It was/is perfect television.
I tell people all the time that as a stand alone season, it has no equal. As much as I love the Wire...even the best season of that series can't match up to what Woody and McConaughey did here. It's timeless.

I watched 1 episode (well one quarter anyway) of this thing and found it reprehensibly common. All women detectives are 21 going on 15, know EVERYTHING since 1850, nose up in the air, mad at the world, the White girls are drop dead gorgeous, the Blake women, I mean the Black women markedly ugly and get the closest close up's of course. You couldn't talk the production out of said close-up's for money, marbles, nor chalk. Not a chance.

This episode I watched I imagine is typical. A White woman is found murdered in the woods, stripped naked, ass up in the air, head stuck in a tree trunk, feathers sticking out of the area where head & trunk hole meet. The whole police force///detective division B&W even/steven is scouring the crime scene like billy be jiggered, back and forth they stomp in and out of the camera square. Nobody looks at the ass up, just too busy scouring for them leads.

And you buggers vouch for this garbage.

Not only the girl bosses, but every base covered: The old white male cop is an idiot while the female cops are geniuses, interracial couple, gay teenager, etc.... But I do like all of the references to the first season.
