reed back. All the movements they've made shows they aren't really concerned about keeping their core together. If that conspiracy nonsense has any merit, then that just furthers the chances of Reed playing elsewhere. There's also limited money to go around (about $9 Million in cap remaining for the Ravens), so it's hard to see how the Ravens can give Reed a good contract AND fill their holes at tackle and linebacker. Ozzie can get it done, but he may not think Ed's worth the trouble.

So it's a bet you're not taking since you know Welker's numbers will take a dive without the offense and QB that made him relevant. What shocker there.

It also has plenty to do with everything here since you claim Wes Welker is an elite receiver who'll be productive wherever he goes. Obviously you don't feel too strongly about that claim.

Pats are cutting Brandon Lloyd.... who's Brady gonna throw to when Amendola gets hurt?
Tbh there's supposedly a high probability Lloyd is gonna re-sign but this cut is horrible if he doesn't. Even with Lloyd their receiving group was still a bunch of soft bred pussies who'd fold against a team like the 2010 Jets, 2011 Giants, or 2012 Ravens.

It's pretty simple, if they don't add a physical receiver who can make plays in tight coverage (since according to Techfan the Wes Welker superbowl drop was a historically difficult catch he would have had to make in great coverage) they're not winning another superbowl. Lloyd wasn't that receiver but he was a good 2nd option and cutting him makes their receivers suck that much more. I wish I could tell you what the plan is.

I'm anticipating another playoff loss where they score 13-17 points while the defense, after playing well in the 1st half, folds because it's been on the field with little to no rest due to a series of 3 and outs from the offense. Then after the game we'll hear about how the Patriots defense is why they lost.

He's not a burner but scouting reports say he has enough speed and athleticism to stretch the field to keep defenses honest. I hate when Brady throws deep anyways because his deep ball is shit. Anquan Boldin - 6'1" 218
Emmanuel Sanders - 5'11" 186

I don't understand that comparison at all since Boldin is the opposite of a speed guy. They didn't need prime Randy Moss. They need a receiver that isn't an undersized pussy who can make plays in tight coverage against physical secondaries and can consistently beat single coverage. Donald Jones sure as fuck isn't that guy, and I doubt Emmanuel Sanders is either. I don't give a shit about his 40 time or what Steelers fans think. As you said, Brady's deep ball sucks, so it's not gonna be successful when he's throwing to a midget under 6 feet tall as that requires a perfectly thrown deep ball into a tight window. Defenses won't respect it anymore than his deep balls to Lloyd or Welker.

Gronk can be the physical receiver who makes plays against good coverage, but if Belichick is building the receiving corps with the expectation Gronk will be healthy then he's a fuckin moron. Gronk's made it clear partying with other topless dudes (lol the white Vince Young) is his highest priority and he'll risk injury in the process.

Tbh the one hope I'm counting on making a midseason trade for a receiver like they did for Talib last year. I give it a few weeks into the season before Santonio Holmes and the Jets have had enough of each other and they look to unload him ASAP even if it's to their rival.

1) I wouldn't have waived Lloyd
2) DHB
3) Braylon Edwards

It's a long shot, but 2 and 3 have the physical potential to become the receiver they need. Emmanuel Sanders doesn't.

I see what you're saying that the wide receivers available this year were trash, but I'd much rather them sign a few boom or bust receivers than replace a bunch of midgets with more midgets.

I probably wouldn't be bitching if they kept Lloyd and signed Sanders (which hasn't been done yet) since that is an unquestionable improvement over last season. My frustration stems from them thinking Donald Jones is capable of being a starter on a superbowl team just as much as it stems from them thinking Emmanuel Sanders is gonna be the outside threat that both replaces Lloyd and adds the element they need.

Welker wouldn't do much of anything in Arizona. I would never make a silly claim like that.

And Wes getting 1000 in Denver proves nothing. Danny getting 110+ rec 1200 yards though would prove Wes was extremely expendable.

I'd be more than willing to bet on Amendola's numbers if an injury clause that cancelled the bet was included (and I'd let you include that if you wanted to bet on Welker's numbers).

You want an injury clause on Danny. Shocker!

Even though Welker getting 1000 is a meaningless bet, I'll take you up on it, if we include injury clause to both Welker and Manning.

This. The time to draft a receiver was 2011 when the receiver class had a few beast prospects and they had two first round picks. The only receivers I'd want belichick drafting are guys like aj green and Julio jones who a 12 year old could tell would dominate in the nfl.

An injury clause for both Welker and Manning. If Welker misses 8 total quarters or PM misses 12 total quarters of action for any reason, bet is null. Fair enough?

Even if Welker hits 1000, why would that make him elite in Denver, but hitting 1500 in NE doesn't mean anything because Troy Brown etc etc.

That makes no sense.

Them using it was more the angle I was taking. If they didn't go after an impact free agent with the cap space I was worried they would outbid Houston. With them looking like they are retooling the defense I think they will use that money elsewhere and not burn most of the rest of it on Reed.

Ozzie lets more player rule him. If Reed thinks the Ravens will blink, he has another thing coming. They know he's more likely to retire after next season than play three more. No way they get caught up in dead money from that.

That being said, it's possible the Ravens would sign both Huff and Reed. They have two safety spots to fill. I know that Huff is a free safety, but I think the Ravens are moving away from a FS/SS back end and more toward a WS/SS alignment. That could explain the Pollard release. They have Christian Thompson penciled in to fill Pollard's spot now. He's pretty much a free safety.

When it comes to value, don’t expect another nudging of the bar by a quarter inch or so. With Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4677/joe-flacco) getting $20.1 million per year roughly eight months after Saints quarterback Drew Brees (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/591/drew-brees) receiver $20 million annually, Rodgers could go as high as $23 million annually.

Schaub is not a big game QB. HOWEVER, this team has NEVER had a legit #2 reciever. Ever. They need a game changer on offense and if they can find one, that means less that Schaub has to do. Reed has seen the Texans' offense multiple times, and if Kubiak is smart, he would pick his brain about how other teams view it and what to change.

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_22861666/elvis-dumervil-agrees-contract-baltimore-ravens

Once again, the Baltimore Ravens have defeated the Broncos.Elvis Dumervil, one of the best defensive ends in Broncos history, has agreed in principle to a multiyear contract with the Ravens, according to two NFL sources.

Dumervil's departure occurs 10 weeks after Baltimore stunned the Broncos, 38-35 in double-overtime of a second-round AFC playoff game on a below-zero windchill Saturday afternoon.

A blustery snowstorm greeted Denver on Saturday when the Broncos learned Dumervil and his 63½ sacks were moving on.

The Broncos are expected to focus on signing defensive end John Abraham, who had 10 sacks and six forced fumbles for the Atlanta Falcons last season — or just one less sack than Dumervil. Former Indianapolis Colt Dwight Freeney is also a possibility if the Broncos can't reach an agreement with Abraham.

First step to rebuilding.

You're someone who doesn't know what a good front office is. They didn't acquire any impact players other than Von Miller and Manning in 2011. All of their other pieces were already there. Their talent came from the previous regime. At best, Elway added the keystone.

You can't really say that until after next season. Orlando Franklin wasn't much of a miss. Nate Irving is said to get more burn (and possibly start) at MLB this season. Derek Wolfe will only be in his second season and showed promise his first season, and Jeremy Beal was doing great in preseason before going on IR. Brock Osweiler is an unknown, Hillman showed some strides last year but has much to prove, Malik Jackson will get serious burn as an interior rusher which is his strength, and the jury is out on everyone else.

You are a little too fast to call all these players busts, and especially as a Ravens fan, you should know better then to be premature. Flacco was known as a player who couldn't get it done in the postseason before this year. There was nothing to convince you otherwise. Then he had an epic postseason.

Dumervil was badly overpaid from the Josh Mcdaniels era. Denver is going to have to worry about paying their other guys (DT, Decker, Miller, Woodyard, Harris) down the road. That deal had to be mostly off the books or redone. He is a very good pass rusher, but he was no where near worth that kind of money in that original contract.

When I say that they missed on all their picks, I say that because they passed over a better player in each round. Think about it: Elway knew he didn't want Tebow, but he passed on Kaepernick (literally traded the pick to the 49ers) only to draft some no-name the next season. I could go on about their miscues (Hillman over Pierce probably being the one of the most egregious), but I agree that it's too soon to absolutely label those players busts. I think for a team in win-now mode, they need their picks to contribute immediately or they have failed at drafting, but time will make one of us right.

No offense, man, but that is literally the worst take I've read on this forum. Flacco was one of the winningest quarterbacks in NFL history through four years. He had started every game since he was drafted, and he was the only quarterback in the modern era to win playoff games in each of his first four seasons. He had also seen the two previous post-seasons end on dropped passes. No one who had actually watched him was labeling him a choker. In fact, that's why he turned down a deal that averaged $16 Million a season. The Ravens already considered him elite, and he knew he was even better than they thought.

Elway hasn't done anything other than bring in Manning and John Fox. Miller was the obvious pick, so I won't give him credit for it. He routinely gets fleeced on the trade market, and his eye for talent is suspect at best. Even bringing in Manning took little actual insight, and many people blame Fox for the loss. It's crazy how bad he's been.

Can they overcome Dumervil's loss? Of course. But there's no reason to assume they're going to do it. That front office is borderline incompetent and if it wasn't for the gifts Shannahan and McDaniels left them (Josh was a terrible coach, but a more-than-decent personnel guy), they'd still be stuck in the cellar like the Rams.

Seriously, dude, you don't have to double-down on that take. Just pretend like you didn't say it and move on. I promise, I won't even harp on you for it after this.

I don't think I have to defend Flacco's playoff performance prior to this post-season. Literally, if Evans catches that pass, the Ravens are in the Super Bowl last year. It's hard to say that Flacco didn't have the intangibles then. The year before that, he was in the middle of one of his now-routine comeback drives against Pittsburgh when Housh dropped a pass that hit him in the chest on fourth down. Flacco's literally had it in him to win the big one since he was a sophomore.

If your only way of defining whether someone is good enough is by them actually doing it, then you and I just have different views. Flacco didn't change this season. He made big plays, and he threw some bad balls. Jacoby Jones came up clutch where Lee Evans had failed. Two Broncos defenders dropped key interceptions. Flacco capitalized and won the games. That's what he's been doing for years. That's why I've been so against Flacco being in the elite discussion. He's the same player he was before. He'll make the same mistakes, and he'll make the same amazing plays.

Also, Kubiak likes to sugarcoat his players too much when they fuck up, like Schaub for example. Reed will come in and hold people accountable.

I know it doesn't change anything for Schaub, which is why I hope they draft a mobile QB sometime in the draft. What I do hope is that they continue to add to the defense and make it better than last year, and find a game changer on offense. Schaub is going to have to nut up come playoffs, but in order for him to do that the head coach and owner can't keep protecting him like they are. Kubiak mainly needs to grow some balls and lay criticism when he needs to. Whether that be in the locker room or press conference. A game changing playmaker on offense would help, if they could find one in the draft.

Matt Schaub's lack of mobility isn't the problem, his lack of clutchness/ability to do anything in the 4th quarter is the problem.

Saying the Denver front office with Elway is "god awful" is too much.

After wasting a first round pick on Tebow, Elway came in and cleaned it up nicely by stealing a draft pick from the Jets for him and bringing in Manning.

Getting Welker for a good price was a nice coup a well.

Not the best front office to be sure, but definitely not God awful.

I know it's not his problem specifically, just it'd be nice to have one in this offense. His lack of clutchness is definitely a problem, like when he craters and takes a sack when there is plenty of time in the pocket, or he throws it away when there's plenty of time in the pocket, then goes on the radio and says "The team has to play better".

This happened yesterday but New England re-signed Vollmer. Hopefully he stays healthy again this year but chances are they got him for a good price since the market for him was so soft.

IMO, the Ravens definitely upgraded by basically going from Kruger to Dumervil when Kruger would have costed more money. People are also forgetting they get Lardarius Webb back next year w/ Haloti Ngata and Terrell Suggs at 100% compared to last season when they were playing w/ injuries. Their two big losses are Boldin and Reed imo. There are plenty of good ILBs left on the market to replace Ellerby and Lewis, while it's not hard to replace a safety who doesn't cover. If Boldin and Reed are replaced well enough they'll still be an AFC contender next year.

They added RT Gosder Cherilus who only missed like 4 games in his career with the Lions. Winston Justice was good for us last year but he couldn't stay healthy. I like that the new Colts front office is not wasting time on players that keep ending up on IR, the last front office was way too loyal to guys like that (Bob Sanders probably rings the loudest bell).

Also added G Donald Thomas who was a backup with the Patriots but DoK told me dude was pretty good when he got to play. I still think they need to draft another lineman though, maybe another guard or possibly a center to train up until Samson Satele's deal expires. 2013 Colts are definitely trying to follow the 2001 Patriots model, win a Super Bowl with a deep FA class.

Luck was sacked like 41 times last year and who knows how many sacks he should have taken, he got out of quite a few.

If the Ravens have a good draft, they should be better than they were last season. They have 12 picks, but only about six or seven open spots. I could see them trading up and getting some impact players to go along with a solid free-agency run. It's not very often a team improves their run defense and pass-rushing by spending only $5 Million.

I do believe they did get Bush. I didn't even take him into account when I said they don't need WR. Even though he isn't a WR, he's one of those backs that can catch too so he has that added element. You always hear about free agents saying shit like "Oh I just want to win the Super Bowl" but it's all bullshit. They just want money. Colts don't really have much cap room left to use in free agency but I don't think they want to work in a rookie WR.

Why go from Raiders to Lions tho DHB? Didn't you know?

I agree. If a player falls to the Ravens who they think can be a solid number-one guy, they should pick him. They don't need to just draft one for the heck of it, though. They have drafted four receivers in the last three drafts and picked up two more as UDFAs. I'm interested in seeing what those players can do.

Now the Giants are a team I really do think will be just fine. Reese drafts well. What does that team need right now? I guess a some secondary players, but I imagine Amukamara a chance to live up to his draft status.

Amukamara/Hosley are going to be the main guys. I have given up on Thomas and Webster is a concern. I am glad Aaron Ross is back, though, but another young corner would not hurt. I hated losing Phillips, but Stevie Brown looks promising. Will Hill also has me excited. JPP better be in shape this year. He got fat and lazy after winning a ring, and his 6.5 sack season proved it. This could be Tuck's final season as a Giant, and I am excited to see who emerges as Osi's replacement. If Austin can stay healthy and focused, it would be a new look for this pass rush. A penetrating DT would do wonders for Tuck and JPP along with Joseph.

That seems untrue. The Ravens lost four starters from 2011-2012, went the first half of the season without another, and kept another on the bench for the whole regular season. They also dealt with another missing most of the season and they lost the another player who was an opening-day starter. That's seriously nine players, not counting three key subs. I imagine the Ravens have the most turnover out of any team in the league. Really, this off-season's been pretty typical.

Probably. Reed couldn't really tackle to save his life, and until the playoff, he was having a hard time sticking to his assignment. Good teams find a way to put players in a position to succeed. Tbh, if Canty can stay healthy, he will help the Ravens. The Giants cut him loose mainly due to his salary. He was not healthy last year, so it was unfair to call him a scrub. It was a solid low risk move by Ozzie. Canty's impact on the D-Line is underestimated when the Giants won the SB. He and Joseph got that push to make life easier for Osi/Tuck/JPP.
