“He’s got a great future ahead of him,” said the Spurs veteran Antonio McDyess (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/m/antonio_mcdyess/index.html?inline=nyt-per), an accomplished rebounder himself. “He’s relentless. He plays hard every possession.”

On January 13, 2010, Blair became the first rookie in Spurs history to record a 20–20 (at least 20 of any two statistical categories) since Tim Duncan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Duncan), when he finished with 28 points and 21 rebounds (10 offensive rebounds) in a 109–108 overtime win against the Oklahoma City Thunder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_Thunder). It was also the first time in 29 years that a rookie who was not drafted in the first round of the draft recorded a 20–20. Blair recorded his second 20–20 of the season in the Spurs' final regular season game when he recorded 27 points and 23 rebounds against the Dallas Mavericks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Mavericks).

Blair also participated in the Rookie Challenge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_NBA_All-Star_Game#Rookie_Challenge) wherein he showed a strong performance especially in the first half, when he made a dunk from the backboard, a trick shot in the final minutes of the game, and tallied 22 points, and 23 rebounds, becoming the first player to have a 20–20 game in a Rookie Challenge and setting a Rookie Challenge record for rebounds

I kind of liked him, as he was one of a kind (his playing style was fun to watch) and stayed relatively calm after riding the bench.

Wow, that reads like he died. :)

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm glad he's gone. Ultimately, I think in three years he'll be plying his trade with an obscure Euro team and praying his knees don't degenerate to whatever inevitably happens when you don't have ACLs.

And as has already been mentioned, he should definitely try to keep his spending habits in check. Buying tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry on credit was pretty fucking dumb, but hopefully DeJuan learned from that mistake. The money pile is not going to last forever, and it's going to hurt when it runs out, so he should probably start thinking about his post-NBA future. That singing career isn't going to be enough to keep him afloat.

Here's mine:

Blair,

You were a great Spur. You're probably the best around the rim player that we have EVER had. Your craftiness would have helped us greatly in the playoffs if we had ever given you a chance. Thanks for helping us get the best record in the NBA a few years back too while being in the starting line-up the whole year and then again, being unfairly benched in the playoffs. You were unfairly scrutinized for being too small and having no ACL's, despite neither of those seeming to hinder your performance. In retrospect, it was probably a bad thing you were drafted by the Spurs in the first place, as your skills were never allowed to fully shine because of the limited minutes and benching's. It is a disgrace that someone of your talent has to settle for a measly 1.4 million 1 year deal in order to prove yourself. You should have been able to long ago. The Spurs have jipped you and owe you an apology. As do most of the posters on this forum. So I'll apologize for them. Blair, I'm sorry, and good luck in Dallas. Now show the world what you've got!

Giving Blair the starting nod his sophomore year with the Spurs was the worse thing that could have happened to him. He played great for a second round pick his rookie year and he was carving himself a nice little niche coming off the bench and spot starting.

Dear "Lamont" AKa Dejuan Blair,
I'm really going to miss trying not to talk about you on here.

Watching you play basketball reminds me of that awkward moment when somebody just finished washing the dishes as you slowly put another dirty dish in the sink.

I'm sure once the Front Office actually figures out what you did here, they can easily replace you.

I'd also tell you to go to hell but I work there...and I don't want to see you everyday.

Glad he`s gone, very undersized center to play against seven footers, I guess he took that position at early age because he was fat and lazy to develop shots.

After his first couple of seasons he fell off a bit, but man he was a fantastic pick for the #37th pick. Made less than $4.5 million in 4 seasons and had an P.E.R or 17 that entire stretch. Limited player who played more for what he was worth for the Spurs. Good pick at #37, but Spurs could have tried to get something in a trade for him & Jackson (yeah, I sound like a broken record) last season. The best FO in the NBA sometimes misses a few tricks.

I wish very best for Dejuan Blair. That's right; don't listen to these losers celebrating as if you were some scrub.

Unfortunately he was not gifted with a few inches of height because I honestly think that his short height makes him a bad defender by default given his position. I'll always have good memories of Blair including his run with Team USA in training camp, his rookie/sophomore all-star games, and the Spurs also had the best record in the NBA for two years in a row (2011, 2012) with Blair in the starting lineup I believe.

Good bye Dejuan. You will be missed. I hope Dejuan has a successful and healthy career.

:lmao @ all these haters that regurgitate everything Pop and the FO does. Just because Pop had him in the dog house, these Popsuckers automatically assume that Blair is a scrub. SMH.
