It's a statement game for Spurs bench. Clippers bench is one of the best in the league and has given a lot of troubles to Spurs in a lot of previous games. Spurs have some quality players on their bench but some of them are really struggling right now and their chemistry is iffy.

Easy win for them Spurs, tbh...
With Lawson and Gastrong injuries, the Clippers should feel pretty good about their chances, they're clearly the third team that could realistically come out of the west with the Spurs and OKC.

Keep DeAndre Jordan out of the paint, Splittle has to be physical again.
force Griffen outside and limit the 3 shooters the best you can.
Paul will be Paul so minimize that damage.
Limit Crawford to shooting outrageous YOLO threes.

Love how everybody keeps bringing up the one Spurs win while disregarding the loss in San Antonio to the Clippers as well as the 24 point beatdown in LA. Last year the Clippers also won the season series 2-1 and should have won the other one if not for the horrific Ryan Gomes backcourt violation. Bottom line is it's in San Antonio and the Spurs are the more consistent, better team, so I say they win by 6 but to act like they CAN'T lose to the Clippers unless by a miracle is shortsighted.

Spurs won the season series last year 2-1. Would've been the other way around if not for the blown play at the end of the second game, tho. That loss at the AT&T Center earlier this year came when the Spurs were without Leonard and Jack got hurt in the second quarter. Spurs are pretty close to full strength for this one.

Ah, my memory failed me. Regardless the bottom line is that the teams have played each other close the last two years outside of the playoffs when half a Clippers team met a Spurs team coming off 9 days rest. I think the biggest disparity between the teams isn't talent at all but rather coaching. Pop makes Vinny look like a dumb fu** every single time. Like seriously I'd trade Chris Paul to the Spurs for Popvich straight up. Talent wise and styles wise they are way more similar than people realize.
Best positions for both teams, both with all stars? PF and PG. Two teams with most depth in the NBA. Spurs no doubt have superior execution but both teams thrive when they work inside out on offense and get out on the break from forcing turnovers. I think the Spurs are what the Clippers can be next year IF BIG IF... they get a high caliber coach like SVG or Sloan. With Vinny at the helm we are capped at 2nd round unfortunately.
Unless somehow the Clippers miraculously dig deep and find the confidence and heart they had in December which we haven't seen for like 3 months now.

It's painful due to how high the bar was set early in the season but I just need to accept the reality that we are the 3rd or 4th best team in the west and that.... it's not so bad considering I was a fan many years when we couldn't even win 25 games. I think the media and opposing fans judge the Clippers as if they have been together years and doesn't give them fair expectations and as a result I've been doing the same. The Spurs, Thunder, Heat etc have had their cores intact 3+ years now. Takes a good 3-4 years to build that chemistry.

Sorry but Parker's 1 on 1 defense is subpar. Your team has yet to play Chris Paul straight up, at least since he's been in a Clipper uniform. Always doubles and traps coming. If you believe this though than I guess we can say Parker's 15 combined points on 30 percent shooting in two games vs the Clippers this year.. that it was CP3 shutting him down.

Ironically the Spurs depend on defense into fastbreaks just as much. In San Antonio’s 54 wins they average 19.0 points off turnovers per game. However, in their 17 losses that number drops down to 12.9.

Not sure about when he was on the Hornets.. although didn't he torch your team when he took you to game 7 in the semis? As I said.. at best you can say they both shut each other down this year. CP3 outplayed Parker handily in the first two games although he didn't shoot particularly well. As I said though, I have yet to see Parker or the Spurs play CP3 straight up.. so rather than give Parker all the credit it's more accurate to say the Spurs team did.

Not really. It was the Hornets as a team, plus they had homecourt advantage.

Game 3: 35 points, 9 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal on 60 percent shooting.

Singlehandedly when? The year Parker won finals MVP as a 25 year old over a just out of prime Timmy? The year Robinson, health issues and all was still one of the better centers in 99? Or the year they played the NETS in the finals? Look Duncan is a legend, top 10 player, tops at his position but he has ZERO case over Shaq or Russell at least in terms of peak or prime. Maybe due to longevity he has an okay case. Although Russell's 11 rings as the best player pretty much lock him into the top 5. As for my comments about DJ.. I simply said physically he has all time great tools. Too bad he doesn't have the brain to accomplish more than solid starter.

Shaq is often considered to have the greatest peak of any player in NBA history and has the same 4 rings as Duncan as a clearly more dominant player. He also has significantly better career numbers. Russell's career AVERAGES are 15 ppg, 22 rpg, 4.5 apg and although not tracked an estimated 6-7 blocks a game and 2-3 steals per game. Not to mention he was the most important player on a team that won 11 titles in his 13 year career. It's not my fault I'm talking with people who don't know basketball history.
I'm dealing with a Clippers fan that bashes his own team before a game even starts. I wouldn't be surprised if you're a 2 year fan and all but you don't have the experience to have a discussion with me about the Clippers or probably any other team.

Probably some of both. Hammies are so hard to come back from, and being afraid of reinjuring it can mess with your movement. He was really cranky with Pop
for holding him out for so long, but I think once those hammies or leg pulls of any kind (for example, Neal) get going, it takes forever to really really heal enough so that it is unlikely to get reinjured relatively easily, as appears to have happened here.

Listen dude, just because you started watching the NBA in 2002 after your balls dropped doesn't mean you can come on this forum and start talking shit. This is Spurstalk and your trash takes are going to be called out here.
The so-called weak title over the Nets you're referring to is after The Spurs went through the Suns, the fucking Lakers, and the Mavs, BEFORE they got to the Nets. The fact that Duncan did it essentially on his own is a testament to his legacy, something Shaq and Russell never had to DREAM of doing.
Btw against Shaq, the guy you say is clearly better than Tim, Duncan's stats for that series: 28 PPG, 12 RPG, 5 dimes, and over a block per. All while being the ONLY consistent threat the Spurs put on the court.
If you're going bring your takes with the same level of IQ you accuse your center of having, you need to go downstairs. I have no quarrel with you but I'll shut that weak shit down every time in this forum.

I mentioned physically DJ is a hell of a specimen and when I used Russell/Shaq as the athletic, wingspan, height etc comparison you brought up Duncan which seemed odd.
It's pretty simple. Russell was on the most stacked team in NBA history, and Shaq, while more dominant in his prime, was nowhere near the force that Duncan was on defense for most of his career. Shaq started as an elite defender and got worse as he got fat. Duncan is still at the same level of defense he's always been at, if not a half notch below. Shaq was also nowhere near the all around force that Tim was, and never carried a team like Tim did that year. The fact that you cited in the Nets as a point against the Spurs while disingenuously neglecting to mention that the Spurs went through a prime Lakers that year pretty much seals your reputation as a Clippers homer who hasn't been watching sports that long, or a hater. Take your pick.
Russell doesn't even warrant comparison, IMO, as the era differences combined with a team so stacked that Kobe might actually make the playoffs with them makes the discussion relatively moot.
