View Full Version : Week 6 Black QB report card: Some improvement, overall unimpressive.

The good:

Cam Newton: sure, they beat a dogshit Matt Cassel-led Vikings team, but Cam had 242 yds and 4 total TD's. He'll go back to struggling going forward until they're 3-7, then shamelessly statpad like last year. Still, A for effort today.

Thad Lewis: From the street to facing the Bengals D in 9 days, he played with a ton of heart and kept the Bills in it. B+

The bad:

Russell Wilson: Some might say he was riding the coat-tails of Marshawn Lynch and a dominant defense to victory. But they didn't witness the clapping in the huddle, the dump-offs and checkdowns, and the purposefully errant throws (to test the skill of his wide receivers). His heroism is truly second to none. A++

Colin Kaepernick: 16/29, 252 yards, 2 tds, 1 int, 1 lost fumble (2 total fumbles). Don't be fooled by the stats, half those yards came off 2 blown coverages on Vernon Davis. Other than that, he made terrible decisions in the redzone and once again looked horribly uncomfortable in the pocket. Starting to look like the black blood cells are more prominent than the white ones. (Alex Smith is 6-0, btw). C-

The ugly:

Terrelle Pryor: 10 sacks, most in the circus-variety. Blame a crippled o-line all you want, but you can't be losing a 1/4 of the field on each sack. Throw in 3 picks for good measure. F

Geno Smith: LOL. F

Michael Vick: Watched the white man rape a top-flight secondary and now has 7 total td's in 2 games. He'll rush back from injury, hurt his team, then get injured again (stop me if you've seen that before). F

Cawnbread Griffin III: Awful. Like Kaepernick and Wilson, he's dogshit when you keep him in the pocket. D

Other:

Josh Freeman: This retread has earned a job by default, so his addition will make up for Vick's subtraction.

Pryor had an awful showing, but all QB's in their first starting year put up stinkers here and there, let alone on the road against an elite D, but his first 2 picks were just bad decisions and he took some sacks where he coulda just gotten rid of the ball out of bounds. I was disappointed for sure, but like you referenced, the line was something else. Pass protection aside young QB's NEED a running game, outside of Luck, but Luck is a monster.

At this point the Raiders would be THRILLED to get their 2nd string offensive line back. These third stringers aren't as good as Alabama's o-line right now

Russ the boss put in another masterful performance tbh...

Connected with 8 different receivers, and willed his team to victory despite the fumbleitis of teammates (3, 1 of which he recovered himself, and saved a touchdown in the process. Quite masterful indeed.) and poor special teams play. 300 all purpose yards. It will be a glorious day when Lord Percy can suit up at full health. All praises to DangeRuss

I see Lynch being the leading rusher and receiver along with scoring 12 of their 20 points. I also see a Seahawk defense that forced 2 turnovers and held the opposition to just over 200 yards.

Those silly little details.

the dude who fell on lynch's fumble?

so during a 10-10 tie (due to a botched field goal that titans returned for a TD), Lynch fumbles with goal to go. wilson is able to land on it and they take a FG lead. next possession Wilson throws and runs for 51 yards (Lynch accounts for 16), and Lynch punches it in on 1st and goal. I'm not taking anything away from Marshawn, but Wilson is the one that got the offense into position to take the lead and win the game. oh and the drive where Lynch fumbled with goal to go? set up by that big pass play which i linked above.

pretty damn good tbh. if i looked up wilson's qb rating last year what would i find? :lol i never called Wilson a top 5 qb in the NFL, that's the funny thing. the first time i made a reference to my appreciation of wilson was that i thought he was better than rg3. since then, it has ballooned into me supposedly thinking Wilson is one of the best players in the league. he's a 2nd year player, and a damn good one at that. i'm pretty sure a guy like big ben was really sheltered in his first couple of years too with a great run game and elite D. same with Tom Terrific in his early days. don't you agree?

I won't disagree that he's better than RG3. Tom was sheltered his first year, but was a beast from 2002-onward. Ben had a Top-5 running game and defense, but still went 3-0 on the road in the playoffs (playing excellent) before winning a SB (not a good performance for him). Could Wilson do that? Doubtful, since he has a losing road record.

I'll give you some advice brotha...a life lesson, if you will. Don't hitch your wagon to a black QB. If you think it's bad trying to defend him now when his team is doing well, just wait till he shits the bed later and adds his name to the list of 0-fer monkeyballers. We've seen this script before (hell we're watching 2 others--Kraep and RG3 do it right now)...some guy has a shining rookie year, maybe another, defenses eventually figure him out, and he becomes a frustrating statwhore the rest of his career (a la Vick, McNabb, the LIST GOES ON)

Chief Brody

spurraider21
10-14-2013, 01:09 AM
thats fine. my thinking of Wilson being better than RG3 (which was the context in which i called Wilson under the radar, since people would put Luck/RG3 in one tier, then talk about Wilson afterwards as in "oh yea, he was good too"), and that Wilson is a good qb in this league isn't what i would call "hitching my wagon" to him.

but if some members on this forum have the compulsive need to find anybody else to give credit to on the team, than so be it. i have a feeling a lot of it is due to the fact that avante has hitched his wagon to wilson (saying he is better than luck) and everybody hates avante

That's only in response to the media last year making him out to be Drew Brees.

What kind of numbers did Brees put up in his first full season with LT?

Brees: 526 Attempts, 320 completions. 3,284 yards, 17 TD's, 16 INT's. 60.8% Completion percentage. (130 yards rushing and 1 TD)

LT: 1,683 Yards, 14 TD's. 79 Receptions, 489 yards, 1 TD.

Wilson: 393 Attempts, 252 Completions. 3,118 yards, 26 TD's, 10 INT's. 64.1% completion percentage. (489 yards rushing and 4 TD's)

Lynch: 1,590 yards, 11 TD's. 23 Receptions, 196 yards, 1 TD.

Now, the only reason they're really being compared is because Brees serves as a reference point for Wilson for those who think he's too small to play the game. And, Wilson picks up some things from Brees to implement into his game to SOME extent. Given the type of running game Brees had, those are very comparable numbers.

:lmao thinking rookie stats makes the comparison valid. It's a retarded comparison made by the media to promote black QBs.

To be fair, our best recievers that year were Tim Dwight and Curtis Conway.... I'd take Tate, Rice, and Harvin (when healthy) over them all day, tbh....

Harvin wasn't on our roster in 2012.
_____________________________________

Also, LT accounted for 79 receptions, that's a lot. A lot of receivers never get 70 receptions in a season for their entire career :lol. He has to be accounted for. He vultured yards and receptions. LT was all purpose and could play every down as you already know very well. And was certainly utilized more extensively in the passing game comparatively to Lynch. So in reality he was an integral part of your passing game that season, and should be added to that receiving core. And certainly, he makes up for what was lacked to some extent. Numbers wise, the Tate/Rice combo compared decently to the Dwight/Conway combo. (Aside from the TDs)

Dwight/Conway: 1,475 yards combined. 5 TDs

Tate/Rice: 1,436 yards combined. 14 TDs

I think Tate is better than white lighting, :lol, but comparable in ability to some extent. Conway was good when healthy. He had two, 1,000 yards seasons before San Diego. But, comparing just those WRs, and not including LT, I'd agree with you. Tossing LT in adds another dimension tbh...

It's already been proven on this site Russell Wilson tucks it and runs over 10x as frequently as Brees does. One's a pocket passer, the other's a monkey baller :lol

The only reason I put those stats in were due to the running game Brees had, that is the point. People make a big deal about Wilson and the running game. So, it was two birds with one stone LOL Clearly, Brees has a track record that Wilson doesn't have available. And Wilson, is being punished because he doesn't, and he's multi dimensional, and that's fine :lol

I'm actually pleased Wilson can take off if needed. It gives him an added dimension that is needed with us not having a Jimmy Graham, Brandon Marshall, Megatron, A.J Green etc. New Orleans is built around Brees, where it is not the case for Wilson yet he still performs. One is a pocket passer only, and one is multi dimensional. And I don't care that the guy has ran 10xs more than Brees, it just says he's multi dimensional and doesn't have the weapons.

People act as if Wilson doesn't go about his progressions when has the time LOL

I never said he was Joe Montana, never once. I never said he was Drew Brees, or Elway, or any prolific passer that has come and gone, or is sill here. All I ever said is the guy deserves more respect than what he is getting. And, comparatively to a prolific passer that had a great running back in his first year at QB, he put up comparable numbers, and that is a point that should be respected.

I could care less what color the guys skin is. I care about his performance. Wilson gets punished because the scheme he is in prevents him from attempting the amount of passes other QBs (That are called prolific) attempt, nor does he have a true X wideout to boot.

Does he have a great running game, and a great defense? Fuck yeah he does :lol

But don't put Rice in a top end receiver category, and certainly don't discount the guys ability to win games when there's nothing to do but pass the rock around the field, or make plays. And look at that Chicago film, he used Rice plenty. But think about the attempts Wilson gets comparatively.

Yeah, they all had the keys handed to them as well (Just like Luck). Elway didn't pass for 3,000 until year 3. 15 games in year 2, wasn't on pace either.

And a lot of people were saying, "Get rid of Bledsoe", and "Brady is leading us to victory, we don't need Bledsoe, we can get so much for Bledsoe, it's a win/win". Of course the intense Brady dick sucking came after he won the bowl, but he was getting similar BJs before becoming the man.

His 280 yards in those 6 games were signs of a promising season. Those vikes were already struggling before he went down that year, including rice. This is now his 7th season and the guys best season outside of Favre's magical year was last year where he put up 750 yards. Let's not make the guy out to be Brandon Marshall. I agree DHB is not that good, but like Rice he's also had sub-standard QB's throwing to him his whole career (outside of Favre's one healthy year). Btw, Those 6 Sidney Rice games came at the end of the season when the team was already in shambles (and Favre missed 3 of those).

Now you'll say, "How come DHB isn't killing it in Indy?" Let me stop you before you get excited. Rice>>>DHB, and Indy has at least 2 vastly better WR options. There is no better option in Seattle, he's undoubtedly their most talented WR threat.

So what if he's being paid like an elite receiver, doesn't make him one. :lol@$$$ Always equaling talent level. Call it a poor front office move, I'm not salty about it. Ask Buffalo about det Fitz contract sonnnn. Plenty of examples out there. Anyways...

He can be compared as much as he wants, he still isn't on the level, no matter how hard people try to make it that way. LOL "Inspired"
Although we all agree Fitz never should've received that contract, it still was only the 21st highest QB contract among starters at the time. Not guaranteed money though, and he was off the books following 2012.

For the coup de grace, one of your bogus comparisons. Kolb never had a full productive season to warrant a contract. Rice was a pro-bowler (iirc) on an NFC powerhouse in 2009. And it matters because people much smarter than you who are around football all the time decided he was worth that contract.

How about we just boil it down to see where we stand. Here is the list of qb's I'd take over Russell Wilson.

Peyton, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Luck, Ben, Ryan, Romo. Probably Flacco too. Also tough to rule out Rivers in this resurgent season, and Eli has the hardware to back it up as well. Still, I doubt any of those 3 make the seachickens noticeably better. Care to add to the list so I see how far off we are?

Stafford plays with a horrific defense and led the Detroit franchise to its best season since Wayne Fontes was snorting coke off hookers' asses. Cutler has taken his team to an NFCC game.

Wilson is part of a team that was then only 2 years removed from their most iconic franchise win (still), advancing to the divisional round. Last year they beat a one-legged QB to advance to the divisional round. Yay.

Hey Chief, as someone else who's rarely sober :lol, what do you recommend as the best nightcap? I've found recently that alcohol is helping me go to sleep at a decent hour extremely effectively and I'm curious what the best combo has been in your experience :lol

Chief Brody
10-14-2013, 06:53 PM

Revised, for the fanbois

"It doesn't surprise me when I hear that he's number two behind Michael Vick (in rushing this season) because, I don't think the issue is so much Russell Wilson. I can't really tell you how he's developed as far as becoming a passer BECAUSE I think they really struggle on the outside. Very seldom when they drop back do you see guys creating separation, guys that can win in one on one situations. And I think that's why we're seeing him run so much. It's that he drops back, and there's no separation, there's nobody open. And now hes gotta start creating, hes gotta create with his feet to make a throw down the field, or what he's doing more often is creating with his feet and running and picking up yards and moving the chains that way. So, it's hard for him to develop further as a passer without having weapons on the outside to help him".

Since we had to assume MJ knows more than anyone else (even though there was no evidence he did) until proven otherwise, when exactly did MJ prove he didn't know more than anyone else? When he picked Kwame Brown? Adam Morrison? Somewhere in between? Be specific as I'm curious what the criteria is.

Saying "Well Kurt Warner certainly knows more than anyone on this forum" is precisely what an appeal to authority logical fallacy.

http://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples/examples-of-fallacies.html

Appeal to Authority - This type of fallacy is also referred to as Argumentum ad Verecundia (argument from modesty). In this case, rather than focusing on the merits of an argument, the arguer will try to attach their argument to a person of authority in an attempt to give credence to their argument.

For example: “Well, Isaac Newton believed in Alchemy, do you think you know more than Isaac Newton?"

All you tried to do was discredit Warner completely because he's a jeebotard. "Kurt Warner said it, it's a wrap!"
You then proceeded to claim that wasn't a logical fallacy. Are you now admitting Spur-Addict did employ a logical fallacy?

He made some points which you didn't refute.
What points did he make exactly and how did he back them up? Be specific.

All you tried to do was discredit Warner completely because he's a jeebotard.
The burden of proof doesn't rest on me to discredit the opinion. The fact Kurt Warner has the opinion doesn't automatically give it credit.

If you actually addressed his points and brought a valid reason to dismiss them, and I followed that by saying "ur wrong Kurt Warner is smarter" then it would be a fallacy.
:lol not understanding the basis of a logical fallacy
Why does the burden of proof rest on me to dismiss the point? Because Kurt Warner said it?

"ur wrong Kurt Warner is smarter" is also essentially what you did right fuckin here :lmao

Kurt Warner knows more about quarterbacking than anybody does on this forum, I'd reckon.

Phenergan indeed gives you a small buzz, so naturally hospitals are moving away from it and using Zofran more often now. Any Benzo is good...what's funny (and sad) is if I was blindfolded and given one, I could tell you exactly which one it was upon onset:lol

hospitals are shying away from phenergan too because of its extrapyramidal side effects. i slammed some on a guy the other day and he tried running out of the hospital lol. but in any event, you have a gift. we should hang out and enjoy a benzo/booze party lol.

dont feel like making separate quotes....

a) Nobody, neither me nor Spursaddict, said "this is right because Kurt Warner said so." he just posted a quote from kurt warner about the topic of russell wilson

b) Again, nobody said "it's a wrap" or made it seem like Kurt Warner's quote was an end-all-be-all judgement. you sir, are talking straight of your your ass

c) Points that Kurt Warner made: Wilson's offensive line is struggling, which forces him to move around since there isn't enough time for the receivers to get into position to make a play. This is supported by the fact that their 2 tackles are hurt and their center missed 1 (or i think 2) game(s). Warner also brought up the fact that Seahawk receivers are struggling to gain separation, which means Wilson needs to decide between throwing into tight coverage or taking off with it. Combine the OL and the WR problems, and you have a guy who's true passing skill might not be reflected in the numbers

d) Just because Kurt Warner said it doesn't mean its true. I fully recognize that. But he's a guy that made an argument and brought up points. They should still be addressed if you are going to take the position that Wilson isn't all that good. Attacking him ad hominum saying "oh his opinion sucks because he's a creationist" is retarded and a fallacy on your own behalf. Discredit the arguments. Not the guy arguing.

e) Saying Kurt Warner knows more about quarterbacking than we do (which is probably true) doesn't mean he is 100% right evaluating Wilson. I never said that. Quit putting words in my mouth. He's a guy that has played the position and made a case. Regardless of his credibility in your eyes, if he is so wrong on this issue, you should be able to explain it by trying to show me why his points are incorrect or how misguided his arguments are.

I never said Warner is an expert. I said, a model of the type of QB a lot of people deep throat on this forum agrees with my argument, and presents a lot of the same points. Saying someone is respected, is not calling them an expert, or even an authority. Someone is reaching. There's a difference there. It's a good thing his argument was disputed and disproved LOL

I never said, "Kurt Warner is an expert who agrees with me THEREFORE I am correct". And I never said Warner's points on their own is enough to win the debate. I said, we've made our point, and a Gunslinger happens to agree. It's over.

Also, Lynch carried the Seahawk offense to victory VS the Cardinals last night, did you guys see that? Poor game manager Wilson didn't bring the goods. I don't have to argue for Wilson, he does it on his own.

Appeal to authority is not a fallacy only if there is no dispute amongst the authorities. Generally speaking when judging an argument if there is mostly a consensus such as is the case in the climate debate then you can ignore the severe minority but of course you do not have to. If the authorities dispute amongst themselves then at the end of the day you can not logically induce that the claim to be true.

In the case of football where there are 30 opinions on pretty much every topic appealing to authority is pretty worthless. The only thing safe at that point is the most conventional of conventional like turnovers are key or a pass rush is important. When you get into how to execute specific techniques then you can make such inductions. Generalizations are typically worthless. There is too much divergence when you look at specifics.

Downplay any accomplishment and grandstand or straight up fabricate shit to denigrate. It's pretty sad when you use multiple accounts so as to seem that your position is widely held.

Phenergan PO is fine. It's the IV form which is the problem. The big problem is how it destroys veins when injected. That's a big reason Zofran is being used more.

Yeah, it's very caustic on the veins...not nearly as bad as Dilantin though--3-4 years ago I saw a new nurse attempt to give that IVP to a pt:wow

No doubt....Klonopin to chill out, Ativan for the buzz, valium for sleep, and Versed for the chick before you date rape her. Speaking of Benzos, my flight company now carries Flumazenil/Romazicon for reversal---does that really work? I heard it's very hit-or-miss.

It wasn't until quite recently that doctors began treating peptic ulcers with antibiotics. There was a consensus view that ulcers were caused by diet, smoking, alcohol, stress, etc. So much for consensus.

Hey Chief, as someone else who's rarely sober :lol, what do you recommend as the best nightcap? I've found recently that alcohol is helping me go to sleep at a decent hour extremely effectively and I'm curious what the best combo has been in your experience :lol

Take a vicodin or percocet along with an 800mg Ibuprofen/Motrin. The Motrin doesn't do anything by itself but it potentiates certain narcotics and makes them stronger:tu

So young. So much potential.

This will not end well.
