that we may even lose in the first round if we play Memphis or the Dubs. LOL. Is he trolling us at this point or is he really this stupid? It's one thing to really like the Clippers' chances since they are a legit contender but to say we might lose in the first round is ridiculous. He just said all this via a radio interview on CBS Sports radio. He went on to say we're gonna run out of gas and are peaking right now as the Thunder and Clippers are merely looking ahead to the playoffs. The interviewer didn't really challenge him except after the interview, saying he thinks Barkley might be underestimating the Spurs a little bit. Well, the fat bastard has been consistent in his stance toward us all season and even had us as the 6th best team in the West before the season began. LOL.

Barkley is always wrong anyway, who cares.
The Spurs are definitely maximizing their potential right now and at the same time have significant room to improve.

It looks like we're peaking but I still think this team can get better. Right now, they are just sharing the ball/making open shots and helping each other out on defensive rotations on almost every possession.

That's what happens when you play shitty teams all year to get a swelled head then play an elite composed team that doesn't iso ball all day or shoot themselves in the foot repeatedly dude to dumb players, bad chemistry, and trying to get on ESPN top plays.

Barkley is going against the grain just to spice up the conversation.
Akin to how others like skip use similar tactics.
It's really about ratings and generating attention which helps these people's pocket books.
In the political arena guys like Rush and O'reilly have made a fortune.
Point is take it in stride and if you truly believe the detractors feel that way, the satisfaction of the Spurs winning will be that much greater.
:lmao Memphis :lmao
We scrubbed and swept their asses last year, and they've only gotten worse.

Considering the fact the Spurs have blown out the Clips the last two times they played them.... I really don't think Barkley believes this. Every analyst is pretty much picking the Spurs to pick the West, hardly anyone did last year. Barkley likes to be controversial, that's all. But you can see, really favors the Spurs to win the West, because he always makes the comments about SA and how they will be going down their again this year.

No way they're peaking, now they're playing great but Pop is going deeper down the bench quicker and quicker like he's not concerned about the other teams at all. That's the first time Parker has tried in a month. The bench comes in doesn't miss a beat now guys like Joseph and Daye are finishing teams off playing the entire 4th quarter.

I'm gonna go ahead and rectify many wrongs in this thread:
1) Barkley knows basketball. He's been playing it his whole career and he has been analyzing for over a decade
2) Barkey has been wrong before, we all have
3) He obviously sees Clipper and Thunder as hungrier, younger, more athletic and with legic superstars to carry their teams in the playoffs
4) The Spurs current winning streak DOES NOT MEAN SHIT. Barkley knows this
is he underestimating the spurs a bit by saying they could lose in the 1st round? sure. But that's Barkley. To say he is a moron or he does not know basketball is infantile IMO

He obviously knows about the game but one wouldn't think it if they had never seen him play and just happened to tune in when he's been talking about it. He talks in double-negatives, repeats the same opening statement on his closing line as a means to explain his entire argument, and then makes blanket statements without providing any concrete proof to back them up. He does all this while trying to be funny and he usually is but one can't help but wonder sometimes.

The thing I've noticed about the ol' sport is he will stick to his guns. Once he makes an opinion, he will never let up on it until the season is over. His belief that the Clippers are the best team this season will subside once the season is over and he will have a brand new opinion come next season. But he is very entertaining

He's been jealous of Duncan (and by extension, the Spurs) for years. Since he and many of his contemporaries fell off a cliff and succumbed to injury much earlier than Duncan, he can't fathom how he could maintain such a high standard this late into his career. And like Webber, he clearly thinks if he were in the same environment, he could have had just as much success.
He's also biased towards teams with low post dominant players, especially those of the undersized variety, since they remind him of himself and the way the game used to be played in his era. This is why he used to love the Jazz and has loved the Grizzlies, Pacers and now Clippers, in recent years.

Clippers are legit with 2 superstars and tons of firepower.
Until recently, their point differential over the last 25% of the season was superior to the Spurs. They are 2nd now.
spurs top 2 players are not playing as well as they did last year.
Supporting casts typically do not perform as consistently or as well in the playoffs.
It is not crazy to pick the clippers over the spurs. I personally am a homer and believe the Spurs will get it this time, but the clippers are clearly contenders.
I expect the clips to be a tough out for the thunder in the 2nd round, and may very well beat them. If they do, I think we have a better chance to beat them than the thunder, so if I was not going with the Spurs, I would pick the thunder today to win the west. I think the heat, if healthy, are just as likely as not to beat all comers, but I am hopeful the spurs have a superior supporting cast this year, and are healthy. Last time, tony got hurt in the finals and it cost us.
