Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. You'll notice how much the "why your team sucks" series on Deadspin focused on this dark side of football... Owners are regularly shitting on the population whenever they can.

It's not just the NFL, it's all of pro sports where this goes on. If you think the stuff that article points out is bad, you should see how much Miami tax payers got fleeced by the Marlins and their bullshit promise about how $1.2 billion towards a new stadium would get them a competitive ball club and also how much the Marlins were caught outright lying about profitability when their financials got leaked.

And jeebotardism has plenty to do with it. People would be better at numbers and paying attention to financials if there wasn't a concentrated effort from the Christian right to destroy math and science education.

Dumb blacks are some of the biggest jeebotards in America. Just because they vote Dem doesn't make them less religious. Mexicans are also devout Catholics who used to vote Republican before the Republican party went in the direction of white nationalism.

And Seattle didn't allow its team to rape it, which is why its pro basketball team left for a shitball red state city. Also look at the article in the OP. Santa Clara made a deal with the 49ers that involved all the money being paid back over the long term. Still a corporate blowjob, but nothing compared to shit like which Oklahoma City did to get the Sonics. The big coastal cities, regardless of political affiliations, don't need to give as many subsidies away because teams would rather be there everything else equal. The cities like Minneapolis and OKC are the ones that really get bent over.

And there's a lot of outrage in Florida over what's going on with the Marlins. The one city counsel member in Miami who originally voted against the new Marlins' stadium got elected as mayor after people realized how much they got reamed by a team lying about its profitability.

For example this current movement in Texas to incorporate a "science" curriculum in public schools that teaches kids the world is 5,000 years old. Kids being taught the world is 5,000 years old before they know any better dumbs them down regardless of how religious they turn out to be.

I agree there. Worship in general is the problem, especially athlete worship in this case. The irrational behavior of worshipping someone who wouldn't piss on you if you were dying in a fire is a big problem :lol
