Anywhere in town is fine as I don't mind driving. Good but not outrageously expensive.

Define outrageously expensive? Also, do you have a food preference (Sushi, steak, Italian..)?

No Asian food. There are very few that I trust. Anything else is fine...Mexican, Italian, American...whatever. Modestly priced...50 bucks or so for two.

Good Time Charlies. Award winning chicken fingers, burgers and steaks. If you want great cheap mexican food henrys puffy tacos. If you want to spend more money but eat like a king papacitos. If you want more of a bar & grill with scenery then twin peaks

I've always liked Pappadeuxs if you are down for seafood. Maggianos is pretty good too.

Go to La Gloria on the river at the pearl brewery just north of downtown. This place is phenomenal and you will be very pleasantly surprised by the check when it comes. They serve mexican street food (street tacos, mocahetes of meat, and other things). Here is the menu http://chefjohnnyhernandez.com/lagloria/La_Gloria_Menu_Food.pdf

I can't recommend this place enough.

Urban Taco is very solid (in the Quarry).

Heard 20nine in Quarry is good as well.

Stonewerks in Quarry is very solid.

Mexican food - La Fogata, El Mirasol, Soluna, El Jarro, La Fonda on Main.

Italian - Sorrentos, Florios, Paesanos, Dough.

The Stonewerks recommendation is pretty solid. Any of the locations. Has a nice bar, wide variety to pick from and pretty reasonably priced.

Their salsa. I mean their plates are pretty average, but damn they have amazing salsa. I gotta go pick up a couple of bottles.

If you want downtown check out Lukes. It's really fucking nice. Everyone I have ever taken there raved about the food. If you like mussels theirs are freaking amazing and served with a fantastic peasant style bread for sopping up that amazing wine sauce they are cooked in. Free valet parking if you tell them at the hotel you are going to the restaurant.

Another riverwalk favorite is Budro's. Reservations are mandatory if you don't want to wait two hours. The blackened prime rib is really freaking good.

For casual cool you can't beat The Cove or La Tuna. Both should have live music on Friday night.

Actually, tonight you should probably skip La Tuna. It's First Friday in southtown and it will be crazy.

For classic Tex-Mex and the best margaritas in town hit up ChaCha's. I highly recommend the original top shelf margarita. If you like blazing hot salsa ask for the waiters sauce. They don't put it on the table. you have to know to ask for it. It's great but it's not for rookies.

Acenar on the River Walk has always been a favorite date spot for us. It's a different twist on Mexican cuisine. The great atmosphere & drinks are a plus!

Bill: " Hi Tom I have a business idea".

Tom: "Let's hear it."

Bill: "Let's create a shit load of restaurants along the bayou and call it the River Walk."

:lolFive Friday Facts: Sewer Water, Drought, and San Antonio
San Antonio, Texas has managed to keep the San Antonio River flowing through the River Walk area of downtown. What’s their secret? Treated sewage water.

Read more: http://2ndgreenrevolution.com/2011/10/07/five-friday-facts-sewer-water-drought-and-san-antonio/#ixzz2SF0qLA4w

The wastewater treatment plant of San Antonio, Texas, USA, resembles its sister plants around the world: a wide expanse of deep, in-ground concrete tanks filled with brown liquid. There’s a faint organic odor, not unpleasant, and noise from big pumps and motors that are moving city-size quantities of water.

In that $50 for 2 price range, you could try Clear Springs http://www.clearspringscafe.com/index.html They have a nice variety of seafood and American (steaks, burgers, salads). If you want CFS, try it here before you try Lulu's (try anything before you try Lulu's! :lol) and their onion rings are amazing. The breweries in town are okay, but breweries are great for beer, the food is pretty much a second thought here in town. For really great brewery/food head to Dodging Duck in Boerne or the Fredericksburg Brewery.

Awesome - that's why they call me Da Point Guard.

Quarry is a very nice place to hang out for a dinner IMO. Plenty to choose from and you can even pop in and see a movie afterwards.

I had the pulled pork tacos and my wife had the turkey wrap. The guacamole appetizer was some of the best I've had and getting a Red Chair on draft was nice.
