wish spurs at least traded our dead weights for some picks...
Why would a team give up picks for dead weight?

I wouldn't care so much about standing pat if we didn't waste money on Jeff Errors in the offseason.

I guess with the Spurs being a few seconds within the championship, and making the WCF the year before that, they believe whatever they are doing is working. Last years Spurs team was special, and even the year before that was pretty special if they didn't have a mental collapse it seems after they lost game 3 vs the Thunder...I don't know if they can put a repeat performance this year as Thunder and possibly Miami if Oden works out have got better.

02-20-2014, 02:50 PM
Caron and MWP are both shitty this year but either is better than standing pat. Doubt the Spurs go after Artest after S-Jack tbh.
Spurfan better pray that Timmy/Diaw/Splitter stay healthy because they don't have an NBA level 4th big on the roster.
Neither does OKC,Miami, and many other teams..You dont have to have a stock pile of bigs to win in the NBA.

Shumpert is an average player, at best, tbh..he hasn't been a good defender since tearing his ACL, and he can't create for himself..with that being said, if OKC acquires him, it's a good move, it's better than not doing anything, tbh..
From what Knicks fans have said, Woodson's basically ruined Shump's confidence and marginalized him, tbh.... maybe a switch to a winning environment could get him going again....

OKC, Miami and Indy are all much more top heavy with talent at this point than the Spurs tbh. They can compensate by relying on the Top 5 players they have on their team whereas the Spurs are done with any injuries to their frontline.

Do you really think okc can win it all without westbrook, or miami can win without dwade, or indy can without george or hibbert. Injuries to key players for any team means there championship is over.

I didn't mention injuries to top guys. I'm just saying those teams can survive injuries to their 3rd big and still be good enough to win it all while the Spurs don't have that luxury. No need to hijack the thread over it tbh.

With the picture becoming 66% complete (Off Season/Trade Deadline Passed & Buyout Candidates left), the Spurs really have seemingly done a poor job this year to help themselves. A questionable off season has become a very questionable off season with the appearance no trade was done to fill the glaring holes on the roster.
If the buyout season does not produce any fruit, the Spurs should have only themselves to blame for not doing a good job to maximize their chances at winning.
the obvious is the obvious. there was no one worth trading for for what we would realistically offer. ergo, why would anyone have expected a trade?

No way. If you give Daye the minutes Bonner's had throughout his Spurs career, he'd outperform him. It's not saying much, but yes, Bonner is a putrid player who has no business on a Championship-caliber team, let alone a Bucks team.
Daye is on his 4th team and counting. Bonner, while he is not a great player, is very good at what he does. Yes, he's limited, but he shoots threes and he tries on defense. We don't need him all the time, but in spots, he can be effective. Daye couldn't get himself into the rotation on the Raptors, habitually one of the worst teams in the NBA.

Daye has been on some awful teams..Could suprise some of us with his play by being surrounded by solid players..
Agree there is no huge risk being involved as his salary is very little. De Colo was gone this summer anyways, and wasn't going to get any playing time with the way Mills has been playing. Spurs had more of a need for a player above 6'3 even if he isn't one of the best in the league. Maybe a change in scenery can be for the better.
anyone think shannon brown stays with the team?
No. I think they go after a buyout player with his spot. With Manu, Green, and Marco, he is not needed.

Still shocking at how little value Philly has gotten. To their credit, they have a great pick coming their way and a ton of cap space. Sucks for Thad Young and I'm shocked they wouldn't take any first rounder for Thad as long as it meant not taking salary.

I think it does, Indiana basically had to play their starters 48 min last year, their awesome starting 5 had to always make up for their sucky bench, it's a bit like Portland this year (they already had great starters last year), a bit of boost off their bench could make a big impact...

Spurs actually have a few players that can defend him unlike Granger where they'd only have Kawhi (thanks to the lack of Sf depth). Both are about even offensively with Turner being the better playmaker and Granger the superior shooter, but in the end Turner is easier for the Spurs to contain.
