2-7 in the rest of the games
Still not good enough to make the playoffs, so not sure what your point is. If it's to have a non-playoff team piss away a golden opportunity to land a franchise draft pick, then solid take:tu
This is a 35-37 win team if they go all-out the rest of the year. What does that accomplish?

I'm not suggesting their winning games here and there is good for their long term outlook. But Pau having a d-league roster winning games is pretty impressive

^Another Pau apologist. Man, you would think this guy is Jesus Christ by reading this site.
As bad as the Lakers played that series they definitely should've won games 1 and 3. Pau played bad AND played like a pussy. He's the fucking reason we didn't sweep that garbage-ass Hornets team in the first round. Dude got owned by Aaron Gray.
So your "MVPau" or "alpha" (or whatever the fuck is trending in the NBA Forum these days) is a guy who gets beasted on by the likes of Leon Powe and Aaron Grey, and also lets female problems affect his play on the court. These are facts. This is the guy you worship

It's getting old and it's futile because the Lakers are going nowhere this year, whether it's MVPau or Pussy Pau. This would've been a bit more effective if
A. The Lakers are ACTUALLY winning
B. He didn't play like a tight vagina in 2011
Don't get why some people are jacking off to a 12-12 with "MVPau", but sure, suit yourself. Whatever gets you through the night.

The Spurs are like the Dallas Cowboys on steroids--with each new collapse better than the last:
2008: Blew 20-pt leads in Games 1 and 5 of WCF
2009: 1st round TKO by #6 Mavs
2010: Swept by the Suns
2011: 8
2012: Backdoor swept--on the heels of a 20-game winning streak:rollin
2013: 6, the most epic collapse in American professional sports history
Sadly, last year will never be topped in our lifetimes. San Antonio might have a WCF run in them, but more than likely they'll get dropped in the WCSF, then brag that they finished better than the worst Lakers team in history.

You just answered your own question, dumbass. They are incapable of beating a team like the Miami Heat (or an up-and-coming Pacers squad) for the next couple of years, so rather than be mediocre (at best) with crickets chirping at Staples, they made a business decision to keep asses in the seats. It's a shitty situation, but they weren't going anywhere anyways.
Besides, who were these "missing FA pieces" the Lakers could've had that would've magically made them competitive with the elite teams?
Howard was a disaster and is mentally weak, Melo is a loser, everybody Brooklyn acquired sucks, etc etc. It's completely diluted right now (which is fine, but nevertheless), and that is why tanking is the only viable option.
Congrats to Pau though for being this season's Gerald Wallace or Al Jefferson. Looks great on the resume.

It's only a shitty situation because Fredo decided to hand out Nash hilarious money, got rid of any assets to rent Howard and killed the franchise handing out the $30m deal cancer is currently sitting in.
Now it's compounded by handing out another ridiculous extension to the same cancer, and likely losing the only player that has any actual value on the team in MVPau.
Besides, who were these "missing FA pieces" the Lakers could've had that would've magically made them competitive with the elite teams?
This is funny coming from Lakerfan, whose team has a habit of making lopsided trades. Howard wasn't a FA either, until you guys traded a broken knee and garbage for him. Making deals isn't the problem, the problem is the Lakers management extended the wrong player, so who's going to want to go there to play sidekick to a has been? This is a guy that already ran outta town Shaq, Howard and soon Gasol. Nobody that wants to win is going there.

The Lakers have NEVER built through the draft, but somehow they are now going to adopt this philosophy? Kobe has this year + 2 more. There is not a Duncan or anyone close in this draft who will make the Lakers contenders in that time period. Your best option is a healthy frontcourt rotation of MVPau, Hill, and Kaman, and Nash to make a miraculous comeback, and get a breakout season from one or two of the league min d-Leaguers you've got. That's all still a possibility, but instead the fans have embraced quitting. Congrats.

There were plenty of solid FA this summer, tbh. Monta Ellis, Kevin Martin, Mo Williams, Crack-Odom, Derek Fisher... if you wanted a has been SG, you could've had Manu for $7m a season, and still bring in the taco-eating population without killing your cap-space...
Plus it's not like the Lakeshow couldn't have salary-dumped Nash + scrubs for piece like Ariza or Afflalo... the problem though is you had 3 players making exorbitant amounts of money (Cancer $30m, Pau $20m and Nash $9m) and only Pau being worth that money vs production.

This isn't San Antonio, where the Spurs have no other competition in town to distract their ham-hock wildebeest fanbase...when I go to SA I request a room without a view, tbh.
Making the CF isn't good enough (and they're miles from even being that good) when you have the history the Lakers do while playing in the entertainment capital of the world. It's like the Yankees, where every non-title season is a failure.

Yeah, it's new...he took a shot and missed. Back to the drawing board, since there's no worthwhile FA's. "Best" shot at rebuilding now is grabbing one of those Top 4 picks...or just wait a few more years till real talent hits the market.
So you're saying the Lakeshow could've beat the Heat with Howard back and this clusterfuck, despite what you've seen last season? :lol

BTW, the argument that the only way to go is to "build a team to beat the Heat" is yours, and only yours. I've stated that business-wise, a good/solid Laker team, even if they can't win it all, is still a much more marketable team that this abortion.
That's where players like Monta Ellis, Kevin Martin, etc could've helped fortify Gasol into being such a team. Same buzz that was there when 38 year old Nash was signed for $30 million, tbh...

If it were that easy I'd do it. They don't hand out trophies to 35-win teams--especially not in LA. Jerry's sprog struckout in FA, so the only thing left is to swallow his pride, tank for a possible franchise lottery pick, and bide your time by handing out a legacy contract to the only player that'll keep asses in the seats during their shitty transition.
Bad situation, but I'm not bitter over 2012 or Dwight b/c it was clear after a couple months it was doomed to fail. Wish him success in Houston. Only team that annoys me anymore is the Clippers b/c they're cunty. I'm salty as fuck over 2011, though and always will be. Show me one thread whereas Spur Fan gave a shit about Pau before he donned the Purple and Gold in '08. My theory: he didn't matter until he became a Laker, but now he does to Spur Fans. He is currently 0-16 without Kobe in the playoffs and is also leading a lottery team this year without him.
The Lakers aren't winning jack shit this year. He is the highest paid PF/C in the league...and he is not even an allstar... yet he's paid like one. That shit doesn't add up son.

Straight up answer you are in good mood ol chap :tu
i am not a lot into personal rings count tbh you know my stance on the 5-4. Nevertheless I understand spurs fans being much more butt hurt by 5-4 than 16-4, they usually root for players rather than team. At the end your approach is fair game, they deserve all the shit.

^16-4 is not germane here. Our beef is not with the macro. It is with the micro. This is between Kobe & SF. We've brought Duncan into it as the lightening rod because they suffer most thru his inclusion. You know, good/Spurs/Duncan Vs. evil/Lakers/Kobe. Like the old days with you:::Celtics/lunch pail/goodness Vs. Lakers/Hollywood/fake. It's Media code meant for the masses.
Spur Fan must suffer for last June. They know this.

All fair game, 1 hurts more than 12, like a needle on the right spot is more painful than a punch in the face.
And me sitting on top of the 17 has no harmful weapon to throw at them... How ironic... Fan base behavior should be more studied... One could write a lot more on that.

Exactly. 16/17 means nothing to them. 17 is everything to me. & when it happened--'08--the landscape had changed dramatically from the last time we'd met ('87). 20 years had passed and with those years a profound change had taken place in NYC--Media. No longer was there a [loser] in Media's eyes. We weren't cast down like in '84. No mention was made of 17-16 and if we had won it'd be 17-16 Lakers in the lead. It's just another sample of the softening of America. There are no losers. Just winners. & it's sad for those who haven't suffered thru the torturous years '60s-'90s. You don't appreciate the championships because there is little distinction to the victor/loser.
I enjoy my wounds and scars from the 80's. I'd not trade them for money, marbles, nor chalk. It's part of who I am now by what I went thru then.
Even the Super Bowl,,,they preface the game by certifying both teams for just getting there. It's just sickening to do that. There is nothing wrong with suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. It fortifies the soul of man. Christ, if I didn't sear the soul of Spurs Fan for last June nobody would have. They wouldn't even know they're suffering if I didn't kick them in the stomach 2, or 3 times a week. They should really thank me. For if, God forbid they ring they'll come here for their salvation, there deliverance, their pound of flesh from Cubby. Perhaps I won't be here, yes, but, they'll come nonetheless.

Pau's expiring contract is something pleasant to hold for a rebuilding team that the Lakers are, and it's not like they could've managed another Gasol-type deal, dumping Pau and taking back a prime superstar to rejoin the title contention immediately. The Grizzlies ain't no more a scrub team, and even if they could get a superstar in exchange for Pau, it'd remain a big question if a 36yr old post-achilles Kobe could still lead his team the way he used to tbh.

Best explanation is that he realized he needed to tank in the 4th, that's just some incredible awareness.
Unluckily for him, he had already put up enough buckets to make it impossible for the Lakers to lose.
