I don't know what it is about him, but he just has a grip on some people. There's a large segment of Browns fans that simply refuse to believe that he sucks, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Good move for Seattle. They get a 4th round pick and a conditional pick. And they shed Flynn's salary from the cap. We will crush the Niners.

As for Namdhi, I think he can be more effective now that he'll be back in the bay area where he feels comfortable. I don't expect the level he played at with the Raiders, but a valuable component nevertheless
If the Niners don't have massive injuries, they're almost a lock for a 19-0 Super Bowl championship.
I'm kind of rooting against them now so the 2009 Colts finally get let off the hook.

That's fair. It just seems unlike the Patriots to have such few picks. It's always nice to have that flexibility come draft day.
This sucks for the Steelers (not that anyone on this board really cares, though). They could have kept Sanders this season and still gotten a third for him in a couple of years. Now, they have to worry about trying to use that Pats pick to find a replacement for one of their two receivers. They could shock everyone and match the offer, but I'd have to see the offer-sheet details to know how possible that would be.

Imagine if we actually had a coach/GM who was great at drafting defensive talent during the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 draft :lol, it'd be the deepest defense in the NFL with all those picks going to actual quality players.

RE this: this is the year the Albert Haynesworth and OchoCinco trades catch up to them in the draft. That's why they have so few picks. Additionally, prior to last year, they had two first round picks but always used one to trade down and stockpile for next year. Last year they actually used both first rounders so they didn't make the trade to add more picks like they normally do. I was fine with them using both picks as it was time to stop building for the future, I just wish they made better use of the 2nd first rounder than a 270 pound fatshit ILB who can't cover.

Ravens fans REALLY wanted Hightower last year. They were upset that they had to "settle" for Upshaw. All things considered, it's worked out for Baltimore so far. It is a shame that the Patriots have two inside linebackers who can't cover. This wouldn't be a bad year to move up to get a player like Ogletree in the mid-second to compliment their run-stoppers. I just don't see how they could justify taking him after having invested in Spikes and Hightower.
But hey, I hear Te'o can't cover to save his life. He'd be a fine pick.

They can't take Ogletree when they have other big holes on the roster, especially when Ogletree is probably gonna require a 1st round pick. I think the shit sandwich they have at strong safety and they lack of depth at corner are bigger issues than coverage linebacker (and that's ignoring the giant hole they have at receiver on offense) especially with Fletcher coming back when he's their best coverage linebacker. When Fletcher started to get more snaps in 2011 it improved the defense so hopefully him being back changes things. Hightower iirc was pretty good in coverage at Alabama and was banged up a lot last year but I just don't see him every being good in coverage at this level unless there's a lot of athleticism we didn't see.
Jerod Mayo is also overrated as hell and never gets criticism for how incomplete a player he is. Spikes and Hightower are particularly bad in coverage so I understand why they get the criticism, but Mayo in coverage is pretty awful. He racks up tackles because he's surrounded by run stuffers who force the ball carrier in his direction but he forces little to no turnovers and he's never stepped up as a leader on D when he was drafted to replace linebackers known for their leadership (Bruschi, Vrabel). One problem with the defense that never gets talked about is that outside of Wilfork it's a bunch of soft spoken pussies with no swagger who are programmed to turn the other cheek when teams like Baltimore and the NYG punk them.

This is a quasi-biased take b/c I lived in Pitt for a couple years, but Emmanuelle (sp?) Sanders is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED. He's deceptively fast, runs good routes, and is a great 3rd down option. On top of that he's young. Pats got their money's worth with him, imho. Apart from Limas Sweed, the Steelers are usually very adept at drafting hidden gem WRs.

I'm pretty surprised Pittsburgh kept Sanders. It was a 1 year deal when next year is gonna be a rebuilding year for them and unlike New England they have a great track record of turning 3rd round picks into good receivers (Sanders, Wallace, Brown all 3rd round or later). Seems like they should be hoarding 2nd and 3rd round picks to replace the players they've lost with cheap talent.
Oh well. I was never a fan of Sanders and didn't think he was the answer. I still say BB needs to swallow his pride and re-sign Brandon Lloyd since he's their best available option right now, as well as draft another receiver. Cutting Steve Gregory also seems like an obvious move when they have dwindling cap room and he's useless as shit.

He's good at stopping the run and has the ocassional good blitz, but in today's NFL his skillset is only a little bit more useful than an asshole on your elbow. I'm basically writing him off as a player's who's strengths in no way warranted a 1st round pick. Brandon Spikes part two more or less, a good player but never gonna be an every down linebacker.
